My concern that my 580whp Bmw m4 is my daily, and I ive in NY, so we get rain sometimes. Some people say 555r is better for drag racing because of softer sidewalls and that 555r2's have stiffer sidewalls and has better in the rain. Can anyone advise?

Awesome numbers! I’ll be on the dyno here soon to see what it does on 93, but the nt555r2s are about 100 bucks cheaper and perform just as welling seems. They are less noisy also. Leaving off idle or right above it around 1000 rpm has been the best with everything completely off and ofcourse a good tire.

I just bought a 01' dodge viper. It came with these on the rears. They have approx 1k miles on them. Should I get rid of them if I'm just street driving? It's bone stock. Selection for these 18x13 rims isn't great.
It would run a 10.6 around 133ish made 540 hp without nitrous would have ram much better if it had a stall but the bigger cam with the stock stall made it a slug out of the hole without nitrous
The NT555's and the Toyo's actually use the exact same rubber compound just a different carcass. The Toyo's hook even better from a roll and from a dig there are both about the same only 1.7 - 1.8 60ft at best. They cant really touch M/T drag radials
Yeah I don’t expect these to hook amazing from a dig, especially a street, but these ar exist for the street to drive around in and get some roll action with!
How do you know they are the same rubber compound? They are made by two different tire manufacturers and that data is proprietary. Are you making assumptions? Otherwise, I'd like to see the scientific data if you have it.

I never tried the r888r’s but they were on my radar. From what I could tell these new r2 nittos did very well and were comparable to the r888r’s. They also did better in rain.
I replaced my R888R's with NT555R2's and I got a better 60' with the 555's and seems to hook really well if you give them a proper burn out before a launch. The r888r's were a great tire but a bit more of an all around performer, an excellent track tire. Plus they only lasted me 4K miles as a street tire.
