I play this piece since 1985, when I was 15. After 30 years, I still can´t play it with 1% of the talent, perfection and taste of this marvelous woman.
+Ako Tai If you cannot read and UNDERSTAND the simple text that I wrote then who needs medical help? Who said that I can't play it at all? I just compared both skills: Mine is not 1% as good as her's!!! Read well first!!!
I doubt Chopin intended any of his compositions to be played in allocated time periods. Amusing that some still think of this as a "can you play it in 60 seconds?" affair!
Man, I wish RUclips were around 20 years ago! I played this piece but had no real idea how it should properly sound, plus I'm not a good enough pianist to figure it out. Beautifully played! Thank you so much!
My girls are learning piano now, so I've taken the opportunity to collect all my old piano books (My parents brought them to me from their house in Canada on a visit!) and I've been seeing if I can still play some of the (simpler!) songs I used to play! In some ways it's much easier now, but I've lost a lot of practice time over the years.
J'adore Valentina!
Awesome!!! Valentina plays this with such ease and Heart! Tough piece for any musician especially in 5 flats!!!! A true World Class Artist at her finest!!!!
@ValentinaLisitsa Ahh that would be brilliant! I have not heard either of those recordings, I will go listen now! I also thinks its awesome how you reply to so many comments, we fans really appreciate it!
...each and everytime i take a special ticket for a "voyage" of 1 min 48 sec out of this body, into the interstellar... Thank You Madame Valentina Lisitsa !
For all the people saying the tempo was too fast, pianists around the world attempt the play the song as fast as possible and some experts even say that there's no wrong tempo for this, that the song sounds good on various speeds. Some pianists practice to attempt to play this song in one minute (the "minute" is the song title is a misinterpretation of the song nickname "mini" because it's a really short waltz, not because it's meant to be played in one minute, but that hasn't stopped people from trying). For playing the song in one minute, it would have to be played at almost 420 quarter notes per minute. One of the virtuosos who managed to do this was Liberace, who even took the liberties of cutting the pauses and playing it in 37 seconds.
Brava Valentina un tocco molto leggiadro e dolce a mio parere. Ho ascoltato tante volte il brano da tanti artisti diversi,il tuo è molto piacevole, grazie della performance
@ValentinaLisitsa Oh my God yeeeeeeeessss, thank you for your reply! There is a great organization here that organizes concerts and recitals. They prepared many great Chopin-themed concerts last year since his 200th anniversary just went by. And now it's Liszt year! It is a modest venue with a rather limited audience but we (as a guy who never misses a concert) really appreciate the value of the talent that comes. Best wishes from Guatemala and we really wish you can perform here!
Listen to the clarity of the chords in the left hand. Now listen to Lang Lang play it - you cannot hear the same clarity. Valentina is the pinnacle of musical ability on the piano. Every note crystal clear, played exactly with the speed and expression the piece dictates at every point in time, with her own interpretation. Flawless.
Siempre amé este vals de Chopin desde que lo escuché en mi adolescencia. Fue una de sus primeas piezas que me permitió llegar a él y a su música tan única e incomparable.
Hi Valentina, you are one of my favourite pianists! I am 8 and I trying to work very hard on this song. I hope that I'll play like you one day. You sure are a talented pianist!
Thank you for Valentina, the upload of the first animation of this year. Was settled down to the waltz of the puppy which listened to so far; is played. I look forward to a concert in Japan of March very much. All your animations almost add plus evaluation to all animations in a favorite. Please upload a lot of animations this year.
Why are there people in the comments sections of these kind of videos saying things like: “I can play this” or “This piece isn’t even that hard” Like have a bit of respect, Valentina is better than you ever will be.
When I visited Paris in '99, I went to Chopin's grave. Fresh flowers bedecked his stone and plot. Some visitors had left notes... What might I add? In the silence there, in my moment to leave something with the composer...I suddenly had my answer. Grabbing a scrap of paper, I wrote..."I promise you, some day, I will play it the way you meant it to be heard." Frederic, I'm not there yet....but I'm getting closer....
I've watched most of your performances on RUclips. Your hands glide so lightly and effortlessly - like watching a ballerina defy gravity. Chopin was my mother's favorite . She would have enjoyed watching your performances too :-)
Fantastic as always! I started working this up not long ago and I love your interpretation of it! Thanks for the little history. I've been trying to convince my classmates of the truth about this waltz and they think I'm full of bologna. Now I have a really good example from somebody with much better credentials than I have!
Wow! I had been wondering when you'd record this piece. A very fast rendition, but as smooth and effortless as always. The way you manage to keep such delicacy and control at these speeds is nothing short of miraculous.
Wow. At first it seemed impossible to play the waltz at such an incredible speed, but after I started to play it I noticed that the notes flows in the hands very well. Now I'm aiming to perfect it and carry out the beauty in this piece as Valentina had done.
I like how she really slows down the "waterfall" in the bridge starting on the C7 chord, I haven't heard that part so slow before and it was great in contrast to the lightning speed of the main section
For me, it's more like 20 minute waltz
xD
+Dylan Ngo Yep. I can get this done in about 2 mins. D:
hahahahha!! you are funny ~
For me it would be at least 45
Because of the key signature! Hahahaha
This is faster than my internet connection
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahhahahaa
Idiot this is a stolen comment
Hahahha😂✌
Astonishing blend of speed and articulacy. As fast as this is played, she still maintains the integrity of each note. Perfect clarity. I love it!!!
I play this piece since 1985, when I was 15. After 30 years, I still can´t play it with 1% of the talent, perfection and taste of this marvelous woman.
Who are you to call me a retarded?
a kind o genius if i trust you ^^if in 15 years you can't play it well well you have some problems^^ peace man
+Jean Jaurès LMFAO
+Gustavo Weckesser If you cannot play this piece after 30 years than you require serious medical help.
+Ako Tai If you cannot read and UNDERSTAND the simple text that I wrote then who needs medical help? Who said that I can't play it at all? I just compared both skills: Mine is not 1% as good as her's!!! Read well first!!!
I love how she added that extra C-sharp note in the end, it sounds so delicate
It was actually a D-flat.
I noticed that too. I liked it so much i started playing it that way me too :)
@@drtee51 its actually a "b double sharp" get your theory right...
@@AndreasNilsson96 oops! Sorry!
@@AndreasNilsson96 nah, it’s more like a f quadsharp to be exact
Her finger playing is very relaxing to look at it shows how relaxed she is.
i just got through practicing on my piano. now i watch this and realize how shitty my piano sounds
+slap chop Yup... Same here.
+Eric Che I'm learning piano something about 7 years and still can't play it.
lol
my father have a steinway upright which i use practicing. both are pretty nice :)
+slap chop Same to me :((((((
Thank you Chopin, Valentina and RUclips for making this world a better place.😘😘
Her pace with this piece is perfect
+James Sudimak I thought the beginning was a bit too fast for my liking
+Samson Zhang this Is no .1 u want no.2
I doubt Chopin intended any of his compositions to be played in allocated time periods. Amusing that some still think of this as a "can you play it in 60 seconds?" affair!
haha
Yes, set the video speed to 2x, there you have your 1 minute haha!
felpel 102 lol so true
it means minute as in small but people pronounce it wrong and now it is more common to hear minute as in 60 seconds
@@owencrawford5984 Oh, is that what it means? But it's still fun to see people try play this as fast as they could, kind of like a challenge.
Man, I wish RUclips were around 20 years ago! I played this piece but had no real idea how it should properly sound, plus I'm not a good enough pianist to figure it out. Beautifully played! Thank you so much!
This is where interpretations comes in. :)
don't let your limiting beliefs stop you now! there is no yesterday or tomorrow but you have today

One of the best performance of the Minute Waltz on RUclips! Tempo is perfect and the sound and dynamics are just extraordinary! I love it!

Her way of playing always makes me feel so calming & relaxing, even with pieces like the “Moonlight sonata 3rd movement”
"NOT QUITE MY TEMPO"

"START COUNTING!"
You know what happens after this :)
+lhevinne Josef I think she's too rushing in the beginning
HAHA whiplash is awesome
That's how no.1 is plaued

+Guadalupe Lozada No it's not stop telling everyone that.. If you want one on the right tempo go listen to Rubinstein
She plays this so emotively yet at a perfectly fast tempo. Bravo
Superb! I always enjoy the utter eloquence of your hand movements Valentina, shear poetry in motion:)
When I hear you play it’s like I’m in heaven, your playing is so smooth and light! Can’t wait to see you play live!
I enjoy your music. No pretending and strong fingers. Beautiful thanks
Cheers from South Africa
SHE TAKES HER TIME! Making the middle so beautiful, elegant, and tranquil. Obviously the beginning and end are played furiously fast!!!
Bravo! Excellent performance. I enjoyed this very much!
she literally glided off the keys... wonderful! so beautiful
i personally think she is one of the best pianists currently.
Piękno muzyki Fryderyka Chopina to fenomen graniczący z cudem. Chopin to najpiękniejsza spuścizna dla ludzkości. ♥️
Chopin was a genius.
By the way, I'm impressed with her technique. Sounds amazing!
I have not heard this piece played more delicately than this, truly a wonderful and inspiring performance
Glorious. The articulation is so stunning. What unbelievable skill.
This is one of my all time favorite pieces of shorter music. And I love your rendition! Bravo Valentina!
@ValentinaLisitsa Ahh that would be brilliant! I have not heard either of those recordings, I will go listen now! I also thinks its awesome how you reply to so many comments, we fans really appreciate it!
How absolutely wonderful and what a compliment to Chopin ! 😊
A melody by a Genius, executed by an angel whose hands are flying over the keys of the piano. I love Valentina.
This is by far my favorite rendition so far. Amazing!
The way she play, the timing is how i visualize in my head i love it
Excellent, performed beautifully.
Hey guys can we stop criticizing the concert pianist and enjoy the piece instead???
I have watched many videos, and this one was the best. I expected not much, and got an ear full of the best thing I have ever heard.
Thank you, Valentina, for the good you're doing with your videos. We cannot thank enough you and RUclips for them. God bless!
I took piano for 12 years and never got anywhere near this level. You madam, are excellent!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Chopin is so dreamy
The best chopin pianist for me

Its probably the piano bench squeaking

The little dog waltz! The grace notes in the middle imitate the bell it wore around its neck.
I much preferred this to any other version of the waltz I heard - amazing!
Valentina, yours is the only version of Chopin’s “minute waltz” I listen to. All other interpretations pale in comparison. ❤
I'm sorry for my very bad english
But I completely fall in love for Valentina Lisitsa when i listened that amazing masterpiece played in this way....
