With respect, this seems a painfully slow launch, thinking of the rescuee at the other end? Even if it was only an exercise, it takes far too long. Surely the RNLI must have to reconsider beach launchings in favour of sites with a direct ramp to the sea?
In a real emergency they will launch immediately, this was an exercise so running the diesel and warming her up and checking everything on a drill evening looks like what they were doing...
In regards to a ramp, many of the English coastline spots are flat beaches with no areas for an adequately angled ramp. Equipment is designed for use in the areas.
