glad you finished this. It's interesting to me: All these guys, except for Ruth went on to play a ton of music with others, but these intricate, oddball rhythms that came from playing with Zappa are still ingrained in their musical memory 30 years later. Ruth was a treasure for Frank. He showcased her abilities to the extreme when she played with him. It still amazes me. I'd love to read a book or see a documentary about her; Her singular connection to Zappa and his music. Thanks for the reaction
That piccolo snare drum was the "rosebud" of Frank Zappa, and finally there are some similarities between the character of Orson Welles in "Citizen Kane" and Frank... It is easy to understand that Zappa not only formed them as a musician but in their entire life path. Great request and great reaction!
I thought exactly the same. But in the discussion what Ruth said it goes unnoticed by the others. But when I heard it I immeditly had to not it in my "Book". I must do a documentary about this going on the road try to find it! Next saturday I will publish a sort of a short documentary (that I made 2016) which is kind of what I have in mind for "The piccolo drum"
@@martinroland It's a very good idea, I'll be there to watch! I never paid a real attention to this anecdote, but it's really a interesting thing, this must be the start of a story! I can’t wait to see your work!
A thought about Wackerman. Recently I heard some songs from the 1981 tour when he recently had joined the band and the listened to a couple of songs from "Make a Jazz Noise here". Wow he really got better during those 7 years. Still probably my favorit Zappa drummer
This was terrific - great request 👍
