- Опубликовано: 14 янв 2025
- In this quiz, you have to name cities in North America, which creates a circle around each one on the map. The goal is to cover as much of the continent with these circles as you can. I was recommended to play this quiz and I thought it sounded interesting, so I hope you enjoy!

Hey thanks for watching! If you like geography content you've found the right channel - I'd appreciate it if you subscribed :)
Don't know how I wasn't subscribed. Sorry about that.😬😄 I guess it's because I watch them all, so your videos are always 'Recommended".🤷♂️
Really good video; but my obsessive nature was bothered by the gaps in Georgia, Missouri, Kansas, and New Mexico not being noticed.
There was one in southwest Texas too, he did cover one but there was another inside the state
@@atc_nth Also southeast Georgia on the coast
You managed to miss the gap in Oregon then, as there was one left around the Neatarts/Pacific City area of the coast!
@@TheCriminalViolin 😄😄 Lucky me, wish I had missed the others
@@TheCriminalViolinHe hadn’t completed Oregon until he went to Canada and typed Vancouver, which boarders Portland along the Columbia River
"Indiana, Pennsylvania" the US never fails to make me laugh with its city names
We’re extremely creative and original when it comes to naming our cities and towns lol
@@DoiInthanon1897 ye either use names of different states or take a European city and then put new before the name
Kansas City, not in Kansas 😂
@@eskildloen3771 There are two cities called Kansas City. There's Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Different municipalities, different city governments separated by the Kansas River.
@@loganleroy8622 that makes sence 😅
Fun video. A little different than the usual Geoguesser videos but I enjoyed it. Would love to see you try this with the other continents as well. Europe would be fun with smaller circles since a lot of Europe is so packed in.
I'm not sure if you typed Reno or not but I think it would have filled in most of that Nevada gap. And the place in Mexico that would have filled in the Texas gap is Ojinaga. It's a fairly large border town.
Yeah I was gonna say the same thing, Ojinaga is the last border town before the Big bend/ bolson de mapimi gap where Chihuahua and Coahuila are disconnected.
Did he do Elko, Nevada ?
100% it would have. Thinking "Susanville, California" before Reno or Sparks was... painfully strange to me haha
@@sammyb1661 Nope. But he somehow thought of Winnemucca over Elko, which really surprised me. I can't say I've ever met or heard of someone who even knew Winnemucca exists before this video, yet failed to understand how he knew of it, but not Elko lol. There's plenty who know of Elko. Less that do of Ely, and basic no one who knows Winnemucca. And given how small Winnemucca is, I figured Elko was the only town east of Sparks in Northern Nevada that could possibly just barely tickled the 10k mark. Though I doubt it is that size.
reno and elko would have filled up the entirety of northern nevada
Well done and thanks for playing!
Edit: fyi you don't need to cover the entire map in blue, just the areas with 10k cities. So you can have a dead zone as long as there aren't any 10k cities in it.
it's way more fun to cover the entire map though
I'm hooked on these maps, but I've been using the opposite tactic -- what's the most compact coverage, leaving the most uncovered space? Lots of "what circle will just catch Eureka" type thinking.
There's a fun 100K+ coverage map where you have to minimize the number of circles -- and each city is unique on that map so no free circles from Springfield, etc
Pahrump is 10k but it’s unincorporated, Elko should get most of the Nevada dead zone. Awesome content, excited for your 25k in Washington!
Awesome job! Two things: technically you don't need to cover all the land area, just all the valid cities. And also, you probably could have covered the rest of Nevada with Reno, and at least patched up some of the south Mexico coast with Acapulco.
Or Elko, it’s 20K
Him not doing Reno and Carson City made me so angry lol
he could have done tampico, acapulco and mazatlan/culiacan
and culiacan for sinaloa
@@romansabatini876 yoo my uncle lives there
My favorite Canadian cities are Red Beer, AB and Yellowhorse, NT!
Red Deer AB, Whitehorse, Yellowknife
@JesusFriedChrist Did you not watch the video?
This is how Russia picks nuke locations
You can cover most of the map just typing springfield, any founding fathers you know, and major European cities little towns were named after
You missed a small portion just north of Jacksonville
I'm pretty sure Elko NV is over 10k
Yeah damn it lmao how do I try all those other NV towns and not Elko
Watching from Great Bend, KS. Did not expect us to make the cut lol
Technically, Sydney's name is Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
i love these quizzes! next time try only the us on a harder difficulty, would gladly watch it :) kinda crazy that at the end of all that you still didnt complete all 10k cities in the us (as the other comments mentioned it was probably either elko or the tiny gap in north florida)
He also missed something in Georgia i believe
And stuff near Kansas City too
Dude got 5716 out of 5816. Well done!
the prince town you were thinking of in Alberta was Grande Prairie
"Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors"
Prepare to roll eyes...
Sudbury's name isn't technically Sudbury. It's *Greater* Sudbury.
That 17k place in Saskatchewan is Swift Current.
You can take out a big hunk of Manitoba with Thompson but nothing else can be done as there aren't many 10k places in Manitoba.
Could you do same with Europe?
As a Nova Scotian it’s hilarious seeing him get random tiny towns in western USA, but not get Yarmouth, Gander, and Corner Brook. Not sure why Sydney didn’t work tho.
Because it's now Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Threw me off at first as well when it didn't show.
Yes. Ofc he’s gonna know small USA cities instead of Canadian cities…as anyone, esp from USA 😂😂
I was caught so off-guard when you named my city at 17:38 lol i really did not expect you to get my city
Btw nice work you did much better than me
15:05 The other Happy Valley is in Oregon.
Would love to see the harder versions of this now that we know how the large circle version goes
"Hmm, this region is tough, no city above 10k"
-> every sane person: "let me carry on then"
-> Chicago Geographer: "let me try 5 obscure cities with less than 10k inhabitants that no one living more than 10 miles away has ever heared of"
Impressive video. One tip for you to learn north and south american cities is to look at their football teams. I was almost shouting at you for not naming mazatlan in sinaloa or morelia
There definitely was a handful of slivers you didn't see you missed, one in Georgia, one in Oregon, and there was a couple others in other states you missed. I also am surprised you thought of Winnemucca over Elko in north Nevada though. It seems no one even knows there's a place in the world with the name Winnemucca! But many seem to know of Elko.
The reason Halifax and Dartmouth weren't separate answers is because they are considered one city under Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM)
Oh man. Good job. You probably would have covered that small deadzone in montana with Swift Current or Moose Jaw. Both in Saskatchewan.
others:
"what's the capital of paris?"
"Europe"
To complete Québec (almost), you could have named some of these: Amos, Val-d'Or, Rouyn-Noranda, Dolbeau-Mistassini, Baie-Comeau, Sept-Iles, Rimouski, Matane. But good luck if you have to find a city of more than 10,000 people north of Amos, Dolbeau and Sept-Iles...
Yep, when in doubt just start naming teams in the Q, that gets half of your list
Darn french 😂
@@10thletter40 What's so funny?
@@Xerxes2005 all of the hyphen town names, don't worry about it
@@jasonglasser1621 Just knowledge of CHL teams gets you most of Canada
I love how you thought of Plattsburgh when thinking for cities in new york
“Springfield”
I feel like harve MT and Elko NV would have done it for you!
There was a gap in the NE Kansas City Suburbs
The way you pronounced Bangor was a crime. I never believed people were actually capable of butchering Bangor😭
Would love to see just the US with smaller circles
fun video. love your channel keep doing what you do
10:40
It is, but maybe the fact that Hilo is technically a census designated place rather than an official town/city (sort of like Hayesville and Four Corners in Salem OR) disqualifies it... maybe?
Edit: NVM.
I love screaming st george when dealing with SE utah and Elko in Nevada to the top of my lungs, good stuff though lol
Bro does know Nevada's city winnemucca
Very impressive, no way I'd even get close to this. In Canada though I saw some improvements. Fort St John BC, Grand Prairie AB, Fort McMurray AB, Lloydminster AB/SK, Val D'or or Rouyn-Noranda QC, Sept Iles QC, Corner Brook NF, Sidney and Yarmouth NS. all would have given you some more territory in the north a bit. As for western BC I think that may be a dead zone, not sure what to put there. Also don't know if Chibougamou QC is 10K or Thompson or Churchill MB.
Not me screaming Elko at the screen for Nevada
Just start with Springfield.
I did this when I was 8 without the internet^^ Great video!
I stayed in Bahia Kino for a few days in 2019. Thats one of the smallest towns ive spent time in. Pretty much just an Oxxo and a beachide taqueria were all that we could walk to haha
Bro could name every street 💀
You missed the Kansas City area. :(
Would be interesting if the diameter of the circle was proportional to the population of the city. Would really test your knowledge of the small cities. Of course, it might make places like west Texas impossible.
That quiz already exists on this website. I think it's called population coverage.
Another city in Alaska over 10k is College, a suburb of Fairbanks. It has 12k
You make it look too easy! Would it be possible to correctly guess the geographical locations of one's tattoos? Can be a cool video!
What when did you get the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex?
Huge Quiz
You were trying to do obscure cities in nevada when reno/Carson city would have probably worked fine. Or even Elko. Those are all more populated than the cities/towns you tried. And more well known.
Great stuff as always!
4:19 you have actually missed 2 small parts of Georgia up there
9:32 I was screaming at the screen: Elko! Reno! Ahhhh!
lol as someone who goes to school in Plattsburgh I was surprised you knew it great video!!!!
For some reason it makes me proud to live in one of the three states with a dead zone
"Better Call" Sault St. Marie
RIP New Hampshire. Darn Boston covers us up with both it's "local" economy AND it's geoguesser radius.
Very impressive, and Fun! Some help in northern Canada, from West to East, Fort St John BC, Fort McMurray Alberta, Prince Albert Saskatchewan, and Thompson Manitoba.
I'm sure there's a few other Forts and Princes up there too =D
I wish Churchill Manitoba was 10k but I'm pretty sure it's not even close.
also dawson creek, grande prairie
As a manitoban, I was really hoping you would get Thompson
The dead zone in Nevada is remarkable.
14:06 It gave you Dartmouth in the US
the 22k in mexico that would have gotten texas is Ojinaga :)
When in doubt, the most common city names in the US: Washington, Springfield, Franklin, Greenville, Bristol, Clinton, Fairview, Salem
The city right next to Fallon that it showed as the pin was Fernley. Also, I did this quiz and covered all the united states. Also, there was a 0.1 mile sliver that was left in Georgia that would've been covered with atlanta.
Indiana, Pennsylvania 😅
The city you got in east Cuba was "Moa"
Elko in nevada woulda helped
More of this game overseas would be great. 😊
20:18 You forgot Bermuda and Greenland
Dartmouth is now part of Halifax.
fernley nevada was in the deadzone my brother lived there when he was in the navy over 19,000 people
Did you not even try Ottawa?
Would Havre Montana cover the dead zone? I think it may be just under 10k though. I know that Glassgow MT is east of there and is the most remote city in the US. I think that population is around 3k. I took the train through there once. Nothing going on for miles and miles.
Reno and Elko would finish Nevada
Found a missed city in 500k-750k. This is Culiacan opposite the tip of the California Peninsula across the Gulf of California.
Reno Nevada
Did you remember reno and sparks nv
I didn't hear you say Calgary, Alberta. Maybe Olancha, Honduras for the east part?
1. never thought i would hear so many nevadan towns pronounced wrong in my life
2. reno and elko would have covered most of northern nevada.. carson city would have helped too
source: from vegas
Can you timestamp the US/Canada/Mexico sections?
In Baja, Loreto might have done it
For sudbury in ontario they only accept it if you type Greater sudbury
You missed Key West.
Do US at the next hardest level.
how on earth can you know so many tiny towns
Genuinely curious to see how much you get by just typing Springfield as your first guess (but not curious enough to pay for HugeQuiz.)
Reno: *crying*
Bro sounds like Joe from Family Guy
Fun video but you missed the Kansas City metro!
The second largest ''city'' in Greenland is Sisimiut with about 5k
8:17 Le Harve or Harve would work I think?
9:55 Elko!
Havre mt
I successfully completed the US! But... my Mexico and Canada were dreadful.
Wasilla Alaska is just under 10k population 😮
Elko has left the chat
