- Video: www.lastwave.de | B. Berezovsky during his recording of the Chopin/Godowsky Etudes in April 2005. He plays the Etude op. 10 No. 12, followed by the Godowsky left hand version. Available on CD from Warner Classics.
The candle going out at 2:37 was spooky. The flawless godowsky performance at 2:49 was terrifying
That red light indicates that the recording is on or off. They turned off the recording there.
Chopin: I've made a set of etudes that every pianist will fear forever! No one can make them harder!
Godowsky: I'll hold my beer
The pianist literally can drink a beer while he playing the piece 'cause one hand is free :))
Clever girl
😂
This is one of the hardest and best played things I've seen in my useless life.
Its been 7 years im a bit late to say this but go listen to Liszt's mazeppa or Chopin's mazurka's
@Franz Liszt mostly yes
@@demirzengin_ mazeppa is nowhere near the hardest Liszt étude. From the same set there is Feux Follets, and of course from the 1838 Paganini set there is no. 4
Berezovsky plays with such clarity (and this video's sound quality is great too)... a few other versions on youtube are a bit faster, but I think this is the best version I've seen regardless.
The Godowsky version is stunning, as well.
DIdnt you hear the news about him_?,The last news about him?.you will hate him from now on...i mean, if you are against RUSSIA and Putin.
I think this is certainly the best version of the Godowsky version of the Revolutionary Etude I have heard. Berezovsky's playing of the Chopin Etude itself is superb and stunning too.
I've been playing 13 years now and I was practicing Chopin's Revolutionary for 3 years till I got it to today's final version, but it's definitely worth to try, I love Chopin and the Revolutionary is my heart thing
"If I was Boris, I'd be sipping a cup of tea with my right hand during this. That'd be epic lol."
- Dunno where that comment went, but it deserves to be at the top...
@Franz Schubert so are you ;)
So musical. The structure of the piece is his priority-- the technique just serves to accomplish his ideas--not a series of tasks or stunts. Fantastic.
He won the Tchaikovsky competition
Absolutely fantastic, especially the second piece
Outstanding. Simply outanding!!
And doubly outstanding for the Godowsky version. Beautiful and inspirational!
Thank you : )
I wish Godowski could have a second version, keeping the same lef hand and adding the right hand to it. How incredibly dificult it would be, but there´s always someone to play...
Yeah but it'd be such a hard mental and physical challenge
@@DPNack_ Yes, but soon someone solve the puzzle. There's always someone who can figure out how to do it, 😅
@@DihelsonMendonca I mean sure but it's gonna be some situation like the Appassionatasonata by Beethoven when nobody believed it could be played before LISZT SAID "AIGHT BET" so if it were to happen that's how I think it would
Godowsky version simply amazed
I love the way he always looks so incredibly bored when he's playing. Like it's just too easy for him. Reminds me of Horowitz.
Lol
Or Hamelin playing Chopin-Godowsky Étude No. 1
Horowitz just had lightened keyboard
Berezovsky is great and all, but Horowitz was god. And he never sweated like Boris :)
Since childhood I've been heavily leant towards baroque, still am, but naturally I love music; all kinds, heard so many records, seen so many artists, one better than the other but Mr. Berezovsky has brought Chopin and Rachmaninov closer to me simply by playing it. If that is not the gift of music I don't know what is.
it's great how he doesn't smudge it all with pedal that lots of performers do to cover up for technical blemishes in their left hand :D awesome!
2:48 left hand etude...
Absolutely amazing
Wish I had been born with this sort of talent. He is brilliant.
Thats something you learn, not something you are born with.
Despite tempo, Godowsky's version is enormously difficult. It is quite common for professional pianists to play Chopin's Etudes, but not more than a few have ever recorded Godowski's.
Absolutely brilliant! No words... bravo.
Speechless, nice left hand and composition too!
a fanatic, impressive the easy way he plays, the powerful and deep vibe, fantastic
Left hand be looking at the right hand like HEEELP MEEEEEEEEEE
honestly? I liked the second one he played better than the 1st. I like the 1st, but not so much the way he played it, the 2nd was cool, so of this performance, I like the 2nd better.
I agree the 'second', or the Godowsky transcription is much more controlled, stems from the fact that more concentration and a more even distribution of energy and power is required, where as the right-hand, independently delivers the velocity on its own.
The first (original version) was probably no challenge at all for him. Cheers!
he is truly gifted. great performance.
The piano looks so small compare to him.
***** Well, true
Riza hariati berezovsky is tall?
hgy
@Franz Liszt ne biliyim litkz abi
Yes right!
O-O WoW! This is the best version I heard yet. And the sound quality is AWESOME! Best video yet!
So sad his career ended as it did. Boris Berezovsky 1969-2022.
holy shit, your comment is how I found out about his controversy… wow wtf
I've been playing close to 13 years and can (sortof) work my way through the Revolutionary Etude. That said, the second half of this video is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on a piano.
intense, the right tempo and dynamics, what a great pianist!!
God that was amazing! I never new someone else made another version, it was so cool!
Bravo. ;)
Berezovsky is one of my favourite pinaists. Fantastic interprte
ation of this music peace.
Soooooo beautiful music .....I love it .
He makes it look so easy👍👍👍😄
Something Captain Hook could realistically play on piano!
@JupiterIV no its right
If I were him I would totally drink a cup of coffee playing
I'm not kidding, he could probably do it =P
Not only Incredible but with a different insight! Just wonderful!
WHAT IS THIS MADNESS???!!! LIKE!!!
Bravo!!!! Genial interpretación !!!
His playing is effortless
I love it.I love it...Thank you very much for video !!!
Wow it's just the way i would like to play it.. very clear version, i like it very much i must say!
I wish I could have been the 1 person in the audience. Boris Berezovsky
Absolutely gorgeous Chopin and Godowsky !
Wouaou!!!!! Amazing piano player!!!!
Left hand version was amazing!
Actually, Godowski version is more refined.
Fantastic!❤
I'd even go as far to say that the left hand version is just as easy to play blindfolded. No exaggeration.
Impressive!
One of the finest pianist in our era, he is.
Okay, despite the top comments, is it weird that I find Godowsky's left hand transcriptions to be much easier than the original etudes at times? This being one of them- Revolutionary for left hand is so much easier for me than the original version, probably because the whole song is configured into one hand... but maybe that's just me.
That being said, it must be reiterated that Godowsky's studies are no cake walk.
HELL yea. That'd be a sight to behold. It just hit me that many of Godowsky's reworkings of the Chopin etudes are old school 'mashups'. Not necessarily this one, but man it's badass!
Stupendous, stunning!
twisted awsome, umbelievable.
Just amazing !
I have attended at his concert, was very amazing :)))
just wrapped this piece up like 10 minutes ago, but it doesnt sound like this! he's so awesome:)
Wonderfulllllll!!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!
Finally someone who can play this properly!
I never liked the upper keys on the piano anyway...
CaptnButtonSmash lol
but u don't have to press KEY LOCK
This man surely has a gift from God
So great, but can be ever better, and he knows it!
perfectly wonderful
There is really no doubt about how good Berezovsky is...
So great Boris!!!
This is one of the best interpretations of this piece.
It's kinda more difficult to play it with only one hand like this, but though it's difficult, he could do it so beautiful. Thumbs up :D
Espetacular! E a versão do Godowsky é meio-tom acima da original.
Chapeau !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree entirely. I also think that Berezovsky's performance of the Godowsky's version of the "Revolutionary Etude" is rather nice.
No, it's not easier. Godowsky's version is left hand only, which is a lot harder than Chopin's. Although Chopin's is faster, Godowsky combines all the parts into the left hand, which is extremely difficult to play.
BRAVO.i wonder if his hands would get tired or not....its so amazing...
Great rendition ✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️
phenomenal!
ridiculously sick!
i really like his 10/12 he doesnt rush through the beggining like a lot of people
i like 1:55
Amazing the Part with the left hand!
I'm trying to learn this etude! And when i've mastered something like this i'll fo sure feel amazing!
Beautiful, flawless performance and good dynamics too. Right up there with Horowitz, Rubinstein and my all-time favorite Chopin performer, Claudio Arrau. This was the first time I have heard the Godowsky version, and I must say I enjoyed it: it brings out the deeper and lower voice of the piano.
AMAZING
lol, epic, the candle blew out at 2:42
I'll cut my hands off!
He is absolutely awesome!
he is one of the big pianists out there - you should check out his work!
BRAVO.
Grande! Grandissimo!
Wowwwwww! !!
Maravilloso, estupendo, saludos desde Lima-Perú.
