I Love Chive Vinegar & the Flowers in Salads. 👍
I chop up fresh Chives & put a Teaspoon in melted Butter, & put in a silicome Ice cube tray, freeze & bag up, it's great in Mashed Spuds. I do this with Basil, Mint, Rosemary & Parsley too.
TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶

You want something even better? I often have chives, thyme and sage all blooming at the same time. Use 1/3 of each of those flowers to flavor white wine vinegar. Excellent in salad dressings or on cooked greens, amazing in poultry marinades.

@@HomesteadCorner according to the USDA we are in a slightly colder zone than you, but I’m going to move my herbs into the ground and mulch heavily. I’m hoping at least my chives, mint, oregano, sage and catnip will survive, MAYBE even my parsley. Back in Seattle I had a bay laurel tree and a rosemary bush both taller than me! Guess Dorothy isn’t in Kansas anymore! ❤️🇺🇸

I just found your program and you have covered so many ideas and recipes that very few other people do. I signed up. I will be going through all your other videos. Thank you for this one. We moved here 2 years ago and there are so many chives among my flowers. I heard they were good for the roses so I left them. I’m not terribly crazy for chives but I will try some of the recipes and ideas others have shared. That would make nice birthday or Christmas gifts for those that like chives. Which is most of my family. I would like some ideas on what to do with Rosemary. I’m afraid to use it because it will over power the food with its taste. (That happened a couple of time.) Thanks for taking the time to put this information out there. 😊

I use my rosemary with garlic and make a compound butter. It goes great with any beef or chicken. We also make a garlic and chive butter, which is great on potatos!
But, No, small amounts of rosemary (chopped or diced) will not over power your food. It will take it to the next level of old worldly flavors. We also use it when roasting chicken, and when roasting vegetables. You can add it to flavor your cooking oils. You can even use it to make scented candles and lamp oils!
We use it so much, I have split my original bush about 10 times, and have multiple bushes growing.
