I almost skipped this video because I've seen so many bad "# cool things" videos. But I'm glad I didn't, because you've got me seriously looking at router tables differently. As much as I've seen them used in RUclips videos, I haven't really see how *I* would use one, and this shows me. Thanks!
I think everyone would love to have those kind of tools guy but That doesn’t take away from the fact that you make a very good video with perfect explanations of how to. I only wish I was as confident with my woodworking as you are with yours. Keep up the good work my friend.
Thanks for the video! I just picked up a router from a nice older man. Thought I was just buying the router, but he pulled out a router table top. I was so excited, as I was just going to make a basic table myself.
I'm used to larger, corded routers ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.
Very nice router table l am lucky with working in joinery shop we have a spindle moulder it’s always nice to see what other joiners do you can learn other ways thank you and stay safe 🇬🇧
One of the best masters on the internet and beautiful quality of camera shots and video a resounding success. I have subscribed to your channel ... We appreciate your great knowledge and patience in producing such great videos. Many are unaware of the immense work to produce a video like this ... Muchas gracias...
Note- if using solid wood panels do not glue the panel to the frame and be particularly careful not to get glue on the corners of the panel when assembling the frame. This is because the solid panels will expand and contract with changes in humidity and must be free to do so. The panels are apt to split if not free to move.
@@GuysShop which would you pick, The incra or The woodpeckers router table? I can’t figure out which one you have currently. I’m in The market for one, but I can’t make up my mind which to get
Outstanding video Guy. This is the type of help and instruction that I need. You did an excellent job explaining and demonstrating the techniques you were using. Thanks.
Very nice video man. I just installed my router beside my rigid contractors table saw. I extended the fence then built in the platform . Now I can use the fence with my tablesaw with my router . Lol just need a dedicated router for it , such a pain unscrewing it every time I need to use it hand held. Some nice tips in this video
Can you tell me where you sourced the rails to extend your Rigid table saw fence? I looked for rails to extend mine, but they are no longer made (if they ever were). Thank you in advance, sir!
I love how the height adjust on that insert. Do you have to lock it down after adjusting so the bit doesn't move? Seems like the vibration and pressure could move the bit if not.
Im betting he locks it down before every cut. I dont have a table router lift, I just use the built in lift on my Triton router but if I dont lock it down Ill sometimes find my cuts changing height. I learned the hard way but I did learn, Lock It Down For Every Cut!!!!
I router small 2x3 pieces of wood only 3/16th deep. Its just the end that I cut out. So its 1x2 inches by 3/16 deep, shaped somewhat like an Omega ( The omega sign or horse shoe shape stays) sign on one end of this wood. Its such little cutting I use a drill press. Also because I need to see what I am cutting. I been using a 1/4" straight bit in the drill press. It works ok but would like to try a router and table. How would I do this with a router and router table? I cant see the cutting, to know how to shape the Omega sign ( again its the closet way to describe what shape I am cutting). The depth is very important. . Making a jig would be difficult and the depth will change with different pieces that I cut. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
I agree with others that you can do all of this on a more modest table. I made my own, saving my money for the more important CNC machine. Takes slightly longer to adjust, but the time is my own.
This movie is very interested and demonstrates such things which I haven't realized that exists. Please let me know what type of router do you use, This device has impressive way of adjustment, so I would like to buy something like this one. Do you know if it is possible to buy such machine in Europe (particularlu in Poland where I live). I appeciate your response in advance.
I rip off the edge banding so it is already the proper thickness. No waste and no trimming. The thickness of the wood becomes the width of the edge banding. The width of the piece ripped off is the thickness of the plywood. On the mortise where is your fence mounted stop?
I'm very impressed the router table, especially the clamping jig which was something that I have been contemplating for long. Thanks for sharing. Hope one day I can have one of this nice table, and the skills!
I have an old table router I inherited from my father-in-law. It doesn't have the possibility of having a bearing on the bits. It has a 1/2" shank and I have to put spacers to get it to about the right height, then there's an adjustment handle and lock-down handle to fine-tune the height. What do you recommend for doing the plywood/hardwood job on this type of router?
Yea, I'm with Tallyman..What happened to the Incra Router table?.. Last year I spent almost 2 grand for that whole set-up you showed. (I still haven't finished building the drawers). Did Woodpeckers offer a better sponsorship deal? Now I have to buy another router table to keep up with you...lol
Hi Guy- this is very helpful. Wondering what kind of wood did you use for the raised panel? I’m having a hard time finding solid wood in a width wide enough for the panel. Was it actually separate boards edge-glued together? I know plywood is also an option....but I’d rather solid hardwood if I can find it. Thx.
Thanks! I used cherry for the demo here. If youm can't find lumber wide enough for yur door panels, gluing up several boards to get the width of panel you need is accaptable
This is a really good video, Guy. So many great tips for everyone to learn from. That router table is awesome too. I have it on my short list of upgrades.
Hi Guy, Can you tell us what you thought of the tricked out woodpecker setup compared to your badass Incra rig? For adjustments which worked better? manual or leadscrew micro adjust, which do find more useful? what about the router lift, which once do you find better?
Cody - I have the Incra. I really liked the fact that I could micro adjust my fence when I was cutting some dove tail splines for a box I was making. Really made getting the fit perfect much easier. I will say, that it was my first time making dove tail splines though.
Excellent video! What brand of bead and stile bits are you using? I assumed they were made by WoodPecker, but when I went to their website, I was surprised to see, that they only seem to carry bits from other manufacture's (Whitside & Amana).
I know, right! I had to start laughing because the router table probably cost more AND looks more beautiful then anything in my shop. I just checked th he price on it...$1289.00 bare bones. This guy has several options on his that isn't shown in standard one. Lolol

I would suggest using a hand plane, at an angle, to smooth where the hardwood used to edge band the plywood is “proud.”

It's impossible to get such sophisticated equipment you have.
All these thing can be done on the simplest of router tables.
It's obviously possible. It's sold and people buy it.

I borrowed my uncles, Harbor Freight router table, and bits for the weekend. Will I get results like this? Lol
