Questions for the doctor (you asked for questions!): 1) Is it safe to take r-ALA for years? I've been using 300 mg for a decade. That's supposedly not a therapeutic dose (600 mg) but I have found it effective in reducing PN & helping to reverse MCI (dementia). Got my brain back. That in mind: 2) Can ALA help reverse PN from chemotherapy? If so, what dose? What else should be used? If not, what else works? 3) Does ALA blunt effects of exercise? One of the side effects of chemo was MASSIVE muscle loss, sarcopenia. I'm finding great difficulty in reversing this (I'm over 60 which doesn't help). But survival is hugely dependent on my ability to put muscle back on and reduce falls (falls happen a lot). Can I minimize any negative impact on exercise by cycling or spacing doses of ALA? As an insulin dependent diabetic I found that on each occasion I tried ALA my blood sugars increased and it was difficult to restore the BSL to a well controlled level for several days. Don't know why and I used products from different sources. So, 3 days ago I purchased a bottle of Stabilised, R ALA and I'm taking that together with a multi B at lunch time so as to have a bit a separation from other supplements at breakfast. So far all good. I'm awaiting shipping for benfotiamine from the States (I can't find a local supplier in Oz) to commence on this track.

I’ve been taking R ALA for a month at 600-1000 MG a day. I’ve developed a painful skin rash on my left arm that stings. What is the sense taking a supplement for nerve pain that causes a rash that mimics nurse pain. I have also researched that ALA can cause pins and needles sensation which I have also experienced.
Hi Lee. Sensitivity/allergic reactions can occur with ALA, although they're quite uncommon. However, it doesn't mean that it never happens. Usually we see this if a person has Leaky Gut Syndrome. First of all, I would not take more than 600mg daily of R-ALA, if you're taking it orally. If you're doing ALA via IV you can go as high as 1200 mg. Here's what I would do, get off of the ALA completely and wait for the skin rash to clear up. Once it does, take only 300 mg of R-ALA for 3 days, then stop. See if the skin rash returns. If it does not this can mean that your reaction is dose dependent. Please keep me posted. Blessings.
If you got heavy metal toxicity discovered from a hair test analysis you need to take dmsa to get it out of your body. Then take ALA with dmsa at very very low doses every 3 hours for at least 3 days
I have ideopathic neuropathy and paresthesia. I already take various supplements good for nerve health (omega 3s, Mg glycinate, B complex, etc) so I figured I'd add R lipoic acid to the mix. But every time I take one of the capsules, I get constant random pin pricks and itching sensations in my skin.
ALA helped me lower by Lyrica script by 33%. I was to the point I was just randomly falling asleep when not working and on days off. I talked to my family doctor since the neurologist would not listen and he took over the script, lowered it, and recommended ALA. 5 months later, I have probably gotten several hours back a week.
I see that people are suffering from oral lichen planus when taking ALA. I’ve had it as well but not from taking ALA which I have been taking now and not when I was taking the statin. I got it about 2 years ago when I my cardiologist gave me rosuvastatin to lower my cholesterol. Within a month I had the lacy patches in my mouth and my mouth was so tender and burning. I looked it up and that statin does cause this. I searched online for what could help me get rid of it. It was purslane which is also known as a garden weed called portulaca. I took the pills and it went away and has never bothered me since. My dr was unhappy about me taking not taking the statin. I’m trying natural things to help my cholesterol now. Just thought I’d tell my story about oral lichen planus. I’ve been taking ALA for close to a month now. I will watch and see what happens as I really want to stay on it. If I see ORP happening I will stay on it and use the purslane. I thank you so much because you are helping me with my nerve problems.
Carol - I have read lots on the CHOLESTEROL “story” being a SCAM. We need (esp older women) lots of cholesterol for essential functions. Brain cells (our brain is 30+% cholesterol) need to be constantly renewed … and we need cholesterol for all hormonal functions. I keep away from Big Pharma-educated medical doctors etc. Read up on people like Dr Paul Mason - “Low Carb Down Under” … Mind blowing … imo.
Cholesterol is not the issue, triglycerides are the problem. The big pharma push statins through Doctors, claiming it's to reduce bad cholesterol, which isn't the problem.
Do you have references to the research stating that ALA can be used to safely chelate(without redistribution), by just taking one dose per day? Dr. Andy Cutler did in fact confirm that it can be used to safely chelate; HOWEVER he strongly advised to dose every 2 1/2 hours, for 3 days, to keep the blood levels of the ALA up and MINIMIZE the likelihood of redistribution (being that ALA has a half life of 2 1/2 hours before it drops the bond to mercury). By keeping these blood levels up he stated it would have the least redistribution and maximum benefit to take the metal to your kidneys and be flushed out of the body. Please advise, I’d love to look at the new research you’ve found and the references! Love your channel
Thank you! I stopped taking my R-ALA last week when I read about losing lots of hair while taking R-ALA. I was having really good success with reducing pain and swelling in my leg, but I am so vain and was losing so much hair. I immediately believed that the ALA was causing the hair loss. Now, because of your information, I am going to resume taking my ALA tonight! I will sleep better, too, as it was helping me to sleep. sigh. Vanity is a bad thing.
Hi Siobhan. Good to hear from you again. Don't be too hard on yourself. Now, it's important that you get down to the cause of your hairloss. It could be as simple as stress. It's still worth getting your thyroid hormone levels checked out to make sure you don't have a sluggish thyroid, which can cause a lot of other problems along with hair loss. In the meantime, a supplement I recommend for my patients and use myself is phenomenal at restoring healthy hair. Here's the link:amzn.to/3Zw8Zes (FYI: I have no affiliation with this product or company). Blessings.
I tried taking different ALA supplements 3-4 times. It made me feel awful every time. I could bear it only a week or so. Does that mean that it is displacing toxic metals without binding them to clear out?
Hi, Jill Lashua. ALA can cause an upset stomach for those who may have a sensitive digestive track. Many people sometimes have sensitive stomaches without even realizing it. First, I always suggest taking R-Alpha Lipoic Acid or R-ALA. This is the natural and most bioavailable form of ALA. You may also try taking this vitamin with food. The food will help with digesting the ALA. Lastly, you can use a stairstep method. Take the lowest amount once a day, then slowly work up to the therapeutic dose. If you are having further problems with taking ALA or have other questions, I recommend sending us a message through our website nuphoria.com/? or calling our customer support line (844)400-0101. I hope this helps!

Great video but no mention of its awesome ability to help with sciatic and neuropathy? Wow, this cured my sciatic big time and fairly fast. I have severe degenerative disc disease since age 35 and I'm almost 70. I had severe, debilitating, sciatic for 20 years before finding ALA. A top neurologist wrote an article on it and said his patients see excellent results. What a God send! Only get the R-version, if it doesn't say R, then it's the synthetic S garbage version. A capsule should equal 600mg. If capsule isn't 600 mg look for another company. If needed can take 600 morning, than 12 hours later 600. Take with good meal, if not for some get heartburn like me, plus it's better absorbed with a meal.

Hi Filzah. I responded to your first question on this but wanted to make sure you don't miss it so I'm going to paste my reply here, as well. However, I did forget to mention in my first response, that it is extremely important for you to take a probiotic while you're taking the antibiotic and for a total of 30 days. This is because the antibiotic wipes out the microflora (good bacteria) in your gut, so it needs to be repopulated. While you're actively on the antibiotic, you must wait 4 hours before taking the probiotic. Otherwise the antibiotic will destroy the probiotic. A good brand of probiotic is Garden of Life. Ok- here's my response to amoxicillin from before: "Hi Filzah. Yes, amoxicillin is one of the safer antibiotics. However, because we have so many strains of super bacteria (due to antibiotic overuse), it often times has a diminished efficacy. For ear infections, I always recommend a natural alternative: Herb Pharm Kids Mullein and Garlic Oil. This can be used for adults or children. It's extremely effective. Blessings.

What do you recommend for a daily dose of na-r-ala for type 2 diabetic neuropathy in conjunction with benfotiamine, b6, b9, b12, etc.?

Would you please leave links to the studies referring to ALA and redistribution? Thank you!
That can happen. First make sure you're taking R-ALA and not a brand that just contains ALA. Secondly, take it with food. This may help
Read up on people like
Dr Paul Mason - “Low Carb Down Under” …
Mind blowing … imo.
I'm waiting for them to produce the research before I take RALA
What is the best R-ALA to take? Is there a better brand?
Blessings.

Excellent information, thank you 👍
I tried taking different ALA supplements 3-4 times.

I am a CKD patient. I undergo 3 Dialysis per week. Can I take Alpha Lipolic Acid what are the danger of taking ALA by kidney damage patients

My mother has a diabetic neuropathy is it safe for her and how to use it
Hi Apna. With diabetic neuropathy you're mother will need more than just ALA. She's going to need all of the critical nutrients, including acetyl L Carnitine, to protect her nerves from further ongoing damage from elevated glucose levels. Here are a few of the videos I did on this:

I have had intense pain for three years in the peripheral nerves (numbness, intolerable and painful tingling) in the hands, legs, and even the legs, which is called peripheral neuropathy: All because I took medication: PPIs Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
And although I took benfotiamine, alpha lipoic acid and NAC
The pain never went away, my condition is getting worse and worse.

Dr Coppala does taking daily alpha lipoic acid prevent tooth decay & abcess??…
I had a tooth that needed to be removed as per my dentist, I was concerned about developing an abscess & thru some research read that alpha lipoic acid would prevent abscess…so I began taking the supplement until I could get to Oral Surgery…by the time I got to the dentist I assumed I would need to take an antibiotic to clear the infection before the surgery but was surprised to discover that the dentist reported there was no infection or abscess & the tooth could be removed immediately

Why does my throat burn minutes after taking ala? It didn't happen with a first bottle i took months ago. This time i bought a cheaper brand and that's when i noticed the burning. so i quit that one and ordered the one i took the very first time. This time it caused burning too, What is going on?
thank you very much for all of the iinformation you provide. it is greatly appreciated. I have taken the synthetic form of ALA 2x in the past and have broken out in a itchy rash, on my hands and the back of my neck. It does not take long for me to feel this allergic reaction coming on, maybe a couple of days, but once i stop the supplement it takes my body weeks to recover from the rash. I am wondering if the R-ALA would/could also cause me to have this reaction since i am sensitive to the ALA version. thank you for your help with this issue.
Can 300mg 2 x daily of BENFOTIAMINE also be taken? I'm also on Thyroid meds
Unfortunately I can't take ALA. I tried a 600 mg time release dose and by the end of the day I had a massive headache that lasted more than 24 hrs. I took the pill on a Monday morning and wasnt back to normal until Wednesday morning. After researching just a little I found out that ALA increases Nitric Oxide. I got the same headache once before when I took some beet root powder. Guess its the vasodialation that causes the headache.
That’s interesting hey I’m about to start ala hope it doesn’t cause me headaches I get them a far fair not sure why though
Take it with food. Then headache should be better!
Nitric oxide is good for you. Try lower dosages.
Weird. Youd think you would WANT more nitric oxide. But not at that big an issue.

Will ALA help neuropathy from a spinal injury or a broken ankle injury. My neuropathy in my one foot is horrible. I just started this a week ago

Hi Frank. So, with a bleeding colon or conditions like Crohn's, or ulcerative colitis, I would not take R-ALA by itself. You should take a good quality complete nerve support supplement. Blessings.
