@Astro Btw if you also have your taunt up even if youre behind the target when they flash blue you can Taunt to turn them towards you then hit the counter and it will stagger them. Just a cool trick if you didnt know about it.

bro I have a question I don't know if you know or can help me, is it about the stagger, does the number of hits that a skill gives have anything to do with it? or the game assumes as a fixed contribution for each ability considering only the stagger level of this and regardless of the hits? for example 2 skills with high stagger, but one is 1 hit and the other is multiple hits (+10), does one give more stagger than the other or in theory do they give the same?
Is there any chance you can make a updated guide to counters? I watched this, but it's so old and as a Reflux Sorc, i honestly still cannot justify myself standing in front of a boss during this phase of the game. There are so many people that just CANNOT stand in front of a boss at all times, or else they get absolutely wrecked because they are "waiting for the target to turn blue". Does this make any sense? I really REALLY hope it does, i just want to be able to help my party out, but as a Sorc it's just not going to happen. Or maybe this is by design? I don't know if at this point in the game, a Sorc is supposed to do something incredibly important as stunning a boss, they all have incredibly quick timers in which you can counter them, and Sorcs only have one ability... Squall. And it has a cast time! Can you help any on this?
What about those symbols above guardian bosses? Those eyes that change colour ( 2:39 ), and the broken shield things. Is there a guide to that, too? Because i see them but have no clue what theyre supposed to tell me.
I have questions about stagger. Does the long charge or multi hit stagger skills kinda worse than one hit skill if they have the same stagger level? And if for example the bursting cannon has the highest stagger but considering casting time and animation, is applying 3 quick mid-high stagger skills better or not?
So although they stagger tag might say " high" or "medium" high will still do the most stagger damage over medium . So the charge abilities are actually wont be prioritized over quick stagger abilities . Theres actually a spreadsheet i found the other day about how much numerical stagger damage an ability does. If i find it ill send it your way :)
@@AstroSayn thanks man, appreciate it. My Scrapper skill 'Continuous Push' said it has high stagger but take 2 years to finish all the hits. That's why i'm curious are the multi-hit/long cast skills worth it for the stagger check.
Why do people say that most of gunlancer skills are weak point level 1? I’m a blue gunlancer and the only skill that has weak point for me is DAF or Surge Cannon if I choose to use that instead. I have a lot of staggers though
Thanks for the question! What ive found is that the closer you stand to the boss the faster you have to land your counter. Obviously, gunlancer is a melee class but my suggestion is that you try to stand a tiny bit aways from the boss if you the ability has some range ( guardians thunderbolt, shield bash, leap ect.). This will give you some extra time to come out of your ability to land the counter. Additionally bosses have certain tells for when they are going to do a counterable ability, chromanium will start to stand up necrasena will start to wind backwards. It will take some time to get used to it but im sure you will be a counter landing machine soon!
You can cancel out of your skill animation with your backhop then go into counter. As blue gunlancer, I will always spec into Dash Upper Fire for counter and never use Bash. Bash's range is too short to be reliable in many situations. If the boss is facing you and turns blue, try developing a reflex where you do "spacebar" + "dash upper fire". It feels really good to use and is fairly reliable. As a side bonus, dash upper fire also has weak point. Blue gunlancer will likely only have dash upper fire and surge cannon as weak point options on their skills, unlike red gunlancer who has weakpoint on nearly everything.
@@eksentrysyti you don't use the bash for the counter. You can if you want to but the main reason you want bash in your damage rotation because it reduces defense for 12% for 10 seconds and increases your attack power for 25% for 5 seconds of you use the right tripods. Not taking bash and using it as your first attack you're doing less damage overall.
Actually all skills have stagger damage even if it doesn't say it does. Normal left/right clicks dont. You can test this in trixions training grounds against the boss monsters. Tripods that change the duration/ functions of a skill can change the stagger amount. Bards soundholic lvl 10 damage tripod almost doubles the stagger amount + its faster and you wouldn't even know unless you tested.
Thats actually such good information. I went into trixxion but never bothered trying skills that aren't listed as stagger. Makes life waaay easier when the stagger bar is like 1% and and only have one other skills left. Thanks for the clarification this is really good to know
honestly counter mechanic is crap. Most of the characters needs to do back attacks in order to do dmg so they wont stand in front of the boss cuz its waste of time when you can do dmg. Counter should work from all direction.

You can also use whirlwind granade witch does high stagger damage , if all party members have it you can stagger check the boss very fast!
