This is a Rick Davies classic theme, like a sequel to "Rudy". I love the pause where you think the song has ended and then it bursts open again to reveal the lover boy's sad view on life as just sexual conquest when true love would have been his cure.
In my opinion this was Supertramp at their best! Their harmonies were beyond great. I like Roger Hodson, but in his later years, and in the new bands he played with does not compare to what he had with these guys. Just listened to Lord is it mine with these guys, and no one could of done a better and more beautiful take on that song than the original Supertramp. Thanks for posting, it makes me sad, because these days will never be back, and now I am 62 and the good music like this takes me back to a much happier life and time.
I agree so much......i listened to this album, along with Crime of the Century endlessly. I was a mostly fan of progressive, but loved Supertramp then and now.
canção maravilhosa...olha a guitarra do Hodgson na segunda estrofe...entrando sem querer chamar a atenção, harmonizando todo o conjunto...que marravilha!
Yes. A famous classical composer once said "The art of composition is the art of transition". Rick and Roger are each brilliant at this, they take you on a journey, and tell you a story, with their elaborate song-sections each of which seems to just flow perfectly naturally out of the previous one.
Hey, my growing up favorite band growing up seen them every chance I could OMG FABULOUS EVERY CONCERT THE FAIRWELL CONCERT THEY WERE ALL DRESSED IN WHITE TUXS!! Man and I remember that my girlfriend and I were flat busted on the way to the concert we stopped at the 18. 7 +11 store for a bag of ice to keep our drinks cold and on the way out of the 18 I looked down and BAM, there was a crumpled up 100$ on the ground I snagged that up so fast and I threw at my friend in the car and said ahhh I just found a 100 bucks needless to say that. Made our night what memories this was like 1984 or 85 I will always be #1 SUPERTRAMP BIGGEST FAN... Thank you, SUPERTRAMP💯 🌎✌💜😀
Maybe the best song in this century

Absolutely that is why 100s of years from now in collage music classes they will talk about Supertramp. Cheers

Yes, agree, they were at their peak with this album. All downhill after this.

Maybe David Gilmour could play on guitar like Roger
Wouldn't mind getting my hands on 'that book.' Probably past it!!
Troppo bella ❤❤❤❤❤❤😭😭
Indeed!!!
For example the starting background synthetizer from 1:35
Great sound on this post. Ingenious song, but, that is what Supertramp does.
