I'm still a grocery delivery company driver pulling 53' reefer trailers on a union contract....semi-local...meaning I live at home. OTR trucking is definitely a lifestyle of desperation I'm sure.....the only reason I haven't thrown away my seniority at my current job.....not trying to ruin the rest of my life at 55 years old. I've been watching enough of the O/O stuff for a while now to realize that trying to negotiate with thieving brokers/hustlers would turn me away from trucking altogether. Why this middleman relationship in the industry is not regulated by the FMCSA is unimaginable. Anybody would have to be a fool to throw thousands of $$$ into a failed business model such as this. I keep thinking about buying a truck.....it's like deciding whether or not to jump out of an airplane without a parachute! 😥
Dave, you’re doing great. You’re getting better every day/every video. It seems that you understand people. Understanding the bullshit is a prerequisite. Understanding the lies is a prerequisite. Understanding the deceit is a prerequisite. Understanding the theft is a prerequisite. Understanding, understanding, understanding is a prerequisite! Learn to separate yourself from the masses! Learn to separate yourself from the idiots! And you are doing just that!! Values, standards, principles!!! Good job! Good job! Good job! Rock-n-roll big guy... rock-n-roll!!!
Flatbed Trucker I don’t want to speculate. I do know he laid out some “investor” money. Woody I understand may have gone through the carrier to buy the trucks. If that’s true, the carrier wins. They had revenue coming in while he was running the trucks. Now they have discounted trucks that somebody else paid for. I didn’t expect he would be the first to quit. That’s not how you grow a fleet.
Kevin Galloway this is not really speculation. It’s a good assessment of what’s going on with other peoples’ businesses. I’m not running anyone down. Im pointing out bad ideas. Everyone is an expert till they fail or walk away. Do you think threatening contractors with Judgments on RUclips is a good business model? Telling people a lease purchase is the way to go is bad advise. Stuff like that needs to be pointed out. It certainly isn’t an attempt to raise myself up. I do that on my own with my work ethic.
I watch all these "hurry-come-up" steering wheel holders for entertainment, and they all want to start a fleet because they see people like LoShoun Parks who feed them all the BS 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Michael J that was the impression I got back then. I’ve got personal experience that tells me what kind of options are available to finance a business venture. His gambling shtick speaks volumes towards that now. I feel bad about his poor timing into the restaurant business. I don’t feel bad about his horrible trucking decisions. He’s not a carrier. He has his trucks on with UPS that is known to pay poorly. He won’t pay W2 and suckers people into a 1099.
Excellent video. Very informative and objective. Truckers Coach is preaching doom and gloom and Jeffery Like is preaching Unicorns and Rainbows. Obviously revenue for O/Os is down in 2019 but folks can still make it. My guess is Woody got out of the business because of his future wife's nudging. She's extremely successful in the real estate business and she's taking Woody under her wing.
Haha. Loved the ending Dave. So, getting ahead by lying, cheating, and stealing. That’s called hustling. That’s how hustlers make money. That’s called being a scam artist. A swindler. A con artist. --- a car salesman.................
Believe me, I’ve had all kinds of offers, up to and including being a partner of a carrier. I’m happy where I’m at. 2 years and counting. Working on a game plan that may or may not include getting my authority next year.
@@starcardave339 - just remember, getting your own authority is easy, getting a broker to work with you on your first 90 days is the hardest. A broker agent might wanna work with you, but the company policy might not allow him/her to cut you a ratecon... Hell, Schneider wont cut you a ratecon unless your authority has been active for 6 months.
2300 x 12 x 7 = $193,200. That's an expensive truck, you paid a lot more money than me... way more. Mine's a 2019 new cascadia, DD15, DT12, TK apu, lane departure, adaptive cruz, etc... 176k. My trailer is 2017 wabash, bought used
Sandip Ssandip plus a $14,000 down payment. Got a rebate of $1200. So $169,300 plus interest. I’ve got a friend that just bought a Cascadia in the same ball park. $165,000ish plus interest.

@@starcardave339 true that

All you said about running your truck for $1.20/mile is true and I agree...
You know the economy is tight and we all have to hustle in order to make ends meet.

Waiting till next year to get my truck. Got a plan and gotta keep on track
Rick George Vlogs work that plan. The guys that chose a company based on what kind of trucks they can rent will fail while you succeed.
So you're suggesting that Loshawn is being funded by the streets?
