From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure “Black Adam.” The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”).
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods-and imprisoned just as quickly-Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (“City on a Hill,” “One Night in Miami”) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (“Sex/Life,” “Rush Hour 3”) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (“Murder on the Orient Express,” “The Mummy”) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (“Voyagers,” “Trinkets”) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (“A Million Little Things”) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the “Mamma Mia!” and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

The critics got it wrong!! This movie had much deeper meaning and heroes we are not usually shown. Much better than expected.
Black Adam has the same origin of gladiator. But the film only takes itself seriously near the end. Could’ve been edited differently to be more impactful on first watch. But it is still there. A sequel with Cavil would be great if Nolan and Snyder return. Superman would say something like the soldiers were just following orders to explore the issue of super beings choosing to unalive humans.
It’s the question of how much force is necessary which should’ve been explored from a more human perspective in Batman v Superman. But now can be explored from a god-like perspective. Perhaps Wonder Woman would be the ideological balance of the two perspectives (Superman v Black Adam).

The Rock has been attached to this character since 2007 where he wanted fans to vote whether he should play Black Adam or Shazam. Then in 2014 he was announced as Black Adam and have been holding this character when the project was passed to many different directors and writers. It really shows how passionate he is in the role and so far he looks absolutely good in the role

Now we really need a solo Dr Fate movie like Man of Steel. He's legit one of the coolest and most powerful DC comic hero. Loved him in the Justice League Unlimited show on Cartoon Network so hopefully this live action version of him also makes me fall in love with him in this movie at least.

Nah. Dr.Fate is never alone and to make a solo film would ruin lots of potential, that’s why Avengers Infinity War and Endgame were better than Captain America: Winter Soldier etc.
Dr Fate is not really the sort of character you can build a movie around. Not unless you go back to square one and start with him becoming Fate. He works far better as the guide along the way for some other character who is on their Hero's Journey.
The problem I have with the modern Fate is that the human is merely a vehicle for him. But DC scrambles their characters so often and so much I likely have no idea of what the Modern Fate is.

My one issue with Dr. Fate is that those mirror powers are a bit too Dr. Strange-like. I can already see parents asking if that's "the wizard from the Marvel movies".

This is truly the best DC movie ever. Black Adam is one of those movies how I remember the opening day at the theater wearing the Batman shirt to symbolize the movie and the DC logo cover to the movie itself that Batman is part of DC and makes no appearance in the movie.

Best superhero Movie since Avengers Ultimato. Good structure , narrative, well done CGI , good action scenes. Spiderman 3 was good but rely too much on nostalgia. Ok a shame this story will not be followed. A waste of a good oportunity.
As much as I appreciate Dwayne Johnson being in comedic roles, he is definitely more suited for a military or superhero/villain role and this trailer cements that.
No he's not. He's an ex-wrestler, comedic, over the top acting is just right up his alley, and he's pretty damn good at it.

Yesterday someone drew a complete blank when I mentioned Dr Fate, it's depressing how few DC characters have infiltrated into pop culture.
The bed DC movie so far. The casting for Black Adam, Fate and Hawk was surprisingly perfect. They each deserve their own movies really. DC don't burn this.
Aquaman 2 was great but s missed opportunity to introduce another super villain to help expand the DC universe.

When this movie was about to come out, I wanted to comment, "Please don't disappoint" as I had high expectations from it. I wanted it to the highest grossing film both for DC and Dwayne Johnson.

DC's movie mistake was not having Black Adam in previous DC movies like Marvel did. It suddenly appeared and seemed unrelated to other DC films.

I like the “You can be the destroyer of this world, or it’s saviour” line from Doctor Fate.
I think it’d be sick if he was actually the destroyer, hope that’s the route the movie goes instead of all these other “villain” movies where they just end as an anti-hero.
That would be best, especially since Black Adam was traditionally a Captain Marvel villain.
Black Adam acts as a hero fairly often, against world-ending threats. At the end of the day his motivation is usually just to protect his country and his country happens to be on planet Earth so he has to defend it.

Oh my God exclamation point every time I watch this movie I pray that someday a Black Adam comes to Earth. It amazes me that we call mankind the superior species on the Earth. They just keep shooting their bullets and their missiles at him and he just keeps wiping them out. And we think we're the ones with the brains😂😂 really puts things in perspective

I thought that casting choice was spot on. Pierce is a lot like Jeremy Irons in that they both are impeccable actors but they really dont get many roles nowadays.

I am a huge Doctor Fate fan and even though he's not showing up in his own movie, it's just awesome to see a live action version of him being played by one of my favorite actors. They casted everyone perfectly in this movie. WB got a win with the new Batman movie. Now we just need this to work and DC movies might be back on track.

I like how you can't tell if he's the hero or the villain. I only hope they don't turn it around at the last moment and make him the savior. I like morally gray characters who only look out for themselves and don't necessarily want to destroy the world or conquer it.

This was actually pretty great. Probably the best DC has ever put out in recent times. I lean more towards Marvel since they have more films but damn, if Warner Bros continues to do this, Marvel will have some good competition. The cast was great, acting was great, story was great, CGI was great. I'm gonna say this, and IDC if I get hate but this is better than Wakanda Forever. Better than a few of Marvel's recent movies actually.

I've always been far more interested in Black Adam as a character than Shazam so I'm absolutely stoked this is being made. If done right this could not only give Shazam and Superman a solid antagonist but it could open the door for more villain/antihero adaptations to be done.

excited to see dc reaching into the magic/darker side of the universe. hoping to see more justice league dark/justice society stuff in the future. superhero films are much more interesting when they stretch into extreme corners like super cosmic or dark magic or gritty street level stuff as opposed to just making it all one blob. lantern corps, batfam, swamp thing, zatanna, ms martian, hawk corp, hawkworld, etc are so interesting but havent been explored yet

The film is said to have failed. BUT I think there was a desperate need for a superhero movie with such a dark atmosphere. I also really liked the music in the film.

Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate is an amazing choice, his voice sounds perfect for the character. Now, if only DC would cast Clancy Brown to play Lex Luthor in live action. Also, i hope we see The Atom shrink down to sub-atomic size and travel through electrical wire or a wired internet connection.
That’s not the atom, that’s atom smasher. He can shrink but he primary thing is getting big in size similar to Antman. And he has super strength.

The problem is that he's done too many big strong guy roles.
It just looks like Dwayne playing himself with powers at this point which isn't too imaginative on the part of the studio.
