I absolutely love the interview with the British lady. She's well-spoken, knowledgeable, wise, and compassionate. Not only did she bought the poor Vietnamese girl a bike, she's generous with the shoe cleaner scammer and recognized how the locals stood up for her, AND she mentioned how impressive it is for Vietnamese people to be this warm even after all the deadly hardship they've endured for centuries. Simply an amazing human.
This is a BLOCKBUSTER. Chock full of awesome content and I loved the English lady's story about the little girl and the bicycle. That was a highlight for sure. Don't worry about your style of questioning (comment below). There are so many positives from all contributors and any negatives are also forthcoming when prompted and so they should be. Simply, you don't ask they don't tell. That is what makes this channel what it is. I've said it before and I'll say it again - no sugar coating. It is all real factual content and that is exactly what the viewers want to hear. The thumb nail suitably highlights the content and the narration covers it well including the fact the double murder generally mentioned in conversation occurred in Lombok Indonesia. Keep at it champ!! Love your work 🤩
Thanks mate 😁 aw yeah that’s also why I didn’t put it in the thumbnail and phrased it the way I did. :) the title after the full stop does explain what we are talking about in this video. I know it maybe but cheeky of me to put it this way 😅 please forgive me 😜 thanks for your feedback and if too many people do get offended by it I’ll definitely change it 🏆 thanks again Steven
Too right mate. Just read the narration which, may I add, is brilliantly worded. It certainly pays to read that before watching the video for sure and I am guilty of not having done so. My comment above amended as such. Well done Chai @@Chai_Travel
I think d last lady nailed it by saying scams can happen anywhere n u gotta trust yr instincts to get thru.. Im gonna travel solo in may to danang n hanoi n wanted to add hoi an as it seems to have a sweet vibe 💚👍
I have been in Hoi An the first time 10 years ago, it’s was really quiet and beautiful. I just visited back this year in April and was in Schock how busy and touristy it was
We went to Hoi An. We liked it but also not enough to stay longer than necessary. Our feelings about Vietnam (well, Danang, Hoi An and Ban Hill) is mixed. We didn't think it was bad, but compared to where we live not the best either.
The lady that bought the bike for the Vietnamese girl looked well travelled and has a big heart. Good for her and the girl. I can't believe she had fallen for that shoe scam that i warned you about in Hanoi? Lol!😂
Haha yeah, there are so many of them! And some of them start already before you’re able to say no thank you 😅 she was happy to give him some money for it though. Good on her 😊
I stayed a week in 2018, love the place. It was the end of July so during the day it got up to 37c, so I went out late afternoon and nighttime with all the lanterns. Be street smart but if you are travelling for awhile at times you will have small scams on you, a bit more for a taxi or shops having two tier price system. At the end of the day its just small money, dont worry about it, have a laugh and enjoy yourself. I had bigger scams attempted on me in Nha Trang, like undercover police selling weed or dodgy guys trying to take you to girls, Just smile say no thanks and move on.
@@MichaelDuignan-p2c very true, I love the country and hope to be back at the end of the year. The only time I really felt unsafe was crossing the road, it's a little scary at times.
If you come to Vietnam for the first time, you should ask people which taxi is suitable. It's best to call famous taxi companies. Absolutely never take a random taxi.
I got scammed by a taxi driver on the way from the airport to Khaosan Road, Thailand years ago. He didn't turn on the taxi meter. I asked him to turn on but he shouted at me.
I went to Ho Chi Minh once and I'll never go there again.Traumalised by the incident which the hotel take my passport when I check in and never return it to me till I check out.He threatened me with his gangster face.Vietnam? Not recommended.
Never had this problem on our recent trip to Vietnam. Hotels took a copy of our passport and not once did they request to 'hold' our physical passports. Sensational country Vietnam. We will return for another trip to this country in the near future.
Its a video about Hoi An and literally after 2 seconds into the intro" daughter & mother got killed" ? (Which didnt even happen in hoi an but in indonesia)...Can tell, you did this on purpose. Thats terrible
Not sure why this episode got a negative narrative to it in contrast to danang! Keep it neutral chai! The way you phrase questions guides the narrative into positive or negative... Be mindful. Hoi an might be busy in peak season, but so the same for other hotspots in the world 😊 come on a weekday out of peak season and see it at its best 👍
Come on week days it’s a good advice :) I just want to give a good idea what it is like to be at curtain places in Vietnam. At the end I think it seems all very positive 😃
wow this dude is absolutely horrible in this video. Constantly leading the conversation to draw out negativity. Nice try getting the nice British lady to say something negative. Her response is perfect. His stories about crime and scams in Hoi An are totally made up. Take your contrived made up interview somewhere else. Saying a place is busy and touristy is the dumbest complaint about a place.
Horrible is not a nice word really, is it? That dude also edited this video. So, all je positives he left in are in extension what he likes to show too. I’m pretty sure the conclusion of the video is that people have to visit Hôi An regardless. I see it’s hard not to judge 😉
@@Chai_Travel The video edit highlighted the death of a mother and her daughter. As if to associate this unfortunate incident with Hoi An when it had absolutely nothing to do with Hoi An. Also, what did the bad taxi meter have to do with the town? Nothing. But somehow this made into the video. The use of the term Mafia?? no excuse for this sensationalism. The conclusion of the video was that people should visit Hoi An. That is pointless. There were no issues to start with? Why do a video with a bunch of negative non issues in the first place?
I'm also Vietnamese, and I agree that showing the good and the bad is good practice. But how this video was edited is so misleading. Just watching the intro one is led to believe that Hoi An has mafia and a woman and her daughter were killed there. This is sensationalism and not true. Are there scams in Hoi An? Absolutely. But they are minor and typical of all touristy places. But to present Hoi An in such a light as this video to me is irresponsible. I spent 3 days in Hoi An and the worst things I experienced were over paying for the lanterns to be put into the river, and getting a bad banh mi from the famous banh mi Phuong. The people were wonderful and the town is truly magical. It is crowded and touristy for a reason. Just like the Eiffel Tower is touristy for a reason. @@Think-About-It
I love the British lady at the end. Her bike story was great, but she also has a lot of wisdom and common sense as well as compassion and heart.
Yeah she’s so lovely 🥰 I hope her and her two kids have an amazing rest of her stay ❤️
Yes, she was awesome. 9:46

Coming to Vietnam and complaining about the heat.
Tourists complain about too many tourists.
😂😂😂
A main thing for retirees and expats would probably be the weather, if Hoi An is like a sauna such as most places in Southeast Asia and Vietnam?
It's very hot in Bangkok at the moment but I people seem to still love it. I just stay inside a lot.
