      The episode " The Empath", Spock shows even more compassion for McCoy. He certainly showed himself to be half human. The 3 characters definitely had a strong bond in spite of some bickering at times between Spock & Bones.

      See "The Empath", and you will again see Mr.Spock's gentle concern for the good Doctor. McCoy is near death, saying, "Hey, Spock you've got a good bedside manner.", while Spock holds McCoy's head, as Dr. McCoy coughs.

    I think Spock putting his hand on McCoy's shoulder & the expression on his face is his way of saying he's here for him, that he doesn't have to go through it alone, that he cares & it kinda takes McCoy by surprise because of their normally duelling personalities. It's a lovely moment.

  • @f.f.fabiana
    @f.f.fabiana 6 лет назад +450

    I don't think McCoy is really troubled about Jim telling Spock he was sick. I think the biggest problem is having now his 2 friends worrying about him, since that's his function. Remember the beginning of this episode, when Bones yells at Chapel for calling Kirk?

      @@hamhockbeans very true, look at T'pol on Enterprise. Before she had the space STD from her mind meld and drug abuse (thats not a joke, its literally what it was), T'pol often had emotional moments. Either looking like she was about to cry while pouting, the occassional smirk or half smile, and i think i remember one episode where she almost showed signs of anger to which Archer said "If i didnt know any better, id think that was a human reaction." To which T'pol replied with a 180 turn and marched out.

    In many past episodes, we all see the good Doctor there throw in a few digs at Spock, and Spock, on the other hand uses his cool logicial wisdom and intellect to reason and at times put the good Doctor in his place, and both go at it in a somewhat hysterical way. However, both deeply admire and respect each other for their scientific knowledge and skills they both possess, and do have a deep concern for each other's safty and well being. Real true friends, in a very different way.

    Spock almost looked like he wanted to cry and later on after his rebirth regardless of what he says you can tell he is embracing his human side since his talk with his mother in the beginning of Star Trek 4. Since then he has showed nothing but emotion. Especially in The Undiscovered Country. What he felt for the Klingons and how he involved Kirk without consulting him was pure emotion.

    Having a Vulcan touch is a special thing . we are touch telepaths you get so much from that. Also Vulcan culture is quiet reserved in the physical touch it Is something really only reserved for family and mates but even only in private time. To espress those aspects in public is quite rare. Also a sign of the Conflicted nature of Spocks balancing between his human heritage and Vulcan discipline.

      Actually, it seemed that Spock had found a balance between the different aspects of his personality. In the third season, his character is a lot more subtle and Zen-like. He has accepted his human side while integrating it with his Vulcan discipline, as per the philosophy of IDIC.

    Most fans see a fanwar, others a love triangle and some a threesome.

      Those most fans don't know what family means. They think a mother breast feeding is kinky sex. Spock, Bones Kirk was brothers.

      they are true friends, almost brothers. It pisses me off when I read that most fans see them as gay, or a polyamorous threesome. sometimes I want to read some fanfic, but I only find Spirk. Pitiable.

    God, I miss when Star Trek was good. It stopped being really consistently good at least in my opinion around the time of Deep Space 9. After that era the franchise just kinda spiraled into this state of inconsistently terrible & barely decent quality. That's just my opinion tho & I won't think differently of anyone for disagreeing so long as it's not in an ill mannered sorta way or the trash talk is decent, but if anyone comes at me with trash talk for the love of all that is decent please don't bore me to death with uninspired insults. Put some backbone & creativity into it. Lol Also please avoid crossing certain lines. Humerous quips about how my mother's a Klingon are 1 thing but I don't think I need to explain what lines are unacceptable to cross if anyone responds to my comment. Pretty sure we're all intelligent enough to grasp the implications.

      Seriously, I stopped watching Deep Space Nine. In fact, I liked Sisko's Space Station 9 better than Picard's Enterprise. From then on only in the 2009 reboot, but while I loved the Pine/Urban/Quinto trio, the way it was done left something to be desired, and the way they promoted the character of Uhura, as practically ( heresy ) replacing Bones ( heresy , heresy) did not help at all.

      @@tomf3150 I can make pretty spot-on guesses of the spelling of multisyllable words myself. I agree with your one-word assessment. Education is your friend.
