@KierstenandTylertravel careful, you might end up with a hipster guide(: And I mean that seriously, cause it seems a lot of those who might offer their services are a little disconnected. I don't live in Copenhagen either, but I've visited a lot and know there are far better places, closer to the origin. But of course, there has been evolution so "realness" and "authenticity" are fluent, some just doverge too much..

I thought the same thing. 😅
I don’t personally like most of the classics since remolade and pickles are things I don’t eat.
But I was kinda disappointed that they didn’t get a classic “ristet hotdog” with everything.
But I’d say the food looks good even though it’s more fancy than the classic.

If you want to taste traditional Danish food, you must have. Stegt flæsk med kartofler og persillesovs. flæskesteg med brunekartofler, rødkål og brun sovs. Or karbonade med kartofler og stuvede grønærter og gulerødder. that is Danish food.

Reg. the sausage stand. Eating ALL ingredients at the same time in a mouthful are exactly the way to eat it. We do not eat mustard or the pickles, mash or ketchup alone. It´s the combination and the quality sausage that are key. Btw. same as with Danish pastries. Few eat a Danish pastry on it´s own. Coffee goes along with it or tea if you are into that.

Bearnaise has been a danish basic since the 60s or 70s.
That first dish was so not normal pølsevogn food.
Citronfromage is an old-school danish dessert.
It is lemon, with geletin, eggs, sugar and creme.
    Easy to make 😊
The fried egg was not something i had seen before. Normally, it is just a slightly runny boild egg on curry herring.
Denmark did really well this year at the Olympics. Especially handball 😊
The mussels is so french 😅

Tyler has a whole grained rye bread with marinated herring - the history goes 1.500 years back in time to when a huge vulcanic erruption dimmed the sun light for years - rye was the only thing that could grow hence it does not require much sun light - that is why we started to make bread of rye - later on workers needed something to eat that was fast to make and where you could add a lot of extras - heerings was a very common food - and marinated herring with red onion and eggs on rye bread is a much liked dish - enjoy it with a 'snaps' a strong brandy ...

The Herbs/leaves on the dessert are edible. It looks a bit like a clover, but it's actually Wood Sorrel. They are used alot in Europe, it has a slightly acidic taste. So next time you see that herb, don't be discouraged. :). In general good restaurants in Denmark, even in rest of Europe, do not put stuff on what they serve, that cannot be eaten.
