Oh the optimism and excitement of the narrator! Sure this is an amazing idea? Would be nice to balance out the bravado with some critical thoughts.... 1. Safety issues- no escape route. 2. Inefficient. Many small engines instead of a bigger engine carrying more people like a tram/bus 3.Small scale. Only a handful of people will benefit and that only on very limited routes. 4. Boring work (pun intended). Imagine being a driver in those tunnels. The neon lights wont be so exciting after the 5000th trip.
1. If there's a problem with your vehicle = and you need an escape route, the road in front of you will be clear. Any vehicles ahead of you will keep going. It's 3 meters wide and as flat as a road, because that's what it is. Vehicles behind will be backing out. Drivers are trained to do that. They haven't had to do it so far, because there haven't been any vehicles that became disabled in the tunnels. 2. There are no engines. Only electric motors in these vehicles. Larger capacity vehicles would be more efficient in the busiest times, but at slow times you'd have to decide whether to run them often to provide good service, but move mostly empty trains or buses back and forth, which is not efficient. Or you can run them less often to make the big vehicles more efficient, but you make your passengers wait much longer. The loop can run just the right number of vehicles to provide every passenger with excellent service, and a quick trip. 3. The bigger Las Vegas Loop will have 51 stations and 29 miles of tunnels. That's the equivalent of a 14-mile metro. Just about every resort will get its own station . A metro would not be able to do that. Imagine going from end to end and having to stop 40 times before you got to your destination. Anyone who wants to go from one resort to another (including Fremont street), or to UNLV or the stadium, will benefit from it. And being able to go directly to your destination instead of a common station under Las Vegas BLVD will be nice. A metro would have one station serving multiple resorts, but it won't be that close to any of them. 4. Automation is coming.
To be honest, I would prefer to be stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway or street, rather than driving in an ant hole underground. At least I will be able to see what Las Vegas looks like! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
This is so bad. It's going to eliminate a lot of jobs from drivers in Las Vegas that work to support their families. Taxis, Uber, Lyft, Limo and shuttle buses. 😢 All to make one guy even more filthy rich then he already is!
