It made me smile so big to see your heartfelt reactions on the roller coaster; amazing simplicity and I'm jealous. My parents were born in Denmark (r.i.p. Far) but I have yet to enjoy a return visit since 1980. Thank you both.
@@henningbosrensen8345 I’m only going to Scania … because it used to be part of Denmark (I bet I just made some enemies with that statement). Danish descendant here 😁
So glad you have found the videos to be helpful! We enjoy sharing our experiences with fellow travel enthusiasts. We hope you have a fantastic time on your trip!
@@toddbonin6926 Don't worry the swedes are to drunk to care. By the way if you going to Denmark københavn then go to "Bakken" in Klampenborg. Ride some rollercoasters then take a walk in the forrest(Dyrhaven) with lots of deers ;) Only 20-25 min from Copenhagen central station
Greetings from a local 😊! The Hotdog stand, next to the Round Tower - "DØP" (Danske Økologiske Pølser), translates to "Danish organic sausages". Another one I´d recommend is "John Hotdog Deli" outside Central Station. He makes his own Hot sauces (even though they usually are not part of a Danish Hotdog 🤣). Most Hotdog stands here serve a decent dog!The red Hotdog is boiled (for kids and tourists 🤣) The brown on is roasted. The toppings are the same, but I recommend that your first Danish Hotdog should be the roasted one.., "med det hele" (fully loaded). Enjoy 👍
Have great fun in september! I was born in Copenhagen, and still live here :) If you go to Tivoli, make sure to try the roller coaster featured in this video. I think it's most Copenhageners's all time favourite. I have many good childhood memories from it, and my dad has too ! It was build in 1914, and is the oldest (still working) roller coaster in the world.
Dane here. Loved your video. You should definitely come back to see some more of Denmark. I think you would enjoy it. I would recommand visiting some islands (like Det Sydfynske øhav - South Funen sea of islands), writer Hans Christian Andersens museum or how about LEGOland (amusement park) or the supermodern LEGO House with amazing interactive features. The western coast of Jutland with its cliffs and wild weather, city of Aarhus (probably the coolest city in Denmark) and in the most northern part of Denmark go see the lighthouse that just has been removed to prevent it from crashing into the Ocean (Rubjerg Knude Fyr), the wandering sand-dessert of Råbjerg Mile and Grenen, the top of Denmark, where you can stand with your feet in the two oceans that meet.
7:30 Danish baker here.. just gotta correct you there.. Pretty sure that's a Rum snail she's got there. "onsdags snegl" just means Wednesday snail , they're usually made with a different kinda dough and with cinnamon and butter filling . sorry i got triggered LOL
Wow, we’re honored to have a Danish baker watch out video! Yes, that seemed to stir up quite a reaction 😂 our apologies, we got mixed up quite a bit with Danish words 😅 all of the pastries were fantastic though!!
I saw someone have misinformed You regarding the Danish pastry Wienerbrød!! The one You wrote "Onsdags Snegl" (Wednesday Snail) is actually not a ordinary Cinnamon roll but a Rum Roll (Romsnegl)!! You should be able to taste Rum extract in the glazing! Kind regards the Danish Viking
On top of the Round Tower, and its Observatory, with a Telescope (used once in a while during cloudless nights. Of course Cph. gives much too much light for any serious views!), is a "Caretakers Apartment", just below the platform! My former Firm sold a new Kitchen to this Apartment and used it in a Commercial, about how well adapted it could be.
Copenhagen is our Capitol yes, not the "Cleanest" Danish city by any means. I may be biased though, grew up on the countryside in the Northern Jutland. Some nights when it is clear, you can see Northern lights. So air and light pollution is near non existent in some places. Stunning Starry nights :)
So glad the video was helpful for you! The hot dogs were around $7 USD if I remember correctly. Copenhagen is definitely not the cheapest place 😅 but the hot dogs are so tasty!!
It was a “kanelsnegle” which is like a Danish cinnamon bun! Everything there was incredible, we went multiple times 🤭 the rollercoaster was so fun! We weren’t expecting all of those drops lol
I couldn't eat more than one pastry in a sitting. I can walk down to the baker every morning and get one, so maybe I'm a bit privileged, since it is part of the culture. Though it is rare that you eat one daily, it is for the special weekly special event. I can go months between eating pastry. It is just not part of a standard breakfast.
fun fact, the Round tower stands in the center of the danish kingdom or was the center of the danish kingdom, when sweden and norway was under danish crown, it was the center of the kingdom
As a Dane, I've never in my life tried a whole grain hotdog, and I probably never will. It's great that you got a proper hotdog, and not the "french" one, but still, whole grain? Bleh.
I stumbled over a video showing restored footage from Denmark in 1920. At 1 minute 9 seconds in, you can see people riding that exact same rollercoaster 103 years ago! ruclips.net/video/gclvLpQU7QE/видео.html
Gald that you had a great experience. But regarding the cleanliness it's not quite true. Lots of Copenhagen streets are full of trash, broken glass, chewing gum and cigaret butts and it has become worse the last 10 years. 😕 Vienna is probably the most tidy place I've seen in Europe. 👍
Ahhh, all of the Danish bakery terms confused us 😆 I'm sure we mixed that up pretty bad. Thanks for watching the video, we are really pleased to hear that you enjoyed it!
The 'hotdog' is eaten all over Denmark not just in Copenhagen. In Germany you can eat the hotdog with sauerkraut. The star fortress can also be found in the Netherlands like the museum town Bourtange.
You looked like you enjoyed your time. Please allow me to bore you with a little historical trivia. When you went to Kastellet, you mentioned the moat. This may be difficult to visualize but that moat extended all the way around the medieval part of Copenhagen up to the late 1850s. There are remnants of the moat even today, and you actually stood next to some of that without knowing it. The lake in Tivoli Garden is a very small remnant of the original moat around the medieval part of Copenhagen. The lake in Østre Anlæg next to the National Museum of Art is another remnant of this moat and the lake in Botanic Garden and the H.C. Ørsted Park are the last remnants of the moat on the Zeeland (Island) side. More of the original moat including remnants of some of the more than 20 original bastions can be found on the Amager Island side (the island across the bridge towards the airport). The original Tivoli Garden was only about half the size it has today. In the end where the rollercoaster is today and a large part in that end was part of the first Copenhagen Central Station from 1847 - 1864. The current Central Station is actually the third in Copenhagen. The moat around the medieval part of Copenhagen on the Zeeland side was finally completely filled in around 1880 and all the bastions were completely removed around the same time on the Zeeland side of Copenhagen. You may have noticed that there are not many extremely old buildings left in the medieval part of Copenhagen. This is due to the fact that the old part of Copenhagen partly burned down 3 times. The first big fire was in 1728, the next in 1795 and then the English Navy (Nelson) bombarded Copenhagen and set it ablaze in 1807 so there are only a handful buildings left that are older than 1728, Roundtower being one of them.
Wow, thank you so much for the info! We could definitely feel that we were in a very historic place, but you provided so much more context! We absolutely loved it, we just we had more time and more money to spend 😆 we hope to be able to return to Copenhagen again and dive deeper into this fascinating city!

DØP = Den Økologiske Pølsemand = The Organic Sausagesalesman 👍
