Out there in space, right now above our heads, is a wealth of knowledge. And in this case, we mean that literally. Believe it or not, in our very solar system, there is an asteroid that is thought to be the remnants of a planet core. And that means that all those pricey metals that we have to dig for here on Earth, are exposed, and ripe for the taking. Estimates put this giant space faring gold mine at 10,000 quadrillion dollars, and who knows, if we can get up there to explore it up close, we may find that it is worth even more. What would this do to our economy? Just how rich would this make everyone on earth if it was split evenly? Are there any missions planned to get up there? Oh, we got your answers right here. In today’s video we are getting scientific, while making sure to not skimp out on the riches, so we can give you the scoop on this nearby, giant, golden asteroid. If it piques your interest, you’re not alone. None other than Elon Musk has made comments about his thoughts on mining this bad boy, and considering SpaceX will be the company that supports NASA in this quest, you better believe it’s something we should all take seriously. It would bring all new meaning to the phrase, the rich only get richer. So sit back, relax, and get ready to countdown from ten, as we fire all the thrusters and blast off into the final frontier to give you the scoop on the absurd amount of gold floating around in our solar system.

If we mine gold that much, then gold is same like a dirt.
And technologies will advance like crazy
Dirt is not an electrical superconductor. Gold is one of the best conductors in the world but we can barely use it because it is rare end expensive. The day someone mines this asteroid the price of gold will drop to the ground, but the advances in technology it can carry are enormous, and the first company to use that technology will become rich or richer even if the price of gold goes down.
Mining it wont be cheap
Pretty much. But the first 5 years whoever mined it first would become extremely rich though.
Or he can do what they do with diamonds and hold the supply back to artificially inflate the prices. As there are tons of diamonds.

The price of gold is based on the fact that there’s a limited amount of it on earth. If we are able to mine gold somewhere else and bring it to earth. That will definitely devalue the price of gold. So that won’t be good for big gold investors.

For the cost of mining it and bringing it back down to Earth to be used as a monetary asset, it would have to be worth a lot more than it is now. I think just about everything mined in space would stay there, not dropped down the gravity well of Earth. If Armstrong happened to land on the moon right next to a pallet of gold and a pile of regular moon rock, he still would have come home with the moon rock. Wealth would become one's own unique expression as a whole entity. As we are infinitely unique we would all be infinitely rich and supported by one another for our newly realized preciousness.
If people get so much gold, golds value will probably decrease since it’s not so rare anymore.
That could also be said for diamonds....saying as how it's one of the most common minerals in earth since all it is is compressed carbon... but diamonds are really expensive because of the monopoly on diamond trade, they only output X amount of diamonds a year to make diamonds "more rare and expensive", to get you to pay a few thousand dollars for a ring with a small diamond in it

@Zachary Lash first of all... Why are you coming after me when I'm saying the same shit you are
Second diamond is extremely abundant, gold less so
I think the solution with mining is to have the asteroid of our choice orbit around the sun, close enough to melt. Maybe a series of close detonation can help the asteroid make its way toward the sun, hopefully we can measure what speed and what angle it should approach the sun, in order to get it close enough to melt it thoroughly, if timed right we can have it get close enough to earth to orbit earth.
NASA: we're sending a rocket there it's for ummm scientific research yeah scientific research. not because it's a giant chunk of gold and platinum no that's got nothing to do with it. lol
Earth's soil is most valuable than that golden astroid or a diamond astroid.
Absolutely
So true
how does this make sense? Any material is only as valuable as society gives it value. A gold asteroid and a diamond asteroid would probably be valued at an amount more than the total amount of money on Earth
@@soumilrathi12 You are defining value as it is loosely defined by society. Baibhab was defining value as it is concretely defined by him. I hope you can see the difference and then understand what he meant. In some places people pay to get rid of water. Remember, when the supply is high and demand is low, these gold nuggets will be worth nothing.
But the advances we can make with massive amounts of gold present would be great. It's a superior conductor, most resistant to oxidation, much more malleable! no bro, the future is tech and tech requires a lot of gold. in fact, humans aren't able to create what we can imagine as the gold needed is not here on earth or at access without a huge cost inland and so on. Gold is the best conductive material on earth and in space. Satellites, motherboards and so much more needs gold and the way they build them is using gold where it's needed with limits. If a creator had that gold he or she or it could create hard drives and tech chips that have the capability to perform 100/1 meaning that 1 hard drive could do what 100 could and so on with many other devices and creations in tech. in the future, no one will wear gold unless it's in Neuron chip in there head. Let's say a human is blind! A Neuron chip can control artificial eyes. We have the tech already it's just doing what steve jobs are done with the iPhone... innovating to create a revolutionary piece of kit! we have the tech there its just putting the dots together.
I’m sure the main drive is to “examine a planets core”
So yeah that much gold and platinum would tank the markets, however they both have important uses in industry. You'd always be limited by how much they could actually mine and get back to earth. In the end, some of the most valuable asteroids might be the snowballs that are mostly ice. One's that could be diverted to send water to Mars for any colony.
Exactly !!!
Exactly, gold and platinum have great conducting, electronic and space uses and having huge resources of them would make technology lot cheaper and effective
We should cut back mining on Earth and work towards exclusively mining in space. Not only are there more materials there, but it would be better for the environment.
Except it takes 6 years to reach jupiter which is near the asteroid of gold so to cut most of mining on earth for 12 years to get some gold wouldn't help us too much sadly
@@slew9900 That's with old technology, we could likely reach the asteroid belt within 2-3 years now, so it would likely be 4-6 years round trip. The transition would have to be slow but if we started now we could probably have enough supply from space to completely phase out surface mining by the 2060's or 2070's. Also the quantity that they can get from asteroids is a lot more, especially if they can figure out a way to pull one into Earth orbit and mine it there. But yeah if you have 100 billion dollars there are probably better investments to choose from that have better ROI within 5-10 years, asteroid mining likely won't have an attractive ROI for another 15-20 years.
@@science.and.beyondthats true would love to see operations involve snatching asteroids and bringing them to earth orbit
Mining in space costs a hell of a lot more than mining on Earth. Even if it would be beneficial to the environment. The amount of resources and tech needed to do so would cost quite a lot on their own.

The country. say that he was doing this for research for a country and another country took sum of the astroid without permission it could lead to war if they think it’s that serious Times are advancing one day a lot of the resources that are on earth are not gonna be here anymore and we will probably be gone once that happen. War is probably going too happens especially when you’re traveling though space and resources are valuable and scarce🤷🏾♂️ unless by that time we all come together and stop fighting and focus on surviving and moving off of earth 🌍 damn hopefully they find a way for us to live longer I wish I could see that day 😭
Wood is more scarce than gold in our solar system
@@anthonyj5416 This asteroid is particularly rich in minerals, but there are A LOT of metallic asteroids made of precious metals in the asteroid belt.
@@christopherabramor3012 oh that’s good at least that’s good when we start space traveling we probably won’t be there to see unless Elon musk figures out the recipe for immortality 🙏🏾 hopefully
@@anthonyj5416 yea asteroids are importanter than grammars
Gold is valuable because of its rarity.
When and if they ever get to mine it, it would create a huge surplus therfore diminishing its rarity and value.
Gold is also the best electric conductor..!
@@DCeNu At the end of the day electricity is a luxury that most use without much thought if any. Imagine people flexing that there house has electrical gold wiring throughout 😂.
Yea, but in the meantime, somebody will make a fortune.
They're something called "Supply & Demand" they're is not much gold on out plant (Earth) so it has quite a lot of demand currently, when you have so much supply 10,000 Quintillion worth demand will plummet leading the the price of gold to drop including the economy..
Ya Elon musk Tesla is worth less
but the volume of demand would cause a net gain on the overall size of the economy, hypothetically if one thousand ounces of gold is worth a million dollars before mining begins, then after the crash in price once mining begins, if gold is then only worth one dollar per ounce, after mining ten million ounces of gold then the volume of the goes from a million dollars to ten million dollars, so even a price crash in gold per ounce will result in a net gain of total wealth...
What would you rather have, a thousand ounces of gold worth a million dollars or ten million ounces of gold worth ten million dollars?
Thank you for not using cheesy, barely relevant stock footage from those stock video sites.
This would kill golds value since its value is tied to rarity
No it's also based on durability and usefulness.... this will help build fleets of spacecraft and hundreds of thousand satellites.
@@mickbeave3002 gold is maliable it isnt strong its value is being a semi conductor
@Matthew Jones diamonds are about the cuts and also the fact you cant melt out an impurity unlike gold that can be purified to specific karrots
@@mickbeave3002 durable? Really? It's has it applications in space craft but not for durability in anything. That and the amount of gold that thing has is insane. It possibly has more gold in it than the earth itself. And massive influxes in anything in a market even if it has important applications would still kill it's value.
The sell off in the stock market on gold would be intense.Until then I will be holding GDX and I think everyone should
I can see going up there and mining for those minerals what is hard for me to grasp is getting it back to Earth in quantities large enough to pay for the expedition and still make a profit. Gold is extremely heavy, and I'm sure it would be quite the challenge to fly with that much weight in Earth's atmosphere
One gram of gold can be stretched out over an entire tennis court I'm sure they can make it light enough
@@lizneilson5751 tell me which is lighter a ton of gold or a ton of feathers
@@DavidTheMechanic neither its a ton duh
@@lizneilson5751 exactly so how can stretching it out make it lighter??
They can just dump containers of gold into atmosphere and parachute it down
So the RARE earth elements on that asteroid would definitely be a positive thing. Right now a lot of rare elements are, well rare. And in hostile places.
helium is rare on earth but very abundant in space.
Humans: “we are now legally allowed to own asteroids”
Aliens: “no.”
hehe
you can just occupy those celestrial bodies and kills its civilians idk why people call other beings in universe an alien and have a sterotype they are more developed then us , they are not in this solar system buddy we wont meet them soon
I know 99% of people won't see this,
but to the 1% have a blessed day😊
I'm one of the 99%

And this is how hyperinflation of gold will happen.
Oh yeah and with that diamond prices and silver prices I bet will skyrocket
I worked in mining in New Zealand for 11 years, recently a mate told me that his uncle a government mining inspector, said 20 years ago while tunneling somewhere in Otago, they hit a pocket of gold so large it would crash the world gold prices, so they filled the tunnel with concrete.
I believe it.
Yea sure.
Wow
No way, they would’ve slowly sold it until someone found out there was a lot more gold on the market! By that time they would’ve been rich.
I guess I'm coming to New Zealand now:)

Many rare metal sources will be so depleted near the surface of Earth between soon and the next 200 years that mining them from other parts of the solar system are inevitable. The description of Psyche being a Golden Potato may get Walkers Crisps interested as well.
If they were able to add this much gold to the existing heap, the price would be lower than silver.
lower than steel
Gold is a great conductor. We would use it alot more if cheap. Guessing golds low is impossible. Such a useful material
Gold and platinum have great conducting, electronic and advanced technology uses and having a abundance of it would make it cheaper and more effective
Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
