this is an incredibly helpful video! and that mixing neon color to brighten was such a great tip! thank u so much. and ur paintings are gorgeous. 😍😍🤎🤎👌👌
I tried your suggestion and wow. It worked! I was wondering why isn't my colours more vibrant, popping and your video did it for. It was like a huge relief. Today I finished a painting, same one i did before and I put them side by side, and one I did from what I learned from your video just did for me. I felt a lot of stress leave me and that this problem which has been doing me in for a while now has been solved. So thanks for your sharing your tips. It worked!
Your paintings are beautiful! I love the bright colors and often paint with them myself. One thing you forgot to mention. It’s important to know if your colors are warm or cool. For example, many think ultramarine blue is cool because it’s blue and blue is typically thought of as a cool color. However, if you mix it with a cool yellow like Golden’s primary yellow, your green will look muddy; almost like an olive green. So, if you want vibrant bright colors, mix cool with cool and warm with warm. If you want muted colors mix warm with cool. I had to learn this the hard way. I hope it helps those who are having trouble with getting vibrant colors.
Thanks so much! Yes that is such a good point. I'm actually in the process of making a video about colour temperature at the moment. I didn't think to include that in this video, but once I've uploaded the new one I'll make sure I add link to it so people can see. Thank you ❤️
I love the tips & tricks, some I would have never thought of ! If I may suggest, would you consider doing a video on painting the human eye ? I’m getting into these doll/human face Molds, where the eyes are left completely blank, not even a faint outline of the 3 parts of the eye, imprinted within the eye area that would help dramatically towards obtaining a realistic eye. It’s things like the 3 colour parts of the eye that would be most helpful, typical paint mixing for realistic eye colours and delicate line striation detail of the iris (?), how to paint eyes looking in different directions and possibly realistic eye lashes ? Thank you so much, as this video was a valuable video for sure ! Julie Canada
Hi Julie! So glad you liked the video 😊 Yes I can definitely do a video on this! I'll need to do a bit of practice first as I haven't painted a human eye in a while! (I've been focussing mainly on painting animals for the last few years). I love painting eyes though so I'll do some practising and create a video for you soon ❤️
Love the tips, question though, I know fluorescent paint isn't particularly lightfast. Does mixing or varnishing help with that or should that only be for stuff that's for fun or that will be photographed for alternate usage? I adore neon/fluorescents and would use them in everything if I could
In my experience if you use a good quality brand of paints, and avoid direct sunlight then they don’t seem to fade at all. I also always use varnish with UV protection which helps. I think mixing with the regular colours seems to help as well. The brightness may not last hundreds of years, but I have paintings that are years old that still look exactly the same as when I painted them. This is all my personal opinion though so I can’t say for sure! Hope this helps though ❤️
Thank you! Whereabouts are you? I’m in the UK so where I buy them from might not be helpful if you’re in another country. I’d recommend using a good quality brand of neon paints (I use liquitex) as they are more likely to last longer. Try Amazon or an online art shop 😊
Yes, the tip about using neon colors helped me a lot, too, as I never know what to do with them (in both acrylic and pastel mediums). I would like to watch your video on how to varnish acrylic paintings. I didn't find the link as you mentioned it. Thank you for sharing these tips with us. Liquitex Basics to me is not a high quality paint. I use that as a beginner. I usually use the less expensive paints (like Liquitex Basics) as my underpaintings and then use the better quality later on, and to finish.
Here’s the link for the varnish video if you still want to watch it: ruclips.net/video/oMDe39ZPo70/видео.html Yes that’s a great tip about using them for the underpainting, I often do that too. Although I think they are great affordable paints for people who are starting out 😊
Hmmm. You talk about good quality paints that won't break the bank and then go onto mention Liquitex and Golden, 2 of the most expensive on the market, at least here in Australia. Amsterdam or (Talens) make a great acrylic that's awesome and 1/2 the price. I guess it depends on the art you're making... I'm a mixed media artist making art for my own enjoyment so for me, inexpensive is the way to go.
I mainly use Liquitex basics which are way more affordable (I'm in the UK so it may be different here). Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried those brands but I'll definitely give them a go :)
Downvoted because of the music. Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover. The music alienates a lot of people. There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music. It's such a shame because it's an interesting video. If I, or someone else doesn't mention it, then video creators aren't aware of the problem and can't do something to help in future videos.
Using neon colours to intensify regular colours is genius. I’ll remember that one. Great video.Thank you.
So glad you liked it! I use that one all the time, especially with pink ❤️
Wow,I really needed this video
So glad it was helpful 😊❤️
This is definitely a "must have" piece of information for everyone's artistic journey!! Thank you!! Understanding the color wheel is so important.
So glad you liked it! Yes definitely, I’m always thinking about the colour wheel 😂😊
I was afraid all the tips would essentially be "spend more money" but I can easily use most of these tips with my bargain brand paints. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I tried to make sure most of the tips could be done without having to buy anything 😊
Fantastic information...👍🏻
Thanks for this info! 💐💐💐 I 🩷 the tip to add fluorescents to make colors more vivid!

@ Looking forward to the video. Thanks a bunch.
@ Your videos are very important to me. I work in acrylics but the only actual tutorials I can find are in oils. Thank you for filling this gap.
Wonderful video! Thank you!!❤❤
You're welcome! ❤️❤️
Great tips! Thanks much.
A wealth of good information Thank You just what I needed so useful 🙏💯
So glad it was useful! 😊
Thanks heaps.
Neon or fluorescent paints are not lightfast (it fades) rapidly, so keep that in mind and defeats your purpose of avoiding dullness.
I agree, I was going to mention this too !
Liquitex basic is also a student brand and not as light fast as the Golden professional or Liquitex professional. She doesn’t mention that either.
Neon pigments are not lightfast, so make sure to use a UV protectant varnish on your painting to keep the colors punchy!
Great video thank you 🤩
You’re welcome ❤️

I don’t use acrylic paint much, but next time I do, I’ve got some great tips! Thank you!
NovaColor has great pigmentation and rather good prices. No affiliation. ❤
Hi. Really enjoyed the video. Cannot find neon paints anywhere. Help please. 😊
Thank you! Whereabouts are you? I’m in the UK so where I buy them from might not be helpful if you’re in another country. I’d recommend using a good quality brand of neon paints (I use liquitex) as they are more likely to last longer. Try Amazon or an online art shop 😊

fluorescent pigments aren't lightfast though are they?
Nearly all neon paint pigments (and dyes) are not lightfast longterm. This is why so many colors are not bright/neon out of the tube.

Neons are not permanent. Acrylic is glue. Pigment is better than dye.
I’m using this video to figure out how to avoid making neons.

Be careful with fluorescent colors. They are not very lightfast and will fade quickly
Had to clic as acrylic is always to bright and too vibrant! Plastic wonder ugg...
