Muchas gracias

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Really good point on the work-self esteem. So, are you saying that this "grip" that work does on the brain is because there is a connection to self esteem and, therefore, it is super important to do the work? Otherwise, the self esteem is under risk? To the point of sleeplessness nights

Thanks for the feedback! You might get lucky and be a "dashboard man" sitting in the meetings like a boss but this is usually not the reality. The reality is that you act more like a developer, who needs to build a dashboard which then will be taken by the manager to his manager and so on
Hi! Can you explain where you went wrong? How did you go about obtaining the missing piece? And what methods did you develop to ensure that it doesn’t happen again? Looking forward to your answer.
Hey. I can not give the details, but let's say there was a problem in one of our data pipelines. The pipelines could be pretty complex and it is far not obvious where things go wrong. But your brain keeps working on it even if you are resting. That how it works, for me at least. The missing piece got fixed once the code had been changed. In terms of methods to ensure it won't happen again, there should be better logging and better alert system in place, so things like those could be either prevented or highlighted asap
I love your content. The storytelling is 💯. I’m currently a data scientist for a local tech startup (like Uber) in the Philippines and you inspired me to make videos like this one. Would you mind to share how did you make this video from an idea to the post button? I wish I could make something like this too

Ughhh I have a remote developer who only likes to report once per week and sometime he would go even as far as saying some weeks meeting are not really necessary because there are no new updates, he is full time and lead for a team of two that will now become a team of 3 devs. When ask how are things are going or any kind of report we will just water generic things like, we are doing well we are working hard. If confronted and ask over and over for details he will avoid the question one way or an other. At first my assumption was that he was not putting the effort but with time I have notice that he doses, but there is still periods were its a bit uncertain. He stresses me out a lot. I have tried over and over to explain to him the importance of those updates/reports because there are other employees below them that depend on their deadlines. And that a hr or two per week to have a report is not a wast of time as he says it is. This is the main reason we are hiring an other developer but in house so it can help and also help us technically supervise this other remote dev. Soooo stressful
I understand your issue. Are you a manager of the department or so? I think it is important to communicate to the dev that you need those updated to be able to steer and lead properly. Without proper steering an organisation can not survive. And btw, why not implementing an Agile framework, like Scrum? it has Daily Standups and you can hear an update daily
Yeah, you could say that, I am multitasking as UX/UI Designer + Management and a bit of Sales. It's complicated. He's quite a skilled developer, which has given him a high ego. To make matters worse, he has a very delicate temperament. Since he's currently leading the development side of things, we don't have much leverage over him. That's why I'm already looking for someone of equal or better skill to ensure he doesn't feel irreplaceable. We've provided him with equity in the company YOY, and are paying him a top-notch salary for Mexico. Despite this, he still wanted more to work full-time with us, as if the equity didn't exist. I have tried multiple things to which he always likes to argue and politely declines or avoids. Things like weekly or even more daily meetings, using our company email, using slack, and with a lot of struggle he took the lead to open and publish task over Hack & Plan. He has just beed complicated overall and has no work experience on a full-time / office job so he seems quite disconnected of reality. I just feel that I need that new employee ASAP to gain leverage on him in the next few months.
@@carlospro1204 How many team members do you have for the project? If you have at least 5 team members or so, why not implementing a Scrum framework? This would solve the issue with the updates, since Scrum implies daily syncs and further regular meetings. Scrum is a standard practice in many good companies and good devs should recognise that. Especially those who lead teams. What are your thoughts?

I am just not totally sure of the structure and how many new employees will be ideal. :(
