Reminds me of when Kareem was about to beat chamberlains scoring record and his response was, “had I known people cared that much about the scoring total I would have set that thing so high nobody would ever break it”
Yeah but the fact that MJ took the goat title himself without even beating the scoring record is fking insane. Stats don't mean sht if your peers say you da best ever.
@@edwardbrito4010 Wilt intentionally toned down his scoring to play a less selfish brand of ball, become a high-assists player, and win championships. If he wanted to jack up that scoring record, he very obviously could have. ...but it might've tanked his reputation.

MVP is very dumb debate Joker should have won 3 straight MJ should have 8MVPS Kobe should have 3 Lebron should have 2more than he has Its subjective. How many times did Kobe finish RUNNER up or 3rd? Media didn't fuck with Kobe after that lying bitch from Colorado falsely accused him of rape.
Thank you Gilbert Arenas starting @1:07. That's exactly the point people don't get about MJ. The dude was partying, gambling probably f%$king the biggest celebs all night and he will come in the next day and win you the biggest games. Lebron is on my body is my temple vibe and he has won less. People saw MJ and got a taste of virtuoso talent mixed with a real MF. That's hard to unseat unless you are more virtuoso and more of a MF. Think about this: his main acoloyte Kobe has so many acolytes of his own among players and fans. We gotta stop this discussion at some time.
Jordan said it once already - he’s not motivated by beating the all time record. However you put LBJ and Kobe in the league with MJ - he’d be motivated to BEAT them and he’d play as long as he can to dominate them, then once he’s bored he’d move on.
Exactly! This the same guy who had to make up fake drama in his head to motivate himself to go out and demolish his opponents. He demolished Clyde Drexler all because the media was saying Drexler was on his level. MJ a psychopath.

I believe it was an interview during the 97 or 98 finals. Jordan said point blank, I’m not chasing records, I’m trying to win. If I was chasing records, I would not have retired in order to catch Kareem. So if you have Jordan, crazy Jordan in the mindset of knowing it’s a kid coming and going to play for 20 seasons straight and going to rival you in talks of the greatest. He’s not retiring and he’s breaking Kareem’s record in 16 or 17 full seasons
@@sportstalkonly1442 How does the “body not holding up “ argument make any logical sense when referencing a player playing 9 full 82 game seasons while leading the league in usage rate? He had that one outlier season in 1985-86 where he broke his foot and was relatively healthy ever since. Somehow managed to play 60 games in 2001-02 despite a meniscus tear and played all 82 games at age 40 . No excuses, no load management.
@@sportstalkonly1442 No CHOOSING to play another professional sport is the opposite of your “body not holding up”. No choosing to retire again because the sport no longer fulfills you mentally/psychologically again has nothing to with his body.
@jesslancaste83aj did you look at how he looked on the wizards? Did you notice that only after going to 3 straight finals he needed a break? Clearly his body wouldn't hold up. Lebron went to 8 straight finals, 10 overall, played 62k minutes and 3 full seasons of playoff games and still playing at a high level after 21 years and no breaks. U tried it tho
I'm so shocked by Gil's take here. I guess that's why I keep tuning in because he's always going to have an unexpected logic with his takes. For the record, I'm taking Jordan also.
I would always go with Tim Duncan. No drama, rock solid stability, exceptionally easy to build around. If you give him borderline all stars and passable coaching, that guarantees a deep playoff run. But Michael Jordan is hard to beat once you factor in the money and global marketability. The Bulls are still a global brand off of Jordan's 90s run.
@@invincible0463 I would suggest you to look up Timmy's 2002-2003 campaign. Easily one of the greatest carry jobs of all time. Here are the combined stats for Parker, Ginobili, and Stephen Jackson in the playoffs: 37 PPG at 40% FG%. The Admiral was done at that point. He averaged 7.8 PPG and 6.6 RPG for the whole playoffs. Pop had the good sense of running everything through Timmy who got doubled on every possession. Pop was yet to become the offensive mastermind we know him to be today. Timmy went through the Marbury - Marion - Rookie Stoudemire Suns, the Nowitzki - Nash Mavericks, the Kobe - Shaq Lakers, and the high flying Nets headed by Jason Kidd to win that championship. He put up 24-17-5 in the playoffs with 5.3 blocks (Still a playoff record). Give him his respect! You guys have to stop looking at the names of the roster and assuming that the team was stacked. This roster was a mixture of really old players, journeyman veterans, and inexperienced young players. That was absolutely a top 3 carry job in NBA history.
@@invincible0463 Sure in 01-02 his best statistical year he lead the Spurs to a 58 win team despite his the 2nd best scoring option only scored 12 PPG. And Pop is the GOAT because of Duncan.
This is assuming they'd stay for 20 years. If lebron played in Jordan's era, he wouldn't be able to move like that. They had different regulations on that type of stuff.
That’s why he didn’t last as long because he gave it his all unlike Lebron who took a lot of games off during the season and coasted a lot. If Jordan played in todays nba he would last a lot longer and that points record would have never been in reach if he played 18 season not even 20
@Jeff Bengco no load management.... stayed with a team to win rather than jump ship.... 4 rings with 3 teams in 20 years compared to a 6-ring dynasty with one team. That's what he means. Plus Jordan won his 1st in 7, LBJ in 9.
People forget how modern medicine and technology has benefited bron for playing 20 years. I remember when no one came back after acl injuries back in the days. Give MJ todays medicine, technology, training, shoes, courts, team jets and see what happens.
He’s OK on the shoes 😂, but I agree with everything else. Less physical, less shotblocking centers, more spacing, he’s shooting more 3s. It’s a nightmare scenario, considering the numbers he racked up shooting 2s and going into the paint full of shotblockers almost each night. Sure the centers are more skilled now, but that is irrelevant when it comes to stopping an opposing player.
@@akilanvijayaratnam5891 Did MJ quit because of media pressure? 1st time was in relation to his father's death. 2nd was upper management quite literally in self destruct mode. If anything, MJ would take anything he'll see negative in social media as personal. He's not KD.
Tim Duncan. Ultimate professional. All time defender. Great offence. Unselfish. Not ball dominant. Can defer to other players. Can check all time Power Forwards and all time centres.
That man played 19 years competing for a championship, not once were the Spurs a mediocre team with Timmy in the lineup. Pretty insane thinking about it.
I like Timmy. I think he's top 10 all time. What didn't help is his continual abuse at the hands of Shaq and kobe. Shaq would either just dunk it on Tim or shove him aside for the layup or jump hook. Kobe would either shoot it over timmy, say "f it" and dunk on Timmy. Blow by Timmy for the layup or the dunk. So the optics were never in tims favor when it came to those two.
Ultimate great and ultimate puppet to the grand master of all clip boards sir pop. It was pop orchestration that lead the spurs to those chips n those finals trips. Timmy played his part for many many years. Timmy was a loyal puppet that did everything pop said and moved the same way every game every year. Timmy never changed shit. When he spoke in game it was more less pop. Timmy never really spoke. He wasn’t the on the edge type not even savagely dominant like shaq and Garnett. He dominated the mid range and glass with ease n barely got hurt. He was tough mentally and never broke his concentration. Timmy was a solider but if I had to take him over lebron I gotta have pop too.
I’m glad Gil mentioned that Jordan was still balling when he came back with the wizards . If her doesn’t hurt his knee they make it into the playoffs .
Gil made a very compelling point. Given that Gil was the black hole of a team. That guy was straight up grab and just shoot lol. Him picking MJ surprised me. Jordan didn't have a reference to chase. He just wanted to be a champion known by his peers. In doing so He just kept setting the bar higher and higher into his own atmosphere. Plus when you are on a team with Jordan like the 96 Bulls, the whole team was considered rockstars. For a guy that “shoots a lot” that type of player usually dominates stats that doesn’t translate to team wins. MJ kept his high octane scoring while still able to have Scottie be considered the 2nd best player in the league at one point. You can bet your ass every bulls game were jammed packed and sold out. I seen lbj play live in CLE and I don't remember against who or the year. I just know he didn't make it memorable for me. LBJ plays to chase another man. MJ played for every fan who bought tickets to watch him play.
He has. When did Kareem break the record? 2003? Championship? He has Bill to chase. Where is Jordan the number 1 player in that accolade? I consider Jordan to be the best cause of his carisma and his beautiful movement. Lebron is not beautiful to look at.
The fact MJ took the goat title himself without even beating the scoring record is fking insane. Stats don't mean sht if your peers say you da best ever.
Larry Bird once told a teammate to get away from him cause he wasn't interested in going back into a game the Celtics were winning just pat his stats. That's old school. Those guys wanted rings not records.
@KingKromah Lol then everyone in the nba is fking horrible then. u dumbsht retard if that's ur argument and if u even believe what scottie's jealous drugged ass is talkn bout
Gotta agree with Gil here. People don't seem to understand how insanely competitive MJ was/is. If you could magically bring MJ in his prime into the NBA around the time LBJ came into the league, the LBJ narrative would be completely different. 1) LBJ's Cavs don't make the Finals for all those battles with Steph's warriors with Jordan in the East with the Bulls. 2) this also means that the the years with the Heat wouldn't have resulted in Finals appearances/championship. 3) Jordan would have set the scoring record so far out of reach for LBJ because LBJ would have had to keep pace with a guy who could legit drop 40+ anytime he wanted for 20 years. 4) people don't seem to understand the wear and tear the physicality the old NBA had on some of the legends of the game. In the modern NBA you got guys who would struggle to get 10 or 20 points in the old NBA who put up 40, 50 even 60 points like its pick up baskeball....you put Jordan in this era where physical basketball is not just regular defense, and he had to do what he did in an era where you could legit get close lined going to the basket and the story is way different. Just put it this way.....look at the Jordan fade away era, so after he retired and came back....the average defender would defend Jordan by digging their heels in so he couldn't back them down and just resting their elbow in his back. Remember how virtually unstoppable that shot was with the guy pushing his elbow into Jordan's back. In the modern NBA that kind of defense is a foul which means that people would have to guard that move without the leverage of the elbow preventing him from using his superior footwork to just turn on guys and get layups. Also since there are no major shot blockers in the league now whose gonna stop him from actually taking the fade away or pump faking defenders and going to the basket for dunks. I love LBJ and what he's doing and has done for the game, but Michael was a different type of beast! You can't manifest that level of competitive passion, high level of skill and athleticism in one player and let him loose in an NBA where defenders can't touch the offensive player....MJ would be the cheat code in the modern NBA and while I love LBJ, if prime MJ played in the same era as LBJ, we'd be talking about LBJ the same way we talk about Charles Barkley, he will always be an all time great, but he would always be in the shadow of the greatest player to ever lace them up.
It’s Jordan…your telling me I can have Jordan for 20 years straight The man that won 6 rings in 13 years The man that has made the Chicago Bulls one of the most recognizable franchise’s in NBA The guy that dominates the shoe market The man that was one of the most exciting players to ever watch The man that everybody wanted to be The man that play 82 games more often or not while sick or hurt and never gave up Yeah give me Jordan especially if your telling me I’m gonna have a healthy Jordan for 20 years Edit:because some of y’all have a issue with the 6 rings for 13 years I’m talking about healthy seasons even tho those 13 include his wizards years But he won 6 rings in 15 years One more thing I know this isn’t the same results I’ll end up with He is the most profitable player the NBA has ever seen while also being the greatest player of all time Why pick anybody else when Spencer also brought in profit and consistency of player And what they would mean to my franchise

This is the one take that people often forget about why MJ is still the goat. He wasn't someone trynna chase a goat status or records his peers just said fk it he's the best ever.
He badly wanted to pass Magic's back-to-back repeat titles, and when he got his first three-peat, he said he now had zero motivation to play anymore and retired. He was definitely always comparing himself to Magic, who many were saying was the best. Including (briefly) trying to get a lot of triple doubles (because Magic was famous for them). He got fully half of his career triple doubles in a one month stretch, but it wore him down and the Bulls lost their last 5 or 6 games in a row during that stretch of games.
all im going to say is that when jordan got injured he didnt have ice machine that reduces swelling in your whole body. Jordan played 82 games for 9 season while bron only had one which was in 2018 and he hasnt looked the same since he did that.
Jordan, because of how he'd make sure everyone else works hard. I think lebron a little too nice especially earlier on, I feel Jordan either run you out or get you together

5 Reasons he Picked Jordan over Lebron... 1.) Availability - Played at least 80 Games 11 times in his career 2.) Doesn't need a Superstar to Compete - never had a Teammate average at least 20ppg consistently 3.)Better Scorer - Averaged 30 8x in regular season and and averaged 30+ in playoffs 12x along with being 10x Scoring Champ 4.) Better Defender - 3x Steals Champ, Defensive player of the year 5.) Can will his team to Victory Reasons why he didn't choose Lebron 1.) Availability - He's good for at least 60-70games those last 12 games matter 2.) Needs worlds of Help - Dwade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie, Kevin Love, Anthony Davis, Rondo, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo... All Hall of Famers 3.) Not everybody can play with Lebron... - we saw what a team that only has Lebron looks like and it was not pretty... 1st year with Lakers he had Caruso, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Jordan Clarkson and Lonzo Ball and was fighting for his life... Meanwhile Jimmy has a team full of Undrafted free agents and is in the Championship wow.... 4.) He picks and choose when to be aggressive instead of in full fledged attack mode from the Jump thats why he put his teams in situations they shouldn't be in like the Nuggets for example nobody on that team could guard him... it took him game 4 to be Aggressive when he should of been Aggressive since game 1... 5.) He's a Coach killer... If Lebron has a bad season its not Lebron fault its whoever the 2nd, 3rd, or Coach is... When he wins he takes the flowers being thrown at him perfect example when they was losing with him towards the end and he got hurt and AD started winning games Lebron came back quick fast and in a hurry because he wants to feel like they winning because of him and Not AD... But when they lose he puts pressure on everybody instead of Taking blame for an L... thats what Kobe and MJ do... hell thats what Jimmy do... Matter fact Everything Jimmy is doing right now is why he picking Jordan over Lebron if he was building a team... You can say Lebron being Elite for 20 years and going to the finals 100 times and winning 4 is GOAT level... But with MJ we gone get these 6 Chips quick fast and in a hurry
Gil was like harden build + melo skillset . Underrated for sure. Wizards fan here and I remember one stretch was like magic. Buzzer beaters every other night.
Larry Bird for me probably. Comes into the league clutch, off-ball dominant, elite playmaking, team guy first who makes everyone else much better. Can’t sleep on Steph for somewhat similar reasons tbh. Can’t go wrong with MJ or Kobe but you have to suffer 5-6 years of selfish play before you play actual basketball. Idk yeah I’d go Larry, for sure. Too smart too good straight stone cold clutch killer. 🐦
I respect and love everyone’s Duncan picks but honestly it’s gotta be MJ because he proved he only really needed a Robin (Pippen) to get it done, so you’d only need to find that guy and save cap space with passable role players, I used to hate looking at the low block on those Bulls teams lol, Wennington, Purdue, Longley(him being the best of them which ain’t saying much) Scott Williams, Cartwright, Cliff Livingston, ANY points they gave you was a plus lol, only needed them to snag 5-10 rebounds, set screens and that’s basically what you got out them, if MJ ever had at least an Alonzo Mourning it would’ve been nightmarish for the rest of the league.
@@hashmoncrief6965 weakness’s as a player. No one player can win a championship on their own, unless opponents suck. U need other guys to play their roles. Including when they got Horace and Scottie in 87, it was hard to watch that all the Bulls had were MJ. But he brought hope and community back in the stands for them. With MJ on the floor they were -4 and when he was off the court he was -11-15. Opponents were smart, they always chose to attack the defense on the opposite site of MJ for the majority. It was not till 91 when prior MJ forced Scottie and gang to join their breakfast club to weight train together and kill them in practice did they grow and then the rest is history.
You got to pick MJ just on sheer charisma, theatrics, out of mind improvisational skills where's he is pulling unseen moves on the fly, the dude was the object classes about marketing and sales at universities, money wise it's the best choice.
It's Jordan.. He only played 11 full seasons with the Bulls and won 6 rings. Played over 80 games most of the time. Lebron came into the league chasing Jordan and like Gilbert said, if Jordan came after Lebron he would smash all of Lebrons scoring record. Nobody cared about the scoring record back then. If they told Jordan he had to break the scoring record he would have.
I mean lebron is worse he just played longer jordan averages the most points ever at 30. Something including his wizard era which only brought his stats down lol. Even tho I took statistics u you just need common sense to understand once u do something long enough hence d rose wouldn’t count averages matter more. @Ryan Mandeville prime Jordan scored 37ppg, won defensive player of the year. Prime lebron did what? Nigga had to join with 2 superstars to win a title.
No cared about the Scoring record because no one thought any person would pass Kareem.Heck remember when Karl Malone became second Jordan even said no one could catch that record. Lol but James did and this comes form a Shaq and Kobe Fan
MJ really played only 12 full seasons he had the foot injury the knee injury at 38 & the first retirement. I agree with Gilbert. MJ is too competitive. Also MJ told John Thompson in an interview that he never played for stats or he would have try to break Kareem record. He said he just plays to win & collect ring's. It all the guys ahead of him to play 18 plus years to catch him in scoring. If MJ just played 20 year like the other guys an average 25 a game for 8 years along with his 32,000 points he's at almost at 50,000 points. At age 35 he was the NBA Finals MVP the all-star MVP all defensive player all NBA player & regular season MVP. So if he did all of that I don't believe he would fall off. With the game being so soft & the guys being able to come in so young the scoring title will be broken sooner than later. The guy who does that won't be better than the previous players but the rules make the game easier for them. Just like Jim Brown doesn't have the rushing yards as Emmitt Smith but Jim Brown was the best running back of all. The rules change made it possible for Brady to be able to play as long as he did. But really Payton & Elway & Montana were better and Montana is the GOAT in quarterbacks.
do scoring title really matter embid won it this year and ain't win so what does it matter same with players like Melo won one and didn't win the goal is to win chips the point will come that's a dumb mentality you can drop 50 and lose and be like at least I scored 50 but I'd rather scor 20 and win . those is what I call unless stats they matter as a player but don't matter for the team winning

Bill Russel, the man was a player and coach at the same time. The capability to absorb the knowledge of the game in a way where he can help teach it. Plus help manage personel is priceless.
What I love about this video is Gil proves he’s ALWAYS KNOWN Jordan the dude. He just argued that Jordan is the goat by picking Jordan. The other dudes claiming LeBron just exposed themselves with the: “not your favorite (Kobe my favorite🥴)”. Then they wanna say: “that’s an if though” even though ALL THEIR LeBron arguments as to why he lost is “… an if though”. Lol.
If Jordan would have taken better care of his health, with modern science, and slept , he would easily go for 20 years. Especially if he stopped playing defense like Lebron lol
I’m liking these Duncan picks, stay solid my dudes. Duncan is such a solid player all around. Can put up points with anyone, defense is better than LeBron and top tier defense overall, and rebounding, add longevity and consistency without all the ups and downs. Solid foundation that you can build around. Duncan for the win.
LeBrons most success came with the most talented rosters you could assemble. Sasha Vujacic played big minutes to help Kobe get a ring. LeBron needed Ray Allen to come off the bench who retired the best 3 shooter of all time.
Who won a ring without help though? Jordan had Pippen, and had Rodman in the last 3 rings; literally on the Mt Rushmore of the best basketball defenders of all time with Ben Wallace, Manut Bol and Bill Russell.
@@monunyabidness5949 nobody does it without help. NOBODY. But in terms of stars and their help only KD has a better assortment of help. Gill makes a compelling argument. In terms of scoring and reliability, I would take MJ over anyone. You need some clutch free throws, MJ's got it. He literally has no flaws to his game and if MJ was in this era he would be a much better 3 pt scorer than Bron as his midrange and Freethrow percentages show he is a more skilled shooter than bron. Lebron is an all time great, a specimen but some of his is good/great. However, most of MJ's game is flawless.
Bron has higher fg% though, not to mention being able to play any position including center and pg. If MJ was flawless, he should have been able to play all positions as well with 100% fg%. That's flawless. You just say what you want to believe lol
@@Misaki11111 LeBron‘s field-goal percentage is deceiving because we know the majority of his shots for most of his career was dunks, layups and put backs which are much easier shots to make and there is a such thing as trying to do too much when it comes to guarding every position

Finally Gil said something sensible, obvious, and logical… Bron has been chasing MJ and MJ was not chasing anyone or stats, else MJ wouldn’t have retired or taken breaks. More so, it was mainly about the chips for MJ and Kobe, but Bron and his fan boys turned it about stats and some even weirder stats which are often irrelevant or weren’t ever considered significant during MJ/Kobe’s era. Comparing them is baseless at the end of the day
Agreed, by the time Jordan won his second ring, he was considered the greatest of all time. Jordan wasn't even top ten in scoring at that point. That third ring there absolutely was no argument. Bill Russell had 11, Magic had 5 and Kareem had 5 too I believe. That three peat put Jordan over all those guys because before he was winning everyone knew he was the best player talent wise ever. He just needed to prove that he could win as a SG. He had zero to prove at that point. Then he comes back and three peats again just to add the cherry on the top. I agree with you on the stats. Now a days they are just ridiculous.
Gil’s argument on if Jordan new someone would play 20 years and break the scoring record don’t make sense. Cuz he could say the same about Kareem who had it before Jordan retired 😅
Lol dont get it twisted there was no clear goat conv before MJ, it was Bill, Wilt, Kareem, Bird, Magic etc.. until MJ took it his own, so even if you told those guys to play more years are they really still gonna be better than Mike on court? hell no lol
What made him the goat was cuz he had zero weakness physically and mentally not because of bs 20 years stats or scoring records.. every "goat" before him had a flaw. he was the unanimous.
Gil is right it’s Jordan! No disrespect to any of the other players but I’m old enough to remember seeing him play live and we never thought he would lose! Listen to how his competitors talk about him! He was a stone cold killer where Kobe’s mentally come from… Jordan! Rip to the legend! He averaged 37 with hand checking what would he average now without being able to touch him or knock him out of the sky? He also was a great two way player who won defensive player of the year and MVP the same season!
@@danhantheman while watching a game you feel either confident or scared we never “thought” he would lose is that saying he never lost. So Spencer denies Gilbert the MJ "if" scenario but he proceeds to assume an "if" scenario with being owner of a team that LeBron would stay in the same franchise for 20 years.
This whole GOAT comparison with Bron and MJ is just disrespectful. Many of us never saw Wilt, Bill Russell, etc and all those guys in their day. The conversation should be more who is the GOAT of a certain era since the game changes often.
Absolutely right. Just consider how wilt was faster, stronger, and had a higher vertical than Jordan. Instead of shooting free throws Wilt was gonna dunk his free throws until the NBA made a rule banning it. His records are just insane. It's like the NBA didn't exist before Jordan.

I'd go with JORDAN because I'd win more with him given I had a complete 20yrs compare to the others. Mike won 6 in 8 yrs so my goodness had he not retired who knows. Even pippen who doesn't like JORDAN said the bulls likely could've won 2 to 3 more had he not retired so I'm definitely going with Mike. No doubt about it
It depends on who these guys had with them because the teammates, coaching, and front office matter in that scenario. It’s not just based on one player. That’s a big part but no one does it just because they are great. It’s a lot of greats that coulda been greater with the right cast.
People say Bron the goat everytime he makes a crazy achievement or break another record but that only speaks on longevity. MJ was named the best ever by NBA legends even before he made crazy achievements that fact alone is says it all.
If you are an owner and you would have to choose which player will give you championships, Jordan got 2 threepeats for the Bulls, Lebron has 4 for different teams in many more seasons. An smart owner would choose more wins in less time any time of the week.
Give me Jordan all day.....................I don't have to worry about his work ethic, him screaming load management, wanting to take games off and not play, flopping, afraid to take the last shot, closing out a series or EVER having a game 7 in a championship series.
@@gabetv6355 ya logic makes 0 sense. 1st off if we talking All time Draft from an owner perspective. We saw what Jordan did when he had Just a lil bit of Help from Scottie Pippen. We can’t be blind to Jordan’s individual efforts alone. The man averaged like 38 and damn near a triple double while shooting over 80% from the line and had the most free throws made that year. That’s with no help. So Give him a wing, that can give you 10 - 15 points, play D, and rebound. (Pippen). Then give him a Big that can give you 10-15 points, and grab about 8-10 rebounds. (Horace Grant). And give him 1 shooter! (Paxxson). That’s all MJ needed to win 3 straight championships. Just think of that.
@@StCropper you’re proven my point one man can’t do it alone he was getting called god in tennis shoes and getting knock out first round . Don’t minimize Dennis Rodman defense and rebounding Tony Kukoc drawing bigs from the rim and Ron Harper coming off the bench. No player can win unless the right team is around him no matter the star.
@@gabetv6355 lol I don’t think you see how you proving my point. Maybe this will work better… Overrall where do you rank Kucok and Rodman? And Reminder they was for the second 3 peat. Rodman average less than 8 points. Bout 13 rebounds. Under 60% Ft. Superb defense. Kucoc average less than 15 points, less than 5 rebounds, under 70% FT. Average defense. Add Pippen. 15 - 20 points. 7 rebounds. 70% FT. Superb defense. That’s a 3 peat Championship team WITH Jordan at the Helm. You mean to tell me you can’t put better pieces around prime MJ to be more successful than that?? Like let’s be honest 😂😂😂 The pieces he had weren’t all that great man 😂. Without MJ Scottie barely averaged 20 and 70% and lower FT. Without Scottie MJ was averaging over 30 and shooting over 80% FT from the line. Averaging 2-3 steals. 5-8 assist. That’s your starting piece…. If you CANT BUILD AROUND THAT, then you shouldn’t be an OWNER. And that’s the MAIN reason why Jordan got 6 titles in a decade and is part of a DYNASTY. It’s easy to build around. Look at Shaq. Gave him a player like Kobe and instant 3 peat. Easy to build around. Even Kobe in 09 and 2010. Gave him the right pieces to BUILD around him. When you break everything down, it’s easy to see. Lebron is not that 😂 We’ve seen the effort, and it’s not there. Give me MJ or Kobe.
For those who think LeBron is the goat, explain how while playing with DWade, Chris Bosh, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis he only managed to win 4 times out of 9 while having the most stacked roster in the league.
Not trying to change anyone's mind but a gentleman discussion. To me basketball isn't a sport you win alone, like how "superteams" formed usually struggles during their first one or two years. Chemistry is a real thing. Then you need to have a decent coach, role players and everything. To me MJ's career is straight out of a storybook. Everything just fall into a really ideal situation. As to your question, he only got Wade and Bosh a couple of season. It was post injury Wade not the same old Flash we actually know, he himself said it on multiple pod and all. He just wasn't feeling like that anymore like he acknowledged that hey he's a 2nd option kinda guy post injury and he just don't feel like he's on the level of Bron and Kobe during that period anymore. Bosh has his health issues too and I'm a fan of Bosh but I don't think Bosh is the type of player that you see and be like oh he is THE ONE. K-Love and Ky, injuries and a lot of unfortunate timings. Plus you gotta know they didn't get to play a lot A LOT together you know what I mean? Love falls into the category of Bosh for me, yeah dude can put up crazy number on a bad team and that's that (not discrediting how good of a baller they are). Davis wise, c'mon everyone would hold their breathe every time he fell. The season he was healthy and with the right pieces they won. To me the coach actually plays a huge part, you're just screwed if your coach decides to play 3 guards non-stop etc. That's how I feel personally and I honestly don't think LeBron has the most stacked rosters for 9 times. They're automatically labelled a contender because he was there. I feel that if LeBron got a Wade-esqe player (Scottie Pippen) after 3 years in the league and actually develop together and play alongside. His "finals" record will be a lot nicer + if he have Spoel for as many year as MJ has Phil and we all know Phil > Spoel. Also I honestly feel that the role players of those Bulls dynasties aren't getting credit enough. Horace Grant, Toni Kukoc, Ron Harper, BJ Armstrong and Steve Kerr (Yes, Steve Kerr) etc. are extremely valuable to the team. Like once MJ was being torched by Rex Chapman and Phil had to ask MJ to NOT GUARD Rex and get Kerr to guard Rex instead. Kerr was not as "useless" as people might think. Have a good day sir!

Rodman was arguably 4th or 5th best player on the Bad Boys, yes best defender an rebounder, but that team was loaded. And people like you who use the Rodman trade to devalue Mike completely overlook Mike had already won 3 peat with far less talent and no Rodman. In fact, he swept Rodman's team. Pistons fizzled out with a 1st round loss and missed the playoffs. Why wasn't PRIME Rodman good enough to help prime Joe Dumars make noise? Prime David Robinson?
@@moneymoney3235 Now yall wanna say dont look at age when we bring up facts about Rodman being old. But when it comes to Lebron, oh Melo , Dwight (who won 3 DPOY and more than Rodman) were washed. Pick a side dumbass.
And Lebron after playing with multiple Top 75 players still has less rings and 6 Ls in the finals. That's the thing tho MJ always delivered unlike Lebron in 2011.
MJ never cared about Kareem's scoring record, tho; he said that to Silas, when he retired the 1st time, but facing Bron and a prime Kobe as his rivals and beating them would be his motivation, tho.
Bron is without question the guy I'm taking. Dude is going to thrive regardless of coach gm or talent around him. All those other guys were 7th and 8th seeds with bad coaches and no star player next to them. Bron went to the finals twice with rosters most people will never remember.
That's a good point people don't bring up. I remember Isiah Thomas saying Lebron could be the only great player to never have a hall of fame coach in his career. Spo suddenly got a lot better and will be in the hall one day, but he was nowhere close to that when Bron was playing for him.
I mean, you went wrong: you didn't pick MJ. LBJ and TD are definitely top-7 picks, but Shaq is a pretty weak pick. If you can't make FTs, you can't close games. And if your best player can't play late in close games, it becomes much harder to win it all. There's a reason Shaq needed Kobe/Wade.
It’s a team game so if they don’t play with other all star level players it don’t even matter. None of them would be in the GOAT convo if they didn’t have at least one other perennial all star ever during their careers. That’s just how it works in a team sport.
my problem with this debate has always been making it sound like it is EVEN Close. It surprised me even more when some try to use the point scoring record as a new argument (not much else to use quite frankly); if at least he had won like 5 scoring-titles...at least?!..but only ONE. KD, Curry, Harden and even Westbrook have more scoring titles each than LeBron.
Bro, when are you going to understand that today's nba is different than before. We have way more talented players now. People evolve. We get better.
Gil with the genius analysis
It’s Jordan…your telling me I can have Jordan for 20 years straight
The man that won 6 rings in 13 years
The man that has made the Chicago Bulls one of the most recognizable franchise’s in NBA
The guy that dominates the shoe market
The man that was one of the most exciting players to ever watch
The man that everybody wanted to be
The man that play 82 games more often or not while sick or hurt and never gave up
Yeah give me Jordan especially if your telling me I’m gonna have a healthy Jordan for 20 years
Edit:because some of y’all have a issue with the 6 rings for 13 years I’m talking about healthy seasons even tho those 13 include his wizards years
But he won 6 rings in 15 years
One more thing I know this isn’t the same results I’ll end up with
He is the most profitable player the NBA has ever seen while also being the greatest player of all time
Why pick anybody else when Spencer also brought in profit and consistency of player
And what they would mean to my franchise
if thats the case, ill take Russell and win 18 in 20 years.
Lol but you only get 13 can’t just extend his career 😂

As in who’s gonna play every game
Who’s not gonna fold under pressure
Who’s gonna give you the best chance to win
Who do you want your leader of the team
Who’s gonna bring in the most money
Who’s gonna make your team and teams mates better
Whos easier to plug and play also
who you want the face of the franchise
And to me that’s Jordan
Because he only cared bout winning at any cost
You could count on him every single game
If he didn’t show up on offence
He still made a impact on Defence
He still hustled and worked harder then most to perfect his craft
Jordan legitimately gives you the best chance of winning and raising your team to new heights
@@phillipschuman4307 Magic called MJ the best ever when he still had 2 rings 😂

5 Reasons he Picked Jordan over Lebron...
1.) Availability - Played at least 80 Games 11 times in his career
2.) Doesn't need a Superstar to Compete - never had a Teammate average at least 20ppg consistently
3.)Better Scorer - Averaged 30 8x in regular season and and averaged 30+ in playoffs 12x along with being 10x Scoring Champ
4.) Better Defender - 3x Steals Champ, Defensive player of the year
5.) Can will his team to Victory
Reasons why he didn't choose Lebron
1.) Availability - He's good for at least 60-70games those last 12 games matter
2.) Needs worlds of Help - Dwade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie, Kevin Love, Anthony Davis, Rondo, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo... All Hall of Famers
3.) Not everybody can play with Lebron...
Gil was like harden build + melo skillset
Same page.
Magic, Bird, Lebron, Duncan and Shaq are great franchise starters that are proven to have positive outcome immediately.
I would start with Larry Bird.
MJ all day, no weaknesses and will work for the franchise like no other.
No weaknesses, he couldn't win a championship for 6 years, he couldn't win without Pippen, a lot of weaknesses , Kobe's the better player.
@@hashmoncrief6965 weakness’s as a player. No one player can win a championship on their own, unless opponents suck. U need other guys to play their roles.
Chicago were drug ridden in his first few years, only MJ and Oakley were in the game, the rest were like zombies.
This may be the best argument I've ever heard for why Michael Jordan is the GOAT and why that will never change.
Who’s here after the Gils arena draft and seeing Gil draft Lebron over Jordan ?
Prime Jordan vs Prime Lebron... Prime Lebron is better and it's not even a debate.

@@khalilwilliams1818 I don't think they matter as much as they used to. 30ppg now isn't the same 30ppg pre 2010s when teams had a hard time scoring 100pts

LeBrons most success came with the most talented rosters you could assemble. Sasha Vujacic played big minutes to help Kobe get a ring. LeBron needed Ray Allen to come off the bench who retired the best 3 shooter of all time.

(Paxxson).

Like let’s be honest 😂😂😂
The pieces he had weren’t all that great man 😂.
Lebron is not that 😂
We’ve seen the effort, and it’s not there.

@@noyce. how many excuses o you have to make for YOUR goat its funny. what about 2007 and 2011?
@@LL-rc2ol My GOAT is Kareem actually so I don't have any excuses to make unfortunately. The younger lads caught up.
I have long accepted the fact that MJ/LeBron has surpassed Kareem.
@@noyce. just a bunch of excuses. We could say if Kobe got Chris Paul in a trade or if Kobe didn’t have injuries at the end or if MJ didn’t take Year and a half off or of MJ teamed up with Hakeem they would have more rings too.
Gilbert is a basketball genius
He came back and won 3 championships……yeah after adding champion Rodman top 5 defender ever menace hustles like no other and best rebounder all time. Lead the “big bad 90s” in rebounds by a ton
Rodman was 35 36 an 37....how come LeBron couldn't win with Melo an ad?
@@jonoak don’t look at age look at what they do on the court common sense
@@moneymoney3235 Hakeem beat both prime Admiral and Rodman. Rodman was damn near about to be out of the league. No one wanted him. I mean he was traded for Will Perdue. The guy is a super role player extraordinaire, but even then, you're undermining the value of the leadership he would show out for due to respect. He wouldn't play for Shaq or Kobe, Robinson and Pop upstairs back then too and dont forget young Dirk and Nash and Finley with Don Nelson.
Dont be trying to rewrite history for your LeNarratives making it seem like the best team added some major hot commodity like the Warriors adding KD. Pippen didn't even want him. Rodman is one o the best defenders and rebounders, but there's only so much else he could do. In any era, if your 3rd best player only contributes less than 6ppg, your team is going to have issues.
Using LJ fans logic, it would mean Malone, who is top 3 in all time scoring is greater than Jordan (5), Kobe (4), Wilt (7) or Shaq (8).
Damn that logic is sound. Just Look at what Jordan did when he did. Now imagine him now. That’s an easy 45-50 Average.
Bron is without question the guy I'm taking. Dude is going to thrive regardless of coach gm or talent around him. All those other guys were 7th and 8th seeds with bad coaches and no star player next to them. Bron went to the finals twice with rosters most people will never remember.
That’s all well and good until Lebron leaves your team in 5 years
That's a good point people don't bring up. I remember Isiah Thomas saying Lebron could be the only great player to never have a hall of fame coach in his career. Spo suddenly got a lot better and will be in the hall one day, but he was nowhere close to that when Bron was playing for him.

Great point, Done
It's easy Shaq, Duncan, Lebron. Literally can't go wrong
What team has built around shaq and succeeded? Lol wasn’t Kobe already in LA so they’d be build off of Kobe
@@titans360ify the lakers were built around shaq kobe wasn't even a high draft pick
Exactly.
Thanks Mr Obvious
@@nydibs You’re welcome.
LeBron tries to recruit a whole team of them
Kobe and mj is the top two goats 🐐🐐
my problem with this debate has always been making it sound like it is EVEN Close.
Things MJ did back then would be much difficult to do today. MJ played in an era where a 5'3 could play as a starting 5 for 10 years. You see that shit today? No.
@@Misaki11111 Bro, that is the part your type keeps failing to understand: It would be MUCH easier for him with no-hand checking and everybody spreaded out. He would get to the rim every time with his quickness.
@@tellall23 Have you heard of illegal defense? The defense was played differently in the 90s, so most MJ shots were 1v1 with slower opponents, because their play was to switch the less skilled player to defend MJ. If you actually know basketball, it would be harder to make those easy shots the way players are guarded today. Before it was 1v1 so obviously MJ would score 90% of the time, just like lebron, but that'd be 95%
@@tellall23 That's the thing, everybody was spread out in his days, but today, players are quick to close that door, they won't be spreading out because the rules do not force them to!
@@Misaki11111 when I say spreadout, I am referring to SPACING right with all the 3pt shooting: The paint would be wide open for him with his cat-like-quickness. There are no elite perimeter defending right now. Then No hand-checking, it would be way to easy for him. To be clear, there is nothing to debate here, it is the nature of the game. The facts are, the game would be much easier for him with no physicality and no hand-checking
LJ wears 23 for a reason. The GOAT wore it. 23 Michael Jordan.

After his 3rd ring he surpassed them and got a statue calling him the Goat. Bird and Magic was calling Jordan the best ever in the late 80s...that 1st 3peat gave him the official title.
They didn't have the shoe deal Mike had. Saved the NBA but didn't take it global like Mike did. Jordan passed them by his 3rd year.

It's Jordan. And it's not a tough call.

Jordan nor Kobe could win with out Phil Jackson... Coincidence?
Very few players win right out the gate. There’s usually a learning curve
