Indeed, the expansion starts off with full-on WAR between Alliance and Horde after Theramore was mana-bombed.
PvP was amazing, quests were interesting and lore-rich, environment was gorgeous, great raids like Thunder King and Siege of Orgrimmar, and there was so much content.
I think a ton of people, myself included, thought this would be some disney-esque baby nonsense but thank god I was wrong. Dragonflight tho...
Pandarian's were part of Warcraft lore for a long time before the Kung Fu Panda movie. But when this came out everybody thought it was a Kung Fu Panda rip off because there were just so many younger players who had never heard of a Pandarian before this expansion was announced. So many people had this same reaction. I didn't play the expansion myself but it wasn't due to the Pandarians. I had quit playing WoW because I didn't like the Cataclysm expansion and I didn't start playing again until Legion.
yes (and btw, pandarian's were initially the new race of burning crusade) and in fact it's the best extension in term of lore beside legion
other extensions are very bad (in particular WotLK because of all the warcraft3 retcon and the arthas lich king action that don't make any sense, there is not a single mention of nerzhul in the whole extension)
(i'm not talking about gameplay, only lore)

@@drdankenstein1753 It is and im tired of pretending like its not. Wrath is great, Legion and BFA are goats too. But nothing scales to BFA's cinematic. BFA cinematic is the Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith, Return of the King, Dune 2 level in comparison to the others.

The first pandaren we saw in a game was Chen Stormstout back in wc3. The draenei didn't landed in Azeroth till TBC which is around 5 years later
MoP had my some of the most beautiful zones the rest was alright.
I never had an issue with Pandas, I just didn't like that they made them so goofy. :P Their silliness really stood out compared to everything else, it was kind of jarring.
When Mist of Pandaria was announced, many players reacted like Mizkif and were excited before the release. Pandas? How come? I still say today: Why not? The scenery in Pandaria was magnificent. The storyline was good. And as Pokimane rightly asks: green orcs, blue draenei with tentacles on their faces and two-legged cows are ok, but pandas aren't? Unfortunately, there was a lot of grind in Pandaria. Otherwise I thought it was really good.

I said its not a joke, as there was Pandaren in Warcraft 3 mission, which was lore for founding of Orgrimmar... and he talked about Pandaria and beer.
Many people thought its pandering to Chinese players.
Not to mention the great music.
grind was not that bad tbh, mop expansion was very good at least story wise and the mogu's especially thunder king grrrrr best lore. so fcking awesome

I don't think homie knows that the Pandarens originated in Azeroth. They weren't new in Mists of Pandaria they were a part of Warcraft III and then became playable in the World of Warcraft expansion.

they were an april fools easter egg in warcraft 3, one that they continued in wow in some places like darkshore with the stranded turtle skeleton with a hut on it, but they were not meant to be taken seriously until they thought (actually thats how it went, there are interviews) "wait a second, we are just doing warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 story continuations, we want to do something cool that we thought up all on our own" and the execs at actiblizz said "nah" and then they said "look, pandas, thats something from warcraft 3" and the execs said "ok" and then the wow team went and was happy because outside of a april fools easter egg in wc3 and a gray book item in wow vanilla that mentions them, there was nothing done on the pandas background and they could do all the writing themselves without having to make it work with wc2 and wc3 lore. and it was shit.... (also: the reason they also liked doing pandas with poor little chinese farmers and evil japanese empire mogus trying to keep the poor panda comrade down until they revolted and built their paradise that lasted until evil westerners came with bad chi and destroyed everything, is because the ccp liked that and they wanted to really push into the chinese market with that one)

You can't watch these wtihout watching the Warcraft 3 cinematics first, gives so much context and they are amazing too.
Also the illidan legion cinematics are so good.
Seeing Mizkif wrongly explain parts of WoW lore really annoys me. Especially when you can EASILY tell he's just making things up to try to sound like he knows when he doesn't.

The one you talking about is not WoW trailers like the one they watched. It's in-game cinematics, and there is a lot of them since wrath. But they did miss the new one, from the war within

I really hate when people like him incessantly shit on it because they don't like pandas. As if WoW hasn't always had a lot of cartoony humor and whimsy. They just ignore all the fantastic stuff they did with MoP because they have to much toxic masculinity and can't bother acknowledging an expansion that isn't overly edgy.
@@Stickarms99 I had to try the game twice to like it. I first played this in TBC but didn't like the cartoony graphics. Then a lot of my friends started playing during WotLK and I gave it another try because I wanted to play with my friends and I started liking it. I started raiding in Cataclysm but really got good with MoP. I originally came from Lineage 2 and compared to that WoW looks like My Little Pony.

I also agree, when MOP came out, I felt such a cartoony vibe to it, like a movement away from serious to more silly and not really true warcraft feeling because of it. The gameplay was fun, just the presentation when I saw the expansion reveal. Had the move fun with my druid in MOP.

I've never understood people's problem with the MoP expansion.
I'm not a big panda-fan either, but apart from that MoP was just great. Pandaria was beautifully designed, the story telling was excellent and it was just full of content (pet battles, brawlers guild, scenarios, dungeon challenge mode, class trials, the farm you could build from scratch and use to harvest your food ingredients, hidden treasures, a ton of rare mobs which were a real challenge at least until you were able to outgear) even aside the general leveling/questing, daily quests, dungeon and raid content.
It was the last expansion, that allowed flying when max level was achieved, not that bs they started with WoD when you were stuck on the ground for month until they opened a new zone to grind reputation and achievements via daily quests in order to gain the skill to finally ride your huge collection of flying mounts again. And then they wondered why people kept hanging in their garrison all day and didn't use the open world anymore.
I've only got good memories when it comes to Pandaria. My way to deal with the pandas was just not to play one.
MoP is one of the very few expansions that could get me back to WoW if there was a classic version of it.

Mizkif didn't explain to pokimane that the Lich King in wrath is not the same as the Lich King in shadowlands. Wrath of the Lich King is Arthas and shadowlands is Bolvar.
