I'm a Vietnamese and from my pov, Vietnamese don't harbour any particular negativity towards American, if anyone is wondering, war is long over anyway and those who does probably won't live much longer. As a person, anyone is welcomed as long as you are nice and well behaved, nobody like a Karen & Ken or someone doing a Logan Paul episode here. Vietnamese are curious and even fascinated about American culture, cuisine and way of life. But some topic such as politics are much left to be debated :)

As a Vietnamese living in the USA, I have always longed for going back to my countries for vacation. I know some cons of traveling back to my home country: the pollution, the heavy traffic in Saigon during gridlock, the thieves on the street grabbing your phones or jewelry out of nowhere, the unpredictable rain and unpleasantly humid heat in the South. Despite those cons, I still ❤ my country for the people, most of whom are very friendly and helpful and the food, which is very delicious and tasteful.
Vietnam is attractive to foreign tourists due to, I strongly believe, the food and the people. The nightlife in some big cities like Saigon or Hanoi is dynamic. You will never get bored because you can still see people during nighttime selling food on the streets or those sanitary workers diligently doing their jobs.
Many foreigners going to Vietnam finds it easier to live because of the value of dollar or how easy they can earn money while living in Vietnam through some jobs. For example, many western foreigners can apply to become English teachers in some English schools and get paid 2-3 times higher than Vietnamese ones, who mostly have bachelor degrees in teaching English or other English certificates. Those foreigners not only use English but can make more money in Vietnam since Việt Nam is reaching out more to the world. Việt Nam has more young population who like to speak to foreigners and find other opportunities along the way! Foreigners may greatly benefit from those young Vietnamese generation because they can speak English with those young Vietnamese. In addition, Vietnamese young people will help them like becoming a free tour guide, instructing them how to get along well with local people and the life in Vietnam.
Overall, living in a country with many young people who are ready to speak English and helpful in some ways; good food and cheap almost everything appear to draw more people coming to Vietnam.
For us Vietnamese, we seem to go out to other countries for dollar and higher living conditions. Once we are financial stable, many people I know come back to Vietnam and retire there or they go back and forth to enjoy good lives of both places

If Vietnam is such a good country why do you need to make fortune in other countries instead of helping your country to get better for example by stopping as much as you can the corruption so the taxes paid by the people are properly utilized to help people have a better life which is not the case right now.

Good excuse for being a developing country. If the Japanese think like you do they will not be as advanced as they are now. So just throw away your idea being “poor due to the wars” and ask for less corruption and bribes then you will see the light at the tunnel. There will be no improvement to the development of the country if corruption is still running strong like right now in Vietnam. If the Vietnamese stop telling at the same time to the world that they are still a developing country and they are the most intelligent in the whole world then I think Vietnam has a very BIG problem there.

12:40 I am an American who spent a year in Vietnam. As far as they are concerned, they won "the American war" as they call it. This is a totally reasonable stance. That is a major reason why they are ok with Americans. Imagine being a smallish country and winning against the world's greatest military. They have a lot to be proud about.
Another reason is because so many Vietnamese that live abroad in America send money back home to family in Vietnam.
Third reason is that Vietnam to this day likes the US over China.

Please do not bring discrimination to Vietnam - because a country's path, whether communist or capitalist, has good and bad points - But most importantly, they bring a peaceful life to the people and work actively to manage the country with the goal of improving people's lives and developing the country.
Vietnam's communist regime is not a copy of any other communist country. And finally - Vietnam always respects and welcomes everyone regardless of country, religion, skin color or political system as long as you respect us!
      Friendly welcome !

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. It bears the mark of tradition, culture and customs of the royal dynasties. They live under a communist regime so people like to preserve what their ancestors left behind. Below During the time of the King and the Communist regime, the laws were very strict, thus creating a unique feature of Hanoi. In the past, Hanoi did not have any thieves or robbers on the streets because violations would be punished by death. As for the city, In Ho Chi Minh City, they are more liberal in the capitalist regime, so the crime of robbery on the street is only punishable by imprisonment, so the consequences still exist until now. 2030 Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will ban all motorbikes. in the city. Therefore, Vietnam is rushing to complete the subway so that people can travel easily.

If you want a full exciting trip, visit the south, it has everything a tourist expected but you have to beware of pickpockets and the gangs, Ho Chi Minh city is considered the Las Vegas of Vietnam and also the most chaotic city. As a person, anyone is welcomed as long as you are nice and well behaved, nobody like a Karen & Ken or someone doing a Logan Paul episode here. Vietnamese are curious and even fascinated about American culture, cuisine and way of life. But some topic such as politics are much left to be debated :)

As a communist country the gov't controls the taxi mafia and everything else ... bribery and corruption are in the menu for the daily activities... 80% of tourists won't return to Vietnam because they're afraid to speakout, not like other asian countries like Thailand, Phillipine or others...stop being naive..

Ridiculous statement. India is not a communist country and has 1 billion people living below the poverty line.

True, the fact that it's communist is probably why people are happier and the country is growing faster than places like the Philippines. I found life more free and with more opportunities than the UK when I was there. Was going to move there to live and work but because we had no proper covid restrictions in the UK I got severe long covid. In Vietnam and China I wouldn't have got it as they had such effective restrictions in place until vaccination was fully rolled out. Well played to them, they handled covid better than every single western nation bar maybe NZ or Australia

If there were the second capital of Vietnam, it should be Saigon (HCM). Hanoi is more favourable as a capital because the inland location near China/Lao (Communist countries) make it safer for outside attacks. Besides, the unity of Vietnam was achieved under the leadership of Communism, most of whom members come from the North, while the South prefer Capitalism.
