  • In this video, Louis du Mont (@ldm) shows how to create a simple rig for a hard-surface model, in this case a robot. We’ll look at how to use armatures, how to automate animation, and how to create a waveform display for a mouth.

    I'm terrified of rigging and I struggle with hard surface models, but this is looking really straightforward and useful. Thank you!

    Thanks a lot! I was struggling with hundreds of annoying repetitive steps while animating a window blind with 80 parts. Never heard about a driver before, that's gonna come in so handy!

    Exactly what I was looking for a few months ago as an avatar for vtubing the opinions of an AI. Especially the ease of not needing to animate the mouth manually. Very aesthetically pleasing dude!

    Very precise with a lot of cool tricks ( using a sound file as an input value in the shader is terrific).
    What I also appreciate is that it is always easy to follow even for non native english speakers.
    Thanks for all your free tutorials and your affordable and complete courses
    I've been using blender non consistently for years. I mean as a Linux enthusiast I made my first tries when Blender became open source. After that I made several attemps to use it but the interface was so weird.
    There are 2 things that made me in a real (sort of) Blender user : the release of the 2.8 version and the Launch Pad course

    Hello, I bought a course Robotic Planet
    and I am not fluent in English. Can you put translation or dubbing in Arabic? I looked for several sites where I could dub course videos, but the price was too high. Every 20 minutes dubbed costs $45, and the course is 11 hours long, so this is very expensive, can you helpme? | My language is Arabic

      Unfortunately we can't provide every language dubbing. We do however offer an option of downloading the subtitles in English that can be then translated with google translate or other services.

    So I was going to buy the Robotic Planet course, and I see there's a deal for buying it with the launch pad one. That one came out with Blender 2.8 a few years ago - is it something that is still viable today? Has it been updated where needed (if at all)? Either way, I've loved the content of yours that I've seen so far and I'm definitely looking forward to making some robots!

      Hi, not sure if this is what you meant, but it should be Y, then you change pivot point and then S to scale.

    Add the mecha snail and giraffe sections, right now its a $7.99 course masquerading as a $59 course

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  7 месяцев назад

      Sorry to hear you feel that way, if you are still within the 30 day purchase you can get a refund if you are not happy with the course.
      We are working on the free update, it does take time though. In the meantime there is 10+ hours of content, where you learn; concepting robots, boolean modeling, hard surface modeling, materials, textures, rigging, a bit of geo nodes, animation, rendering and more.

      You misunderstand, I haven't bought it because the content currently offered isn't worth the monetary value you state, but RIP, oh well sorry for your loss.@@cgboost

    Can anyone help me rig a monorail? It has two trolley hinged to the end of both side of a block and it runs on a racetrack shape track (a straight line then half circle line stright line then half circle) loop

    "To Add A New Bone!" -🤖

  • @shadowwatcher5042

    When it comes to restricting the movement of bones, is it better to use constraints modifiers or lock the rotations in the transform panel? I dont know many of the fancy controls when it comes to animating the rigs so I restrict bone movement to make things easier for me. What I mean is, when I move the head of the model and I want to rotate the eyebrows, I don't want them to be rotated into the head. So I restrict their movement so there can only be one way for them to rotate when I hit "R" to rotate them. I also limited the movement of the head so the pistons don't fall out or clip through when moving it downwards.
    I want to know if there is a preferred way for limiting/restricting bone movement. Like is one better than the other or is there a way that is more "professional" for when you work with others?

    • @cgboost
      @cgboost  7 месяцев назад

      Locking transforms via the transform panel is a great way to quickly limit certain channels. Constraints have a few additional options like co-ordinate space, influence slider, and library override friendly that might make them more useful for more advanced rigs. I also prefer to use constrains as I often layer multiple constraints and it's nice to see them all in one place. - Louis
