You have the best 6 cylinder and the best 4 cylinder cars of their time. I’d take either one but am really partial to the E-Type having owned a 68 FHC and a 66 DHC back in my youth in the 1970’s. A friend of mine had a 69 Alpha Romeo spider which was fantastic also. Cheers 🥂

Thanks for a really interesting comparison video. I have a 1750 GTV and I love the looks and driving experience that it offers. It's interesting that price wise the E Type convertible is at a premium to the coupe price whereas the Alfa there doesn't appear to be such a premium for the convertible. I also have a 2000 S2 spider which drives equally well but would be half the price of the convertible E Type?

Nice video, though your hp figure for the Alfa is quite off..it's 130bhp.

I can't figure how a British buyer could have had any doubts between the two cars at the same price in 1968.
I don't mean to sound rude, but are you sure they were listed at the same price?
The 1750 is a beautiful car but, just to compare, its price was less than half that of an XKE 2+2 in Italy in 1968 (2,338,000 million lire against 5,600,000).
For the price of an XKE you could buy two 1750 GTVs and still have money for 6000 liters of petrol.
Surely the Alfa was charged of import taxes for UK, but not such amount of money.

Yes I am sure of those list prices in UK. The Alfa was seen as a real exotic Italian Sports car, and was almost double the price of a Ford Capri. That list price may well have included import taxes.

The jag being referred as the most beautiful car is an overused statement that Enzo Ferrari may have said. I disagree it’s odd in shape. Still a nice looking car but far from the the most beautiful. IMHO the Alfa is much more ascetically pleasing.

Of course the E-type best roadster there ever was (although AR -spider put up a good fight I believe, sic) HOWEVER definitely without the hood on, imho, peace and thanks for the upload

The Mk1 1750 is the best 105 coupe. (Save the 1600 GTA)
The S2 2+2 E is not the zenith of the E. It's looks are derisory.
The best E is the S1 DHC 3.8 or 4.2.

Extended 2+2 E-Types don't look all that good in my opinion. Alfa is lovely.
