Yes!! Exactly, I spent so much of my teenhood on this game, but nowadays it just doesn’t feel the same, especially since I’ve overplayed it for so many years on so many different accounts.
It's been forever! I remember just running to Tir was a quest in itself wow brings back so many memories

you know i have to say... with blue protocol being cancelled i needed something to look forward to. I havent even heard of this game until just recently and this might be what i decide to play. It Saddens me that this game has been out since 2004!!! idk how this one slipped under my radar but it feels good to look forward to something again. Awesome Updates on the new unreal engine.
Some of these changes have me in a chokehold!!! I love them! so cute and the animations are getting cuter. the dyes revamp is always welcome too.
I am not familiar with this game but it looks like a pretty energetic mmo thats getting a new graphics overhaul.
I play ff 14 & I think thats why this game appeared in my recommendation list because I have never looked up mabinogi & i get this video after playing final fantasy 14.
If you play this game, I hope you have fun, i like when games overhaul their graphics.

I love this game very much so seeing its getting a big graphics update it looks so amazing and the game definitally deserves an update, it is still shocking but very very exciting to see mabi is still very much alive still. i'll still forever play this game its very fun to enjoy

This engine update I hope fixed stability I downright rage quit for the day in g24 over the healing minigame because my character turned around last second due to the buggy nature of the current game. Like that minigame has no room for errors you waste even a second you fail it's kinda rough.
It will be an entirely new engine with no connection to the current one, and since it's a modern engine I imagine it will probably function better. Also I don't remember the minigame, but when it comes to healing disabling Nagel's algorithm can help a lot.
Do you think our character will get transfer to the new engine ? Or would they most likely start everything again ?

There's a good chance they'll have to start over with older generations as different seasons for content update as they can easily revamp older stuff with better model, as they do not need to redesign them again (basically more polygon, better shapes).
For instance for the Red Spider in the dungeon as boss and as smaller creatures, they only need ONE model to use for the boss, and just shrink it for the smaller creature.
This way when they reduce the size of the creature the smaller details you wouldn't notice will disappear since it's too small to be visible. But 'hair/fur' textures on spiders would kinda hurt performance as players are used to playing on older laptops and such for the game.
I guess in a way, they could keep the old graphics for 'very low' end graphics users, but keep the game engine which is more optimized for the client in general. This way you can get 'classic' looks if your PC can't handle the game, and still able to handle large quantities of entities like players in a crowded Dunby.
Was hoping skin and hair might not clip through clothes x.x. Although if physics is placed in hair, I wonder how that would affect all the people who bought hair that came with a light breeze animation, I feel like people bought them because they moved unlike normal hair styles.
Regardless of my not so positive thoughts, it does still look amazing, didn't think they'd scratch down to all the details to get the rain drops right, that's alot of work.
In one of the early preview WIPs they said they were specifically addressing hair clipping through clothes, and that all hair styles will have physics. The animated wigs Mabinogi has now do not have true physics, just animations, but I imagine they'll just be normal wigs in Unreal 5.
I wonder if they'll make it controller compatible, the U.I is giving me those vibes. If it's not, no big deal.
A really long time ago, back around 2010, they were going to make an Xbox version of Mabinogi, but it never came to pass.

Have you played mabi? It's not possible to put it onto a controller without severely dumbing down the play to genshin impact levels. MMOs are on computers mainly because they rely on 1-9 and function keys. No controller can do anything even close to that. Plus all the shortcut keys for various pages like skills, inventory, pets, etc. I get the sentiment but there's a huge reason mmos never blew up on console and any that do honestly have very limited combat choices. Whole theme of mabi is being multiple classes, and mixing tons of abilities so it would kinda kill the main draw of the unique combat system. If you are interested you can force any game to use controller but it's just not gonna be a good experience with how little access to skills you'd have.

No timeline yet, but from the progress they've made it seems like it's going pretty fast!

No news on that yet, if I had to guess it seems like they shifted focus to Unreal Engine on PC first!
I have very mixed feelings about trying to get back into this game. It was my entire recreational and social life back in the day. But then most of my friends' schedules became desyched from mine, the story and setting took turns I didn't particular care for -- and I was never a power gamer. My relatively high standing in the game (and if you're a very longtime player you'd probably recognize my character name, not least because I was once a volunteer moderator in the official forums) was due solely to persistence over years of play, not rapid leveling.
I really want what I used to get out of it. But I also don't want disappointment.
what will this do to system trqs to play? Many of us play on older computers.
Unreal Engine games usually tend to have a lot of graphic settings you can tweak. I'm assuming this will still run on older PCs just on either low or medium settings
this will likely increase system requirements as its a a much more modern engine, I imagine they will still try and make the game as light as they can but they want it to still look marketable by todays standards
They will wanna stay low end tho. Id expect you wouldn't need more than a laptop tier 2070. @lastingluminary6573
I know I had to quit one of my favourite Korean games due to an unreal 5 update, which is kinda sad when there are people who cannot afford an expensive pc. I guess we'll see how it runs when it comes out.
2070 is low end would you think that's a realistic expectation for requirement?

This was somewhere in Korea! Mabinogi recently had something like this in America and I actually went and managed to record alot of it! So keep an eye out for it within the next few days! 🙂
I'm less interested in the visual overhauls and more interested in what they're going to do with gameplay. I wont revisit the game for very long if the game is just "AFK events but now dunbarton runs at 60fps".
I know there are some planned gameplay changes, they just haven't gave us anything concrete in terms of talking about it outside photos. It appears commerce is getting an overhaul + adding a jumping mechanic from what I've seen (just from photos they've shown and mentioned in passing)
This game graphics just like Switch ain't need RTX card's to run it.
most likely will make it so it cannot run on my Intel HD 670. Yes you can run mabi on integrated graphics it requires that little GPU processing though RTX features will skyrocket the GPU requirements to need like an nvidia 20 series or later or AMD RX6000 or later and might not run on Intel GPUs even their GPU cards. Just due to how the processing math works.
Yeah. You could run this with NVidia.

I didnt know it was a 20 year old game, my bad. I understand being excited for this graphics update because I play final fantasy 14 & they are updating the graphics this wedsnesday to thursday.
Game originally came out in korea in 2003, then in the US in 2008. It's my favorite MMORPG even though I preferred how it played in the early days. I wish they'd make a server for people like us and also not make us restart lol.

@@sammicopor Mabinogi is a solid game even now in its current state. Plus it has 20 years worth of content, and easily more fashion options than any game by a significant amount. I mean items, per slot, are literally in the thousands, every single one with a unique graphic.
Final Fantasy's update is looking nice, but I am finding it underwhelming since they're basically updating it to like 2014 standards. I guess they were not wanting to do anything too drastic, still good though.
The update is not that drastic but it is a nice touch. But you can't compare a stylized game to PBR render pipeline game which is FFXIV. Also Mabinogi genuinely has better fashion options then the glamour in FFXIV. Also does not have a dye crisis with glamour either.
@@sammicopor hopefully the update has ray tracing, the game already had pretty good lighting, ray tracing will make it better
