I have the 2017 jcw, the 231hp, fully loaded bit like yours, and it's bonkers, love it to bits, I don't like the extra load exhaust simply because it makes too. Much noise, there's nothing small about the JCW, I take Ben my retriever in the back and he's happy... Great car, nothing bad about it... Best car I have owned
Phill Ingham awesome - I’m glad you love yours! I don’t take the dog in it anymore because no matter how hard I tried, he still seems to scratch the bump :( but that’s great to hear!
Hı Im upgrading my 2014 Cooper S for JW fully loaded 2018 model I’m quite excited about it, It’s an auto and was told that particular one does 0-60 in 4 seconds...I had a test drive in it, and it seemed more comfy then my Cooper S but never really pushed it so hard....I’d appreciate any info and thanks in Advance
Enjoy! I would look at changing the tyres from run flats over to standard tyres - I don’t think it does 4 seconds to 60, I would have said 6 secs with the auto
Glad you're enjoying the car, I have a '68 plate Cooper S with the John Cooper Work Chili Pack and it's ace. I've often wondered what the full fat JCW is like but tbh never felt the need to change, maybe one day I'll have one.
On my 3rd mini (great second cars) and I remember once being sold a 210 challenge. Found out about the pro tuning exhaust the hard way. Loud to the point of being embarrassing 🚀
Excellent video! I've always wanted a John Cooper Works Mini. I guess my big concern is reliability, I've heard a lot of negative press. Your thoughts please🙂
John Williams brilliant, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I will plan to do some more content of it soon! Interesting topic, personally I’ve had a lot of wear and tear items (brakes / tyres) but that’s all down to me. As for reliability, I haven’t had anything go wrong in the 2 ish years I’ve had it. Unfortunately, recently something is starting to make a noise located around the suspension which I will need to pay for an investigation for! Touch wood it’s nothing serious but you never know - I hope that helps
@@LifeInMotionuk Have a serious JCW hankering these days. I went from a Mini Cooper F56 to a VW GTI and .....can't complain about the performance but the soul somehow is missing ....
Fair play what an awesome channel, thinking of getting a JCW and came across your videos, what a mad exhaust !!. Really good content and extremely well made videos, gutted as I have just seen you have got rid of the JCW but fair play the Porsche is fantastic. Im looking forward to making my way through all your videos and seeing how you get on with the Porsche.
Andrew Butler Thanks Andrew! Really appreciate it - I will be releasing more videos as soon as I can! FYI the JCW is fantastic and you wouldn’t be disappointed!
Any issues with the car since this video was posted? I'm looking at a Jcw mini, but the reliability of the car has me concerned. Death rattle (timing chain), electrical issues, thermostat, oil leaks, etc.
So I have sold the car but I owned it for 2 years. The car never went wrong mechanically. I did replace 5 tyres and 1 wheel as I kept picking up punctures / a few big pot holes! I would always try and buy a car with manufacturers warranty if you’re ever worried about reliability
No jordan ingram, the driving modes only change how sensitive the throttle and steering are. So really sport mode only makes it 'feel' more spritely. The max power when you put your foot all the way down is the same.
@@LifeInMotionuk 80% on sports mode, and as you know the overrun is way too addictive, defo will be adding the pro exhaust kit soon so should see about 150miles to a tank!
hey great vid! A few questions: 1)why do you recommend an auto for a cooper S but a manual for the JCW? 2)please dont feel obliged to answer, but what are the figures like for one of these used, in terms of deposit and monthlys? thanks :)
aidan flood hi mate, thanks! Given the amount of atop start traffic I’m in, I would go auto for both the S and JCW. If you’ve got a traffic fee commute or journey, manual is perfect! As for monthly’s, £300-£350 with £2-3k deposit roughly!
@@LifeInMotionuk that's exactly why I was asking, as someone who covers a lot of miles im getting a bit sick and tired of my clutch, haha! That's the budget I was hoping you'd say haha! Cheers for the speedy response
Angry Dwarf thanks! That’s great, you wouldn’t regret it - for driving for or day to day commuting, it’s brilliant! I actually drove a Italian hot hatch recent which really highlighted how good the Mini is! I’m glad it here - thanks for subscribing!
Have you felt any wear on the suspension after driving it hard? Has your alignment been thrown off to an extent over 15k miles of driving it? Thanks for the video sir.
eddiesushi so good question! Sometimes I do feel that the steering wonders a little. I’ve had 3 new tyres replaced (due to blow outs / punctures) and each time, the car has been re-aligned so I think that would be the reason why the car is still set up nicely! The only wear and tear I’ve seen has been brake pads which is just my driving 🤪 not a problem! I hope you can subscribe to see more!
Great question and absolutely! The exhaust valve remains closed on startup until you open it using a Bluetooth controller. With the car in normal mode, and the valves closed, it is relatively quiet !
@@LifeInMotionuk ok thanks. Well lets see. Im testdriving it tomorrow but i dont think it has them. Lets hope its not too loud when starting. What a weird hope when considering to buy a jcw 😄 Thx thanks for help and keep it up!
Life In Motion They simply cannot install it without the warranty getting void, as the Pro exhaust is not approved for the facelift. Mini is bringing out a new Pro exhaust for the facelift later this year. Unfortunately will be muted compared to yours.
Yes this is a perfect example of why I say the sound a car makes is a huge part of the enjoyment!
I’m going to look at JCW’s today! Thank you for this informative video!

@@LifeInMotionuk those problems ? I think still reliable compared the old engine
jansen melo agreed! Friends 2012 has had a few problems and mine has been okay so far!
Anything after 2015 has no engine problems or recalls. Just do oil changes every 4-5k miles.
The most reliable car I’ve ever owned.

does the different driving modes affect what horse power the car is running at?
I believe so yes! There is actually a display which shows how much horsepower and torque you are using, and that is available, in the mood you’re in!
