I took it upon myself to go to naija with my wife. Our parents did not want us to go, they did everything to discourage us, but I persisted. Long story short: I love Nigeria, i didnt want to leave. I felt at home, like Nigeria was giving me a big hug and didnt want to let go
I married my husband in Nigeria, that is where he is from. And my family was not happy about it. But what mattered was that I love him and I had the most wonderful time. I didn't want to leave, I cant wait to go back.
Interesting take but not complete. If you're planning to move to Nigeria do your research. Visit for at least two summers and immerse yourself in the culture before you do. Can't help but notice vid was shot along Adetokunbo Ademola/Ajose. I moved back 6yrs now and I must confess the only reason I've survived this long is because I had a family home to move back to in Ikoyi with consistent electricity (grid & generator). In addition my job was only 7mins away from home - so yes life was rosy until I made a decision to move away from home. I wasn't sent packing, I just chose to be an adult and move our. Talk about learning experience. First, my office moved so I moved 16mins away from my office but it takes me about 75mins to drive the same distance at rush-hour. Mind you most of my colleagues have it worse - driving no less than 3hours each way to and from work everyday of the week. Add to this the fact that most with a steady job cannot access a mortgage as you can in the West, so you have to pay rent which is collected 2yrs in advance. You can't trust anyone to come fix things for you & charge you a fair price. First you're sized up and billed accordingly e.g. your vehicle breaks down, the mechanics fixes the ailment then causes another just so you return soon. Finding a job on merit is hard because there are simply not enough jobs for eligible graduates (except of course your parents are well connected). Staying in the job is another, there's what's called "the Nigerian factor". It means a lot of things to a lot of people, but simply put it means you will be faced with compromising your values and ethics more often and more blatantly than you may have been in the West. I've a lot more to say but RUclips won't permit me, but my point is do your research before moving back.
misidee God bless you for telling people that harsh reality and not sugar coating. wish I'd known that a long time ago before choosing to relocate. I relocated because I'd come for ONE summer. ONE. and had the time of my life. when I came back, it was onset of the recession. I'm glad I have my family house to help cushion the blow but still would love that freedom..the only thing that has helped me is the grace of God,my job and my lovely boyfriend 😘

My point is, if your job is 16mins away from where you live, why not get a bicycle or a scooper, just like they do in the West. Help make your life less-stressful.
If you don't want to come with an open mind and you don't want to unlearn somethings to relearn in Nigeria. Then you shouldn't consider relocating back home.

A lot of high -skilled workers are needed to build Nigerias infrastructre in everyway....Engineers of all types in particular!!...Nigeria as a federal government and state govts should incentivize educational travel in the key areas it lacks OR allow Schools to come in and recruit and train students in different areas. NIGERIAN GOVT HAS TO START INVESTING IN THE PEOPLE.....we leave Nigeria and excel in other countries...very sad!

For the life of me I can't understand why people make these videos with a mouthful of gum. It's usually black women who are chewing gum while trying to speak. Ugh... You have ALL DAY to chew gum. Couldn't you have held off for a few minutes while you recorded the video?
