I have narcolepsy and this video has been so helpful. When I tell people I have a sleeping disorder that makes me spontaneously fall asleep they look skeptical; rather than boring them with a definition that could be illegitimate, I send them to this video. It's funny, informative, and legitimizes the issue, so thank you.
I have narcolepsy and I love this video. Not many people know what narcolepsy is, so when I tell people I have it I tell them to watch this--it's a mix of information and humor, and it doesn't bore people. It makes us feel sad and wanting to laugh, much like the disease. Thanks for posting
most likely the dog was still awake when the attacks happen. its cataplexy part of the illness i think. excitement triggers it. laughing does in most humans with the illness. i deal with the same issues. im fully awake when i fall but i just cant move or talk to say different. so most will think im knocked out :P
tallladyjay It is very disruptive and intrusive, but luckily like the video said, it isn't particularly painful or unpleasent. So while he needs some extra help and someone to make sure he doesn't fell or something, at least it doesn't inherently cause him any discomfort.
I just watched about 4 videos of narcoleptic people and this is the only one that made me cry , i don't know why i'm more sympathetic towards pets than i am humans
i would cry every time and every day if it was my little puppy. I feel so bad for him and his mommy ... look how sad she is when the dog can't make it up onto the sofa... People can suffer from that too... don't think any of those how think it is soooo funny would still be laughing if it was them falling asleep where ever they stand or walk ...
He wasn't sleeping. This report is confusing narcolepsy and cataplexy. This dog's symptoms are cataplexy triggered by emotions. It's like sleep paralysis while ones awake.
Most of the time in this video the dog doesn't struggle with tiredness, but he is happy, which triggers a cataplexy... However, people (and dogs) are fully awake during a cataplexy... Just in a few cases a very long lasting cataplexy can eventually lead to someone becoming tired... Mixing up tiredness and cataplexy is a common misconception about narcolepsy...
This is EXACTLY what I was going to comment. The excitement this dog feels causes cataplexy as any strong emotions do. There are so many videos on the news and RUclips misinforming people. There are people without cataplexy with Narcolepsy. I can handle sleep attacks and falling asleep randomly. I do not like laughing with my children and keeling over. If you notice that dogs eyes are open. Not sleeping.
Gloria Jean Yeah I know right! I am actually someone without cataplexy, though I might now be showing symptoms,,, But yeah i honestly wish there wasn't so much misinformation about narcolepsy! I try finding out more about it but its so hard at times because of stuff like this!
Ame Exactly! I'm sorry you are beginning to have signs of cataplexy, I did not recognize it when I first had the signs - I put it down to clumsiness! I sure know differently now. Searching forums with other people with N+C has helped me learn. I wish you the best!
Pixel Master35* ummmmm. They do, depending on the person and what sets off their cataplexy, like if a fire alarm went off they may become scared and the excitement would cause them to lose control of some muscles. For some it’s mild and is the face, for others it’s more extreme and results in total muscle control loss in their legs or whole body.
he is experiencing cataplexy. a symtpom of narcolepsy. he is not actually asleep in most of of the attacks. cataplexy is the sudden temporary loss of muscle tone while remaining conscious usually triggered by emotion
This dog is so cute. I know, it's sad that every minute of his life is like this, but every time he falls asleep I want to pick him up, and cuddle him until he wakes up.
Well no. There's a girl who has narcolepsy and she has her own house and a boyfriend who cares dearly for her. She had to drop out of college though because she couldn't take her online courses but I believe she's doing fine now.
Well, actually I am working and doing well, but I'm seriously concerned about my career. Climbing up the ladder means more and more meetings. However, falling asleep in a meeting is anything but helpful. Especially not if it happens very often. And I'm losing quite some time due to sleep. I probably need 10h per day, which is ca. 2h more than others - every fucking day. That's a lot of lost time... Also I would never be allowed to fly a plane. Has nothing to do with my job, but it's sad anyways...
In the year 2017, Skeeter gave birth to a single puppy, who too had a condition triggered by excitement. He would grow in size, become stronger, faster, angrier filled with rage, and turning green... he was... HULK-DOG.
When Skeeter hits his face on the floor and I hear the noise I just want to kiss him! He looks so soft and cuddly. What a cute dog. I feel sorry for him but at least he has a loving family.
Poor dog... he even looks out of his eyes like he's saying 'help me'... I hope they figure out something to help him, and possibly people with the same issue.
Our dog would do that when she got excited. She was diagnosed with a faulty heart valve. It got worse as time went on to the point she couldn't even climb the stairs without passing out. We had to put her to sleep. Very sad.
poor little thing!in the beginning you start to smile but then you see him fighting so hard that it breaks your heart!i hope they find a cure for this!
the puppy is so cute for wanting to keep trying... i feel so bad for this puppy

that was so sad and so adorable at the same time
He's still a good boy tho :(
The goodest boy 😔
mirandajo you can’t even spell
@@WELLINGTON20 Dude, it's a meme.
Poor, Baby. Can they put padding on him for when he slams into the floor. I heard his little head bang when he slumped over and it jarred him up!
"he looks so miserable. he looks like a prisoner in his own body."
:( when i heard that i wanted to cry.
"And there he goes! Out cold!" I admittedly laughed at this.
poor doggy
Damn, hello gman from 11 years ago
@@ralfsegle3119 this feels like when you see your teacher at the grocery store
Wow didn't expect to find you here lol
That's kind of sad if you really think about it. It's cute the first few seconds, but then you start feeling really bad for the baby.
poor baby :/
He can't enjoy anything or it puts him to sleep...
Anthony Edwards Stoicism is the answer
Lol good luck
wtf is up with the upbeat music to this?
32deej loll I was gonna mention that! And the endless puns and upbeat tone of voice
Shut up it’s a damn dog
I'll have to admit that the condition is sad, but at the same time the pooch looks do freaking adorable! I just want to hug it :)
I know I shouldn't laugh but the news announcer is so extra Lmao

1:31 when his jaw hits the floor, it gets me every time.
I thought that was the metal ring on his collar that hit the floor. Ugh. Wish I didn't go back and look. Poor baby

Cataplexy was my same thought.
It’s partly cataplexy and may I ask do u have narcolepsy as I do and I’ve never spoke to anyone or met anyone else who has it.
I'm glad you're educated on this issue because it's really scary..
Cheyenne Eagles I do, I haven’t spoken to anyone else who does either.
its sad...but you gotta admit a little funny. and very cute!
Poor little dog, it's a good job he's not mine, I have narcolepsy too! We'd just constantly be sleeping :'D
Me too lol
On the bright side, he doesn't know what it means to be a normal dog.
He's the cutest thing i've ever seen!!! God bless him and his family!!!
Haven't laughed this hard in a while.
Thanks RUclips!
This breaks my heart. So sad. I wish the best for this poor little guy.
He's even got the cataplexy aspect... that's something.
I just watched about 4 videos of narcoleptic people and this is the only one that made me cry , i don't know why i'm more sympathetic towards pets than i am humans
Omg same here +Emma saeed
I know strangely I feel worse for dogs IDK maybe it's bec they are totally helpless and don't know what is going on poor baby 😭😭 and he's just a cutie
ikr

He’s so cute. I want to cry :( cutest dog ever

Thank youuuuu
As a 16 year old with narcolepsy and cataplexy, this was heartbreaking to watch. That poor dog.
your not alone, I showed this to my daughter and she was literally on the floor crying! Her stomach hurts. But she was like awwww how cute :)
it is so sad!! but i love that its owner still apprecciates it.
lovely dog!! keep on loving it
uh actually thats Cataplexy which is a symptom of narcolepsy lol

Gloria Jean Ah there is no need to be sorry its not your fault! And thank you I will go and check that out! thanks a bunch!! :0
It was nice talking with you :)
I hope the forums help!
Imagine if people did this. That’d be weird in a job interview.

Good thing most job interviews aren’t that stressful though. If they struggle with feeling nervous though it may trigger more easily.
give that dog a monster. he will NEVER sleep again
That is one of the CUTEST dogs I've ever seen!
this is so sad
I am a tv anchor woman. I show no signs of caring that the condition got worse and happily announce the next story will be about the tallest dog.
It's so CUTE!! And FLUFFY!!!
he is experiencing cataplexy. a symtpom of narcolepsy. he is not actually asleep in most of of the attacks. cataplexy is the sudden temporary loss of muscle tone while remaining conscious usually triggered by emotion
Cute, poor little puppy ~ Makes me wanna cry :(
PLEASE DONT LET HIM ON HARD SURFACES WHEN UR NOT KEEPING HIM CALM

+Gabe Trester LMAO
Its such a cute dog but i feel so bad for him :(
This dog is so cute. I know, it's sad that every minute of his life is like this, but every time he falls asleep I want to pick him up, and cuddle him until he wakes up.
This was way more funnier than I should have thought it wasn't.
Poor dog 🐕🤧
At least he's not human or he would end up homeless then blamed for it and called lazy.
Well no. There's a girl who has narcolepsy and she has her own house and a boyfriend who cares dearly for her. She had to drop out of college though because she couldn't take her online courses but I believe she's doing fine now.
My classmate has s home :/
Bro i have a home too

"His narcolepsy is triggered by excitement" Tell me the biggest nerf to a living species other than that.
I hope he will still live a happy life.
Maybe this dog needs a set of 10 brand new triple A batteries and it will be fine trust me I had one when I was 10
why am I laughing so hard.
I'm SERIOUSLY going to Hell
sooo cute!
Nobody:
RUclips: How about a pass out pooch?
Me: Here it goes again
Somebody just put that dog to sleep. Put it out of it's misery.
+Nate Smith Is that a joke?
Nate Smith Ah, ok I get it now! Nice one. XD
I see what you did there
Fuckin hilarious.
burn in hell :)
It's hilarious how pathetic you are
Haha it is indeed humorous - stop bein downers
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so i did both.
I feel bad, but i can't stop laughing.

Is bad that I found that hysterical? It was just so funny.
1:13 Skeeter plays dead😂 bro just really said that

It's so adorable. >w
SOOOO CUTE,
I love him
RIP Skeeter forever in our hearts
When Skeeter hits his face on the floor and I hear the noise I just want to kiss him! He looks so soft and cuddly. What a cute dog. I feel sorry for him but at least he has a loving family.
Omg the poor little thing , god bless him
he's too cute
Bless him x
my internet is so slow, i fall asleep watching this....
At least he can't run away.
What a total rejection when a dog falls asleep when you try to get it to come up on the sofa with you.
This is the funniest animal video on RUclips
Poor dog... he even looks out of his eyes like he's saying 'help me'... I hope they figure out something to help him, and possibly people with the same issue.
This makes me so sad, wow poor innocent animal.
Skeeter is adorable.
I see how this can be heartbreaking for a family!
Precious guy❤️😞❤️
The way he just wants struggles to stay awake after being exited like when he was trying to get on the couch was cute but sad
aww he is the best boy
Oh bless him!
this is so sad but so funny at the same time ...i can't help it LOL
1:31
Ow! F###!
My jaw hurts just seeing that.
haha my pit bull, dozer also has narcolepsy but we give him medicine to help him out. he only passes out when he’s super excited
They need to put plush rugs in every room so the poor puppy doesn't get hurt slamming his face on the hard floor.
the saddest time
Our dog would do that when she got excited. She was diagnosed with a faulty heart valve. It got worse as time went on to the point she couldn't even climb the stairs without passing out. We had to put her to sleep. Very sad.
Maybe... Keep him off the tile. The sound of that jaw hitting the deck sends chills. Poor little guy
poor little thing!in the beginning you start to smile but then you see him fighting so hard that it breaks your heart!i hope they find a cure for this!
This is so sad...breaks my heart!
Bruh why is this in my recommended 12 years later
AWWW I LOVE HIM
So sad but omg it’s so cute when he’s sleeping
What an adorable dog! His curly white fur reminds me of a lamb. And sheeps are often associated with dreams.
My heart hurts ...
This has to be excruciatingly frustrating. For the owners and for the dog.
he better be using energizers
