Very interesting stuff. I've been researching how to recreate the iconic Linn LM1 drum loop that was used on Mama and have learned that they routed the Linn via an AMS reverb before sending it thru a Yamaha guitar amplifier on the edge of distortion. Maybe a topic worth exploring ? ;)
Best RUclips Tutorial I've seen in a while! How did you get the white noise short sample to be so short? Mine has a really long tail in addictive drums 2 that muddies the mix - Did you put a gate on the white noise sample?
Thanks so much! Yes, there is a built in Volume Envelope in Addictive Drums. It's in the top right corner if you click to edit the sound. I had the settings as Attack: 0.0ms Decay: 5.0ms Sus Lev: 0.0db Sus Time 53.2ms Release: 109ms. Hope that helps!
it's good: i have the sound with Garage band with an easier way it's so simple i have the sound in 5 seconds, after that it's just time to choose which snare drum to use :) ! the gated reverb was amazing live in 1990 in the rehearsal and in the live cd but in 1994 you have a better sound with maximum gated reverb for the drum solo in the beginning of the concert and in 1992 with fading lights too with Genesis trying to recreate Phil Collins' sound is good but the legend must keep his secrets forever :)
I'm doing the Song right now as a COVER but have gone through all my Logic Pro X Drum Kits, Other Drum VST's and my ROLAND FANTOM -7 to capture this ICONIC "DRUM FILL" ( I do own both ...lol UAD AMS DMX16 plus this other Company that came out with a BETTER version yet sounds the same as the Original AMS DMX16 from Wave Alchemy "GLOW" for those you what that sound don't waste your money on the UAD ( which is GOOD) but this for LESS offerers SO much more for less. Againg, Use a GAte after the "AMS Non Linear 2" to clamp down on those VB TAILS. :)
Thank you! Here is a download link but it is only 3 bars long :) I didn't sequence the entire song drive.google.com/file/d/1Cd76-WwOKFXFqF46PKrPwIDbXf18Wq8T/view?usp=sharing
The DAW is Logic Pro X, the drum plugin is called Addictive Drums by XLN audio, the Reverb is called Altiverb, the distortion is called the Decapitator by Sound Toys, and I think the rest are Universal Audio Plugins
thank you very much for help!
Great video. I'm new to the audio community and this video was really clearly explained. You've got a brand new fan!

I want to see how you will make this sound with live drums when every mic receive sound from the next drum
Do you have available one shot samples of this? So that it can be loaded to eletronic drums or sample pads?

good day, do you sell this drum sound as one shot sample? I'm interested. I want to try it on my e drums

Thx bro
Welcome!
Can tell me how to make the drums sound metallic or industrial? you know like steel pipes slamming together, mine sounds so weak.
i did some special covers to sound like him as a drummer too
Nice work :) Is the midi available to download anywhere?

What is the software program you’re using?
The DAW is Logic Pro X, the drum plugin is called Addictive Drums by XLN audio, the Reverb is called Altiverb, the distortion is called the Decapitator by Sound Toys, and I think the rest are Universal Audio Plugins
What reverb they originally used?
Originally the sound. came from inside the live room, so no external reverb unit just the sound of the room through very compressed microphones 🤯
Of course you'd use actual drums. This doesn't sound like it at all.
Man. You missed one of the most important things. Where's the slap delay man?
...it's not slap delay it's the room, which in this case is recreated by the AMS RMX16, specifically designed to emulate the room
Who the fuck would want to sound like Phil Collins?
ruclips.net/video/Bxz6jShW-3E/видео.html Lots of people :) ... i did my video before Vox ...it's ubiquitous
