    I'm not sure why but it amazes me how despite our technology, there are things that still near impossible for us. Like reaching the top of Mount Everest or going into the deepest parts of the sea

      Reaching the top? Retrieving those who didn't make it! We are yet to develop an efficient way to do so. Some of those bodies are still buried in the frozen peak, yet to be found.

    Everest is cool, but after hearing just how much trash people leave on Everest and how those who don't die poison water sources for cities under Everest it just makes me grossed out.

    I knew about the finding of Mallory's body because I read about it when it happened. And to be honest this camera might be discovered at some point. Or at least the other body. We never thought that the HMS Terror and HMS Erebus would be discovered from the lost Franklin expedition, but they did right after the miniseries came out.
    So who knows what might happen. Cross my fingers and hope that more evidence to history's mysteries can come out.

    Years ago Mallory's grandson made it to the top leaving a photo of his grandparents there citing: unfinished business.
    Which I find a very sweet, almost happily ever after moment granted he was not the first but atleast a Mallory made it up there FOR SURE and dedicated it to him, his grandson is still alive and if that camera is found and does prove it I think he will weep with joy and go to his grandpa's grave to tell him.

    I find it terribly sad those bodies are preserved there in the ice, unable to be given a proper burial.

    • @SonOfTheDawn515
      @SonOfTheDawn515 Год назад

      "proper burial" is more of a cultural thing and makes zero impact on the dead. It's for those who would mourn and what they think should* be done with the departed. In some cultures, bodies are deliberately left out to be consumed by animals, some are used as compost, some are cremated, some are dumped in the ocean... It makes no difference to them. They're dead. Their consciousness ceased existing.

    Umm... is no one going to mention how unlikely it is that the photo hasn't been ruined in almost 100 years? Even if Andrew's body hasn't been disturbed since he died the chemicals on the photo are so volatile, could the image really be safe?

      Kodak has said that that particular type of film would likely be able to be restored if the canister was found - apparently it keeps very well in cold temperatures.

    • @DylanPackard
      @DylanPackard Год назад +10

      Cold-stored film definitely keeps quite long, but that typically applies mostly to unexposed film.
      Latent images on film get weird over time, after you take the picture the silver in the film changes chemically. In a lot of cases film manufacturers recommend developing ASAP, as film is typically only fully "stable" when it's either unexposed or fully developed and washed. The cold definitely slows down the decay of a latent image, but it's still a countdown till most of the silver in the film loses a lot of the information stored on it.
      Though b&w film is stupidly resilient to some degree, especially frozen, I can't imagine you'd be able to pull much unfortunately from the film even if it was found. So yeah, likely not much left on that roll anymore :(

    Hey abitfrank
    I have a book series i would like to recomend for you, its called "the school for good and evil" or "sge" for short,its about these 2 bestfriends sophie and Agatha going kidnaped and going to 2 schools thinking they'd go into one but actually go to the other and both of them are trying to find there way home,i am reading the 2nd book currently and i am already obsessed with it already,i cried at the end of the first it was so good,since ive seen your videos and can tell your into fairytales (especially older tellings) and creppy stories,i really think you would love the read.
    There's 6 or 7 books on the series (i forget how many) and a hand book called "the never ever hand book" since the 2 schools are 1.the school for good and 2.the school for evil
    The school for good's students are called evers,such as ever after and the the school for evil's stidents are called nevers for nevermore
    I really think you'd love the read and enjoy it very much👍

    I remember them finding Mallory's body and honestly I was afraid they would try and remove his body. It was a relief that they didn't. I think it's probably 50/50 on if they did reach the summit. Quite honestly I'm inclined towards Hillary's assessment that summiting and ascenting a mountain are different things. Mallory's own son has stated the same assertion. If you don't making back down, you only done half a job. So even if they prove them first to the summit, it doesn't change anything. It would have to be proved a ascent was achieved before Hillary and Norgay's to change that point of history.

    Everest is the highest point on earth yes but it's Not the tallest from base to summit being situated in the world's most notable mountain chain its base is already at high altitude.
    There are several mountains that are a considerably longer climb than Everest, or "mountains" bcs I believe one of the very tallest is a dormant volcano

    Sorry, long comment:
    In my honest opinion, I think people should stop climbing Everest. It should stop being such a tourist attraction. The amount of trash and bodies up there is awful, plus the fact that it is so incredibly dangerous to bring any of it back down should be reason enough for them to shut down the tourism. The guides are suffering, the constant sight of death as they go up and down, the inexperienced climbers wanting a shot at it, the stress of making sure everyone makes it out alive. They can't bring anything off that mountain without having to cut into the ice around it, which adds so much more weight and risk to the recovery process. If people want to go up Everest, they should be experienced climbers, and they should have the decency to keep their trash in their pockets. All the waste up there is poisoning the water supply down below. There are better ways to support the tourism industry than climbing up some dumb mountain that thousands of other people have climbed. It's not even a rare feat for people to get to the top and back down now. Just stop.

      It'll become an even bigger issue if global warming were to be real (I recognize climate change is real) due to even less oxygen at higher altitudes. The cold and wind isn't the only killer.
