I have this lens along with the BMCCP4k. I'm still learning everything being I just got it. But this lens is amazing. Got a call with a friend to Thursday to film a nice Trailer for some footage. Ready to get to work.
Nice! Dude I love this lens on the p4k. My only issue is because of the size I have get larger rails for my follow focus... but if that’s my only issue, I think I’m ok hahaha

It’s funny that you complain about using it handheld for more than 30 minutes. A couple months ago I shot a full feature movie in ten days with my GH4 fully rigged up on my shoulder, including 7 inch monitor, audio recorder and a 4 pounds counterweight on the rear, for almost 18 hours straight everyday. Never touched the tripod or the slide. Only shoulder rig. Of course I returned home fully exhausted and had to be in bed for two full weeks! But I’m used to that kind of works since I was twenty something... almost 30 years ago! Great videos, keep on doing just like that.
What’s funny is I bought the 50-100 which is worse. I very quickly invested in a shoulder rig lol

I love this lens! I used it first for photography on my D5300, then on the D500 and now also on the GH5 for video mainly. Btw I think your audio is slightly offset.

It really is! I’ve seen people hate on it from a film making side of things, but you can’t hate the results. It’s so clean!
Anson & Co. People need to understand that not everything is for everyone, so majority of people liking something doesn’t mean that everyone will. Well it’s gonna be the lens that lives on my camera however when I want a new look I’ll drop on my RMC Tokina 28mm, I love the look that old film lens gives.

I'm curious... So I have the original pocket and already have a Viltrox Nikon to MFT speedbooster and Sigma 17-50 2.8. Now I'm planning to buy the p4K and 18-35, so I'm wondering, should I buy a Viltrox Canon to MFT and Canon Sigma version, or buy A Nikon version?
I quit photography, so the lens system doesn't bother me much, but having a Canon mount will give me an electronic control of my lens, plus i will be able to use it on 6K and Ursa if i upgrade, right?

You are 1000% correct! On all counts. Love it on both these these cameras. Unless it’s on my gimbal, I prefer to use one of my primes on my GH5. I don’t even bother unrigging my P4K 😂
No joke I’ve basically made my P4k and heldheld or tripod only set up. NO way am I taking that rig apart. And I am with on the primes for gimbal use. This would be great just a little smaller for gimbal, but at the same time would not offer a massive set up for the P4k. So all in all, I’ll take it hahaha

Awesome review, as usual. I see your main camera is the GH4. I think i read a comment where you said you were using a Viltrox Nikon adapter and not MFT. Why not MFT adapter so you could use it on both cameras?
It’s a viltrox Nikon to MFT adapter so i can use it on all my MFTCAMERAS
Does this speed booster works out the Box or do u need to do some type of lens calibration

@@Ansonandco I have a question.I have also the the bmpcc4k with Viltrox-EF II but my rokinon aps-c lenses have vignetting.That is what's stopping me from sigma and thinking more of Canon L series FF.Do you experience vignetting since the sigma is also APS-C?Cheers.
What does the focul range become when on gh5 with speedbooster, it becomes wider or tighter
I bought this lens from eBay a few days ago and am still waiting for it to arrive. I was totally sold on it initially but now I'm starting to wonder if it might be the wrong choice for me mainly due to the weight and the apparent sharp, clinical-ness.. I usually shoot on a gimbal for most non-interview material and I fear it might be a bit too heavy for that.

You’re very welcome! Honestly if yourself and a few others didn’t ask for it, I probably would have sat on it for another 6 months lol. That and sigma sent me the 50-100 and so like I felt I need to talk about this one before that one.
I mentioned IF you use it with a speed booster. I never actually mentioned using one. This edit got the best of me lol but I did use a speedbooster for everything. It is the viltrox Nikon speedbooster. Gotta save that money!

Very good review. It looks like a great versatile lens. Only few years ago it would unheard of to have any zoom with constant f1.8 aperture, not even f1.8 zoom anything. Samples look sweet. If I had APS-C camera this would be my number one choice lens I think. Love Sigmas #washingmyhandsnow

You've sold me on the lens, but please specify which adapter you use, or can be used, to mount this lens on the BMDP 4K.
I am using a viltrox speedbooster for MFT. I am specifically using Nikon for this lens and so it’s Nikon to MFT speedbooster.
Does it produce any issue while attach with viltrox m2 speed booster in bmpcc4k ??
I have not seen any issues with my viltrox. Now I am using the Nikon version and so no AF. But I’ve also heard really good things with the EF version.
I use canon m6 mark ii with 18-35mm 1.8 and viltrox speed booster. I see the barrel of the lens on the edges at 18 mm. Anyone have the same problem?
With the speed booster and sensor size it may exceed how much the lens actually covers. Have you tried using a non speed booster electronic adapter?
Anson & Co. not yet I guess that is the next step lol. But once I zoom in to 22 or 24 you can’t notice the edges. Thanks for the reply :)
Yeah I would guess that since the lens is made for APSC sensors when you put a speedbooster on it you are making it wider than it can handle and so yeah I would try that.

Hey! First of all congrats on the purchase, you WILL NOT regret it. Secondly, yes you will need an adapter for it. You don’t need a speedbooster, but you will need something that has good aperture control. I picked up a passive Viltrox adapter for $30 bucks on amazon. I may have left a link in the description. You do have to adapt the lens. From either canon or Nikon to MFT. I am using the Nikon version and using a Nikon to MFT speedbooster. I also have a passive adapter for Nikon to MFT as well. Just make sure the adapter has a good aperture control.

You will need an EF to MFT or Nikon to MFT adapter. Which one depends on which mount you buy the lens for. It is not native to MFT.

Would you know what MM and fstop 3:08 was shot at? Looks like theres alot of separation but the subject is mostly all in focus
That was on the GH5 so I would bet that I filmed that at 35mm and wide open at 1.8

Yes I use a viltrox speedbooster or dummy adapter for it.
I ended up with the Viltrox EF-M2 II

what are your thoughts on Meike cine lens?
I had the 16mm for a couple of weeks and was not impressed with it. But that is just personal taste. The controlled focus breathing was not worth for it for me to justify

i thought this lens is NOT focus by wire? as most m43 lens are, but i guess if it true then this must mean a different focus by wire? most gh5 users opt out away from m43 lens because the manual focus by wire isnt the best for filming? Great video by the way
Still focus by wire but has focus markers and hard stops. So better for filming than some focus by wire lenses.
Can somebodey recomend a lens adapter or speedbooster for the Nikon Version?

Anson & Co. Awesome. I have a BMPCC 4K and am getting lost in all of the information out there. I want to make great use of the Cinema camera. Trying to narrow down my next lens for cinematic shooting. My only lens is the 25 mm 7artisans lens. Which do recommend I get next? Sigma 18-35 1.8?

Good question. I would like to shoot short/micro films, music videos and promotional product videos.
In reality for my experience , focusing in this lens on an Viltrox adapter is a nightmare. Most shots are not sharply focussed. It may be the issue with the adapter and not the lens. I traded this lens for 12-40 olympus f 2..8 pro .
USed to be my favorite till i got a Voigdlander Nokton 25mm F/0.95

I have both cameras and the same sigma lens...but i like the Voigtlanders the most ... cant beat that moiré and 0.95!

They really really REALLY! NEED to make a STABILIZED version with a wide open f stop of 1.4... And MORE IMPORTANTLY, AFFORDABLE. Meaning under! a $1000.00 Dollars.
With todayz manufacturing technology & techniques, There's ABSOLUTELY NO! reason for it not to exist and be affordable.
