Enjoyed that, followed! :). Love walking along like this, very well done. And what an amazing thing to own and use a camera that’s been in your family for so long.
Excellent. Thank you for taking me back to Amsterdam! I had a chance to spend several days here in 2015 and shot a lot of 35mm film through a Contax G2, but I should have taken my Rolleiflex 2.8F along for the ride.
Thanks! Great that you have photos from 2015 because the overall vibe of the city has changed a lot. Thankfully all the historic stuff still looks the same ☺️You should definitely come back with the Rolleiflex some day! They might not be the most travel friendly camera haha but the photos will be stunning!
You have done it so beautifully! as a local you can grow tired of your own city but you just reminded me again how how beautiful it is! Ik hou van Amsterdam :D
OMG such an awesome video!!!! Love it so much, the editing and filming is really nice and photos are fabulous!! What a beautiful place there, cannot wait to see your YT journey, I'm so here for it!
Wonderful! Our family just came back from a vacation in Amsterdam this summer, and I loved seeing more of Jordaan in your vlog. I took lots of photos but none as artistic and thoughtful as yours. And I loved the color from the Kodak Gold and Portra films stocks!
I watched this for my morning mindfulness and feel so relaxed right now. I am going to approach my day with my mental roli by my side, inspired by you ☺️
Hehe love to hear this Hollie! And you can go for mindful Rollei inspired photowalks, just get into the zen zone and limit yourself to 12 frames. LMK if you try this ☺️
Thanks Taylor! I wanna eventually do every neighborhood in Amsterdam (to pair with the city guides on my blog). Shall we go explore Spaardammerbuurt this autumn?
Hey Lily, loved the first video, subscribed! 😄I also love wandering around cities capturing moments so I'm keen to see the next video. Jealous you have such a great cinematographer!
Hi Matt, thanks for following along. I love your podcast too. Amsterdam is such a cute city, there’s so much to explore and I can’t wait to show ya more!
Well I can safely say this is the best debut video from a film photography RUclipsr I have ever seen! Well done to you for capturing such beautiful scenes and also your videographer has gotten so many angles and done so well following you around! Also how beautiful is Amsterdam I want to go!
Wow Lucy, thank you so much! This is such flattering feedback from a YT vet who’s work I admire 🫶🏽 It was fun to bring y’all along for my photowalk and I’m excited to keep sharing more. Of course, when you visit Amsterdam I will take you to all the scenic spots!
Lily what an amazing youtube debut!! You captured a sunny Amsterdam day perfectly. The scene on the swing was my favourite though, I love the message it came with ❤️ Can’t wait to see what you’ll bring next!
Aww thank you Carmen! I love to pause for a swing sesh, it totally takes me back to being 7 years old and reinvigorates me spirit. Highly recommended! 👌🏽
Wow this was a really nice video. So calm and beautiful. I loved your photos of Amsterdam! You capture it so nice! I really enjoyed watching!! Thank you
@@samuelhollin1524 It’s such a fun camera to use! Not sure which Leica you’re referring to but the shutter sound in this video from my Rolleiflex, I recorded it myself ☺️
@ Ah! The volume increase has it sounding exactly like a cloth shutter to me. Have you looked into using a Rolleifix and Pano adapter? Seems like those would be fun tools to use in the places you visit.
Love this 😍 It really felt like I was walking with you through the Jordaan (the best neighborhood)! I should also try to go for a walk early when it’s still so quiet ☺️☀️
Hi Lily, it's J. Scott from the other windmill city on the Fox River. 😂 This footage is all so beautiful and I loved seeing your shots!! I love it all - the canals, the boats, the flowers, the people, the produce, the OLD PHONE BOOTH THAT IS NOW A LIBRARY!!! You're so fortunate to live there. I'm so excited to find your channel and have subscribed!
Excellent content! I have the exact same 2.8f ... I think mine was used quite hard by a reporter, but thankfully the taking lens is spotless. I am always searching for inspiration and film stock reccos, so your channel will be quite helpful, thanks!
So cool to think about the past lives our cameras lived before us. I wish there were more than 120 film stocks available, but my favorites are Gold 200 and Fuji Pro 400H (although it's sadly discounted and really hard to find). I wanna try the Lomography 120s too, have you?
@ I have NOT tried the Lomo stuff but I think I will! I just finished a 35mm roll of the Lomo Metropolis and I like it. Grain for days. And nice latitude.
@@maisondaoki aww hehe the little dog was an unexpected supporting character hehe. many people loved that photo too so I added it to my printshop, take a look: lilywanderlust.darkroom.com/
Just came across this video, absolutely love your style and content. I'm a freshman college student in the US, and I'm currently getting my grandma's old Rolleiflex restored. Having never used one before, I was wondering if you had any advice for how to compose shots in medium format, as well as any metering tips you use given that there's no internal meter on the 60s camera. Very excited to see more videos from you!
Thanks for following along! So cool to have your grandma’s Rollei, you’re gonna love it. I plan to make a few videos with tips but in the meantime I’d say, practice makes perfect👌🏽 The reverse viewfinder takes some getting used to but your mind will adjust the 6x6 format. Some Rolleiflex models have light meters (mine does) but you can also use a handheld meter. When you get the camera back from CLA do a test roll and keep exposure notes. Then, you can come compare your notes with the final shots and adjust from there. Have fun!
I’ll do my best to keep them coming every few weeks. Next up, I’m going to explore Spain with my Rollei so stay tuned for that! Do you have any particular questions about the Rolleiflex? Happy to answer them in a new video sometime.
The voiceover is sort of a remikser of what ruined Amsterdam for me, which is American tourists, who talk exactly like that, and praise every little speck of dust in that city, because they cannot handle the weed they smoked. However, I forgive you, since you are hot.
That was a beautiful video presentation. I would love to go and visit that neighborhood the next time I’m in Amsterdam. Thank you so much. 😊
I'm completely zen now, so thank you for taking me along Lily! ❤
Aww happy to hear that Astrid! I thought of you during our snack break, it’s the same Vietnamese spot we went to 💕
Love to see my neighborhood through your eyes!! Great video and photos!
Thank you! Happy to meet up for a scenic photo walk sometime :)

Hey Bart Jan, dankjewel! I would love to bring my Rollei down to the dunes in The Hague so, maybe we can meet up for a nature photowalk sometime?
I also own a Rolleiflex that my grand father used to have !! Also great video, looking forward to seeing your next videos :D
@@pastelxloky That’s so cool! What’s your favorite 120 film to use with it?
I love this so much and you are just adding to my desire to buy a film camera!
