This hits so deep. Especially when u stuck in a depression for several years. It sounds so easy, ignoring all the stuff you can’t control, all the bad thoughts about the past that doesn’t matter and all the one’s about the future that will probably never happen! All he’s trying to say is that you should pick the good parts out of your life, everything else is a waste of your time.
But how do you keep yourself from worrying? That’s my whole problem. I tell myself that I’m not going to worry about something and I try to refrain from even thinking about it, like focusing on something else, but it’s always in the back of my mind.

I used to run a cocktail lounge in a hotel, and you’d be surprised as to how much people confide in you and seek advice. I’ve stopped people from killings themselves, but you’d never think a bartenders role would entail such interactions.

Fun fact: the bartender is actually a robot, that is why ppl would feel uncomfortable if he just stood there. Also, when pratt says he is his only costomer, he actually meant it, as he is the sole human awake in that spaceship. The rest are in cryopods waiting to be awaken more than 50 years in the future

Also this is reflective listening. It sounds dumb but often times makes the other person felt heard. Its often used I'm therapy, so I think within the universe of this movie the creators of the machine created him to have therapeutic capabilities. It would make sense, to have something like that in case the people on the ship needed it.
