    I wish than Numbers would add a few things. One that I use all the time in the budget sheet I use in Excel is the Data Bars. Great for showing in cell the percentage that each expenditure is for the month and year. Since I have been using Numbers more in the last year or so I've built a better budget sheet in Numbers than the Excel one. Except that there are a few things that I wish I could do with Numbers. I have a small list of things I wish were added to the app.
    Data Bars, Slicers, put Filter back as a Function instead of a sidebar option, more category options in each field of the Pivot Table, Ability to lock Cells and/or Tables on a sheet.
    I do use Conditional Formatting in the Numbers and Excel budgets, but you showed a couple of things I didn't know and didn't think about. Thanks.

    Thanks for sharing your brain with us! ❤ There are a number (pun not intended) of things I can do in Excel that seem nearly impossible in Numbers. If you ever are bored (joke) consider going through things like parsing cell data, changing time formats, and data manipulation. For example we have a ROP (Routine Output Printer) that prints out outages and alarms, and needed to parse the output into a simpler spreadsheet format, and “speak” certain type of alarms, new alarms to the Mac’s speaker to draw attention to the alarm. Getting windows to do part of it was easy, until we got to the speaking specific text lines part. Also, Windows/Excel has a simple watch me feature to record a macro, is there anything on a Mac like that?

    Hi Gary is there any possibility to Sum numbers based on Cell colour, Example sum every number where cell colour is green( any colour condition).

    • @macmost
      @macmost  3 месяца назад

      So you mean where you manually set the color? No. That's just decoration. You can't get that color as a value. So come up with another strategy instead. Like a checkbox in a column next to it. Or a sum based on the values on another column (SUMIF).

    Is it possible to format a cell based on the condition of another cell? For example, in my cashbook, I enter all values as positive numbers. In another cell I indicate whether the value is a debit (dr) or credit (cr). I would like to highlight debits as red text and credits as green text. Is that doable in numbers?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  10 месяцев назад

      So that other cell displays "dr" or "cr" already? Just use conditional highlighting based on whether the value is dr or cr. No need to refer to another cell.

    Can you please make a video about how to divide iPhone for work and play?
    I just got iPhone 14 pro max 1TB and I want to split my 2TB iCloud to keep my work related stuff separate-I’m getting so much conflicting advice my head is spinning 😵‍💫

      There's really no way to do a hard split. What is your goal in trying to do this? Just to make things nice? Or is there some corporate requirement?

      @@macmost years an years of mess carried over from one phone to another… so much distraction. I was thinking to do iCloud family sharing on my account and sig-in as a second person to have the serious stuff separated from things that I need once in a blue moon and I could use airdrop for individual things if needed. Is that possible?

      @@LookNook2020 I suppose. Why not just use Focus modes though. You can switch to Work Focus and see only certain apps and then Home to see others.

    If there away of if I put in ID 12 in to A1. B1 to J1 will fill is user information, I have to keep a meditcal log book and B1 to J1 could be fill in when I enter and ID code in to A1, I can not work out a =?? To do do this, Belonging for a way to be able to do this i and i not be able to find the right on, I think I would need Sheet2 if the data field so sheet 1 will take the information from there and ID 1 in A1 will fill out B1 to J1 for me. Is there a way of doing this. Thank You

    Hi Gary, how can I convert a tick box to a value?
    I would like to use the blank as value 0, and a tick as the value of 1.
    Many thanks.

      Do you mean visually see a number instead of a checkbox. Change the cell format to a number instead of a checkbox and then use 0 and 1 instead of true or false.

    • @PGOLiveSTREAMS

      I need the check box to show as a tick, I would like to total the number of ticks at a footer box instead of manually counting

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Год назад

      @@PGOLiveSTREAMS Use COUNTIF for that. Checkboxes are true or false, so COUNTIF(B,true) would give you the total number of cells in column B that are checked.

      I think it was inserted 'automatically' when he clicked on the cell because it was a footer cell and not part of the 'data' cells.
