I love this sort of stuff and is another reason why I became a skipper of a rescue vessel here in Melbourne Australia.. You can also hear the skipper working the throttle as he enters and leaves each wave. Great stuff.
Yes it's true, it get harder on the body as time goes by! If yo check out Episode 28 'Time for new adventures' of my Adventures of an old Seadog series there is a tribute to the Rnli you might enjoy. Thanks for watching.
Awesome job you guys do in seas we can never comprehend, but the upside is in boats built to withstand such seas and skippered by experienced captains , manned by volunteers is inspiring . I wish my health was such I could do the same. Welcome to NZ , have followed you for some time .
Just brings home how brave Penlee lifeboat crew were ! Going to sea in a Watson Class wooden lifeboat in the dark in truly mountainous seas to try to rescue the people on the Union Star RIP - as other commentator stated please support the RNLI!
+the fruit hunter Nope, the RNLI is a charity and the lifeboat crews are volunteers. They risk their lives for free on a regular basis - just like the UK mountain rescue. But yes, considering what they do - it's hard to believe that they don't get a living wage from it.
Thanks for posting this Barry. Those seas are unbelievable! All I can think is that being hove to on a sailboat in that mess would be the pits. Heros. Go get em! :)
I was on very fast cutter with a HH52 helo facing 40 ft seas in the Bearing sea. I was not used to this kind of punishment but the crew was great helping save the helo from ripping off of the helo pad. I have seen some outstanding sailors in my 25 years.
I was crew on Newhaven ALB, went out in that sea a number of times, one day the wind blew the sea flat and all you could see was foam forming on the surface and being blown around the boat, that was a weird day.
This is the easy bit she can take this weather. In the dark force ten and trying to get a crew off a ship in distress that is when skill is required.I admire the lifeboats crew it takes a special person to go out and save peoples lives.
RC BLITZ Shannon definitely is. I think a few individual examples of the other newest type was too, or maybe a couple of prototypes. The E class used on the Thames are as well.
Which god are you hoping is going to keep them safe ? Why doesn't this god keep the victim safe ? Excuse me I'm just a bit confused on the logic of religions..
Can't believe you have dislikes. First time I've ever subscribed to any channel because this is bloody good. Great job man. What in the name of Jaysus is there not to like. You're a crazy man but fair play to you (from a Dublin man). I don't even sail but I love it. Stay safe !!
that lifeboats like yeah baby just what I was built for. Like a motocross bike going on its back wheel through a rose garden at Hampton Court Palace. (Nothing stopping it.)
Yup, "2 x MAN 2840 marine diesel; 850hp each at 2,300rpm" They publish the specs of all the boats on the RNLI website (youtube won't allow me to post a link you'd have to google it).
Had a taste of it commercial fishing for halibut west of Kodiak on an 83 ft. converted all wood tug. Had a starboard head that required me to prop myself with both feet and arms. Best dump I ever took. Very exciting although a bit wet.
Long live the RNLI. A lot of people - land lubbers mostly, have no idea that the RNLI is a charity and has no government backing, and they don't want government backing because if they were government backed, they'd be wrapped up in red tape and health & safety, which would mean they wouldn't be able to go out in seas like that and rescue people, and would end up being as useless as the MCA - not that the CG volunteers are useless! The folks who risk their lives are volunteers, Support them!
Wipers we're off . Wouldn't keep up with that force anyway ... And I'm pretty sure they use a clear coat wax ... Means they can see clearly out of all the windows in bad weather
What frightens me is that these volunteers have a Head Office with plenty of well-paid executives who - as with most such Charities - wouldn't put to sea in a puddle but tell these heroes how to do it.
I enjoyed the vid .Bt mm was that wiring sound in background From the suped up Reduct Gearing or super/ Turbo cargers. Bt hey! Those boats are full of grunt, Just like the Top men an woman that risk there own lives to bring us all back when all seems lost.:-):-D
Adventures of an old Seadog you need als guys, I remember going with the us coast guard as an ems medic by air and boat a few times. Got so seasick I wanted to give myself zofran
In what way was the penlee lifeboat different in its construction etc ? That was such a heartbreaking story. It’s very sad to think that no one knows what actually happened to that lifeboat in those moments radio contact wS lost ? I did read perhaps the union star crashed down onto the lifeboat wrecking it ?
Struggling to comprehend who would give this a thumbs down?? Let's hope whoever did never requires the services of a lifeboat
Hopefully they dont breed either lol
I love this sort of stuff and is another reason why I became a skipper of a rescue vessel here in Melbourne Australia.. You can also hear the skipper working the throttle as he enters and leaves each wave. Great stuff.
As a retired engineer off of Canada's 47 ft mlb, I loved the job. Could be rough on the body at times but worth it. Kudos to all that do it.
Yes it's true, it get harder on the body as time goes by! If yo check out Episode 28 'Time for new adventures' of my Adventures of an old Seadog series there is a tribute to the Rnli you might enjoy. Thanks for watching.
Reminds me of Superior.
Lifeboatmen (and women) are amazing people who deserve full admiration and our support.
Nothing but praise for the courageous RNLI CREWS 👌👏👏👏❤️

guitarlover302 Agreed, in a 47 foot wooden Watson Class boat, made in 1968, in hurricane seas "brave" is not a word significant enough .....
guitarlover302 nh
Watsons may have been made of wood ,,, but the men were made of steel.
Don't forget to donate ! These guys risk their lives for free - but the maintenance of the equipment costs. Support the service!
Cheers.
All the due respect for these hero's! you gentlemen just helped restore my faith in humanity again.
Carlos Maldonado Thank you Sir.
I'm pretty sure they get paid.
+the fruit hunter

Thank you all who serve, Humanities finest.
Unbelievable courage when everyone runs for cover, they go out...thank you all
These Life Boats are so impressive!
I was crew on Newhaven ALB, went out in that sea a number of times, one day the wind blew the sea flat and all you could see was foam forming on the surface and being blown around the boat, that was a weird day.
Thanks so much for what you do. Havent had to ever make that call yet byt it sure is nice knowing there are people able to help if need be.
It is isnt it.
Not all heros wear capes but sum hav RNLI badges
This is the easy bit she can take this weather. In the dark force ten and trying to get a crew off a ship in distress that is when skill is required.I admire the lifeboats crew it takes a special person to go out and save peoples lives.
A tough looking rescue boat. Twin diesels, I expect. Hats off to you, gentlemen.
engine specs -
2 x Caterpillar 3412 TA marine diesel engines; 1,250hp each at 2,300rpm
Or
2 x MTU 10V2000 M94 engines; 1,600hp at 2,450rpm
Courage and commitment...selflessness ...rare individuals..thank you all from usa
I hadn't realised how fast they are, it goes off like a rocket at 0:20 Blink and you miss it leaving.
Armin I think he gave it some welly to get some steerage through the gates.
I would guess it uses water jets to enable beaching .
David Farmer the Severn Class Lifeboat is prop driven.
David Farmer yea its only the newer ones that are jet driven
I think the Shannon is not sure tho
RC BLITZ Shannon definitely is. I think a few individual examples of the other newest type was too, or maybe a couple of prototypes. The E class used on the Thames are as well.
I don’t get star struck but these guys are something else.
super brave men , this is something that really does make me proud to be british, and I am not a patriotic sort of guy.God bless em and keep em safe.
+jay tee Thank you.
Paul k without these heroes we would b lost at sea
Same king of men are doing the same kind of service in many country. Most of them are volunteers (e.g. SNSM in France)
Sorry, same KIND of men
Which god are you hoping is going to keep them safe ? Why doesn't this god keep the victim safe ? Excuse me I'm just a bit confused on the logic of religions..
Just shows what the brave souls of the Penlee lifeboat must have endured and worse at night in a wooden lifeboat ! Truly remarkable people
Wow, these boats are beasts!!!
4×v8 mariner engines
These guys too
A good day to be in the pub! Great job guys
Can't believe you have dislikes. First time I've ever subscribed to any channel because this is bloody good. Great job man. What in the name of Jaysus is there not to like. You're a crazy man but fair play to you (from a Dublin man). I don't even sail but I love it. Stay safe !!
Cheers Keith
I've been in Force 11 in a 25000 tonne tanker, wouldn't like to do it in a life boat. Very, very, brave men.
Awesome footage how brave these people are !!!
You couldn't pay me enough to go out in weather like that, let alone do it voluntarily.
I would do it in a heart beat. USAF Watercraft Tyndall AFB 80-86.
SOOOOooo glad that wasn't filmed from the deck of SHADDY !!
She sounds like she is breathing in concert with the waves!
The lovely smooth waters of home..... Brave lads!
Amazing strong engines on the boat..strong as the men
that lifeboats like yeah baby just what I was built for. Like a motocross bike going on its back wheel through a rose garden at Hampton Court Palace. (Nothing stopping it.)
I really enjoy the video. Very bad sea conditions
Toni Nieto

Respect the the guys and girls that risk their lives in pursuit of saving others for no benefit of their own.personal safety
money is a benefit.
+the fruit hunter there are a lot of volunteers
Most of them aren't payed
Some absolute tool my friend.
My recollection of weather forecasts is "Storm force 10".
Had a taste of it commercial fishing for halibut west of Kodiak on an 83 ft. converted all wood tug. Had a starboard head that required me to prop myself with both feet and arms. Best dump I ever took. Very exciting although a bit wet.
how do these boats handle north atlantic storm season waves?
Long live the RNLI. God bless lads
Surprised the boat could move given the size of the cajones of the lads on board.
The very definition of the word gnarly
God love and preserve them.
I could not do that as I would be really sick and vomiting ......they are brave men..
Well done guys!
Being in the coastguard helos
rescues this brings back old memories
To think that "back in the day" guys went out in open oar-powered boats to carry out a rescue.
Brave men, I love a rough sea, but got to be in the right boat.
Yikes! I never want to be out in that. Force 8 gusting F9 is the worst I have ever endured and I thought I was a goner
Wow! That'd be a crazy ride!
ok i think i know what im doing when i get old enough
joining the crew of a US COAST GUARD MOTOR LIFEBOAT in oregon!
Great vid. Ex RNLI shore helper here. out of interest what are they using to clear the water off the windows so quickly ? RainX ?
Just the windscreen wipers as far as I know. Cheers.
No. I mean when the water hits the screen it just repels it right away. not the wipers
Wipers we're off . Wouldn't keep up with that force anyway ... And I'm pretty sure they use a clear coat wax ... Means they can see clearly out of all the windows in bad weather
Sometimes wonder if I can still afford£10 monthly. But can I afford not to donate it? Amazing blokes and women- not needed their help yet but.....
What do you guys coat your windows with, it must be good stuff
What frightens me is that these volunteers have a Head Office with plenty of well-paid executives who - as with most such Charities - wouldn't put to sea in a puddle but tell these heroes how to do it.
Again l say. Eternal Father Amen.
Is it a Severn class lifeboat?
yes
Ah Jet Ski waves, nice!
Wow, my kind of guys, trust in the weaponry. Out there cool.
out of interest does anyone know if this was an actual emergency call or were they training?
It was a real callout. As it was a few years ago now I can't remember the job just the bad weather.
Ok yep yep. That’s nuts!
Halmatic make the best boats for their size going.
Hi Bernie. The Rnli makes it's own boats. Ex Rnli lifeboats get sold on. Some are in China and Iceland having second lives. Thanks for watching.
Howlin' v-drives.
Ever seen any rouge waves ?
No rouge ones, mostly they're all green
What size engine do these lifeboats have, must have to be very powerful ?
2 x Caterpillar 3412 TA marine diesel engines; 1,250hp each at 2,300rpm
Or
2 x MTU 10V2000 M94 engines; 1,600hp at 2,450rpm
Got like 4 ×v8mariner engines will batter right trough must have pretty good hull
this is a severn class lifeboat and has 1250 hp caterpillar engines
Some have now been refitted with more powerful MTU engines
I enjoyed the vid .Bt mm was that wiring sound in background From the suped up Reduct Gearing or super/ Turbo cargers. Bt hey! Those boats are full of grunt, Just like the Top men an woman that risk there own lives to bring us all back when all seems lost.:-):-D
Are they going on a rescue mission?
Yes. Plymouth lifeboat and its volunteer crew on call 24 hours a day 360 days a year.
This is cool
The REAL 4th emergency service.
Honestly, in these conditions, i would have rather been on a nordhavn 68 or 76, but a 52 could still handle this, thos e boats really are beasts!
WOW!
Do you guys use paramedics onboard
All the crew have basic medical training.
Adventures of an old Seadog you need als guys, I remember going with the us coast guard as an ems medic by air and boat a few times. Got so seasick I wanted to give myself zofran
All I could think was turn on the wipers!
We call that "Wednesday" here in windy Melbourne
Lovely sea 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
You have to go out, but you don't have to come back !
BRAVE
Britannia rules the waves.
Flat sea for me
Bravest of the brave
The only thing nice about this is the sound of those engines
In what way was the penlee lifeboat different in its construction etc ? That was such a heartbreaking story. It’s very sad to think that no one knows what actually happened to that lifeboat in those moments radio contact wS lost ? The Penlee Lifeboat ‘Solomon Browne’ was a wooden Lifeboat for a start. She was wide beam and shallow draught. Top speed of around 11 knots.
stay safe
Anther days fishing raglan new zealand on west coast
F10 50+ knots
wow!
true job for men
Also recpect
Lumpy seas
Ma non hanno visto che non era una buona giornata per andare a pesca!🤣
VERAMENTE E UNA SPEDIZIONE DI RICERCA E SOCCORSO.chiaramente se non comprendi la lingua inglese.....
Nah, it'll be fine.
Force 7
