  • This is a great series and a great group of guys!
Alright big update - sorry I haven't had anytime to post but I haven't slept much and worked on my car almost non-stop.
blew up the engine 4 weeks ago
So this engine has been super difficult. It's not a raised cam Block which I didn't know when I started collecting parts. The 4.5 stroke and aluminum rods were a nightmare. All my fuel pump stuff and pushrod clearance, all nightmares. Anyway I plugged along and got it together.
Tuesday - converter shows up. Got the tranny in, driveshaft. Make oil lines for new massive dry sump tank. Fix steps on rv. Worked late, dad ftw
Wednesday - my homie Steve brings me pushrods from Smith brothers. I'm not dogging em cause they bent over backwards to make em in time and didn't have to. But they wouldn't have been here in time. Steve to rescue, my dad and I spent almost all evening clearancing the heads. (Thanks std cam) got the valve train done and intake on
Thursday - finish up everything, cranking it to check timing and my starter begins to eat my teeth on the reactor flexplate. Get my spare. Fire it up, check timing and trans fluid. It's like 11pm. Finish loading the rv.
Friday - wake up, hit napa for a replacement lifetime warranty starter. Load the car, hit the road. Get to the track to unload. Fire the car, pukes oil put of the dry sump tank breather and then the new starter hangs up and stays on. Like the second crank. Now this is hardwired outside the kill so I can run the alt to it. Rip off the trunk lid by then the starter cranked until it stopped and almost started a fire, the starter like melted down. Im pretty defeated but I change the starter, get another spare. Replumb the tank and get it started. This thing would barely run and Nick Duda had to retune the car. The converter which was converted to a bolt together was so tight we really could make the thing spool (need a dump cause the converter is great, just blower cam does like it) Work on the car nonstop it's like 95 degrees. Go out for the first test pass at like 7pm. All the converter bolts backed out. Tore up the block and fuct all the threads in the converter. Took me about 1.5hrs to get new bolts to start straight in the converter. Went out and made a test pass at like 11pm.
