YES!!! I feel the same way. It's a sense of gotta keep.prepping as much as we can, something is about to happen.
I did that when we had a cat. She was 18 when she passed. We still have the buckets. Makes great wash buckets to wash the car and small hand washables. I store boxes of fabric softner sheets in them, dry laundry sheets (i no longer by bottles or powder). I have bars of soap in a bucket (i make my own soaps), so nothing gets to them. Plastic baggie boxes are stored in them. I also make my own firestarters with dryer lint and drippings of candle wax in an empty toilet paper tube and store them in the buckets. We have made nesting boxes out of them as well, for the chickens. Since we have chickens, I have been buying their grubs in 11lb buckets and saving them. We store the foods that are in mylar bags, in them for long term. It has been working great. Both are a great way to store stuff.

Gathered all the items that can not be repaired like socks, underwear, t-shirts, dress and flannel shirts removing the buttons first. Keeping 1 or 2 pairs of old shoes to work in the yard. Searching stores for sweat clothes on clearance for fall, throws, etc. Making repairs from last winter storm damage, getting the cars set up for summer weather. Etc. Getting rid of the clutter to make room for preps.

A tip I need to share..I thought I was being diligent by putting my unopened boxes of jiffy cornbread mix in gallon ziploc bags and various crackers in the plastic shoeboxes with the snap down lids.
I had to throw away everything in baggies and plastic boxes. Those little pantry moths got inside all of them. They tried to get into the screw type lids, but couldn’t get past the first layer of threads.

Hey Jinne! I use baking powder after the expiration date and just add a little extra to retain it's rising capability. Thank you for your insight for this video. I have learned so much listening to you. Tomorrow I'm going to town because finally after 8 weeks, yes 8, there's a sale on meat. It's boneless skinless chicken breast and thighs. I have some pork to can as well. I can it in pint jars so it doesn't go to waste. There's 2 people in my house. It's good sense about putting food in mylar bags, or plastic bags to protect your food from vermin. After all if I have spent money for food, or sweated for it in the garden then in the pantry using food grade buckets for that extra barrier.

@@livenletlive7537 hi! That is excellent! 30 pounds! Holy guacamole! I'll bet you were tired. Have you ever heard of the saying "a pints a pound the world around"? I truly admire your stamina. That must be a comfort to you. I know that I get a feeling of accomplishment when I get done canning. I think that the most fun I've had canning is beets because they are easy to can, and look so lovely in the jars. I have every kind of meat canned that's under cellophane at the grocery store. And a few more. Like meatloaf. Sausage links is also something that looks nice in jars too plus it's an open and eat food. I've been canning year round the last few years. Tomorrow I hope to get a few more cases of jars for soups and garden vegetables. Then I'll be working in the garden planting. I'm in Southern Wisconsin. Where are you, if you don't mind my asking.

    Thank you for your video.
A one gallon glass jar hold ten lbs of Baking Soda, ... don't ask me how I know. We can only buy the little 1lb box here BUT! I found a fifty pound bag at the wholesalers for $54.52 and it's on my next "to get" list.
Baking powder is a pre-mixed concoction that does weaken over time. Mix 1/2 tsp cream of Tartar, 1/4 baking soda for a strong baking powder that equals one tsp.
Yeast makes beer and wine too! And alcohol makes vinegar if you know how to distill it.
Gotta love flour, ...and wheat berries. I have to phone the Grain Elevator again to see if the price of whole wheat has changed. Last time I called it was $355 a ton. That's a whack of wheat. Last year it was $400 a ton, ... go figure.
I just scored 55lb of course sea salt from the Dead Sea of all places. Expensive at $40 BUT! Just found some different course salt for $13.85 for 44lb, .... that's on the "to get" list too and I can't go wrong.
The cheapest sugar here is 44lb for $35. I have a couple of hundred lb now but I'm not stopping. AND! There' 25kg buckets of Molasses at the wholesalers for $99.00. About 5lb to the gallon.
They are killing us with the price of Rice at the big box store. 8kg, (17.6lb) of Jasmine Rice is $26. Thank god for the wholesalers because I can buy 44lb of Long Grain White Rice for $43.00. I now have a goal of 200lb to get.
Green Lentils are on the missing list here in the stores so when I found a 10kg (22lb) bag for $34.00 I bought it and it's Grade A Green Lentils too. 10kg of Navy Beans are the same price as the Lentils but what the heck, get them while the getting is good.
I'm really praying I can keep my flock of chickens going. And having said that, I have just started dehydrating eggs and storing them in glass with oxygen absorbers.
Been doing a focused prep on Powdered Skim Milk and it's funny too because the wholesalers wants $155 for 10kg but the big box store only wants $120. I pack that away in one gallon Mylar bags.
And last, I found 15kg buckets of Coconut Oil at the wholesalers for $116.72, ... and I'm getting at least one of those too.
My big job today was shucking a crate of Bar Clams and they will get pressure canned tomorrow. Looks like I got a great yield too. At least a case and a half of pints, and maybe more.
Keep up the great work and good luck.

For the really heavy food items such as granulated sugar and culinary salt, I use two-gallon size food buckets for long-term storage. These smaller buckets filled with heavy food are much easier to lift than filled five-gallon buckets and less likely to cause back strain. I keep raw honey, coconut oil and olive oil in the original plastic or glass containers but would put these inside either two-gallon buckets or small size cardboard boxes if I needed to relocate my food storage in a hurry. The last thing I want is to be side lined by a sudden flair up of back pain if I need to load my truck with food storage and do an emergency evacuation.

Most of what you showed are the basic building blocks especially for baking all sorts of items like breads, cakes, biscuits and more. Prepared foods may be convienient but more and more containing very unhealthy ingredients and you can also adjust your ingredients for recipes to not use as much sugar or salt and it will still be great. Eating healthy is always important but will be even more so in emergency situations.

Jenni, how do you can your butter? Do you just cook and hot jar seal, hot water bath, or preasure can. That would be a great video, if you haven't already done a video on that. Thanks great must have video ❤.

Great video Jinnie. You'll have to get a cat to chase the mice out of your pantry. We've had bad times with mice and thank goodness for our cats. What happens to your chickens in the winter months? I need to get some of those big buckets. Food is getting harder to find some days and it definitely isn't going to get cheaper. Thanks for helping us get a great survival pantry together. Stay safe
