Congrats. For me even after 29 years of being a truck mechanic. The hardest part of the whole thing was the air brake test during the pre-trip. (In CA) the five steps have to be in chronologically and performed/spoken perfect.
this video inspired me bro im 29 and sick of working dead end jobs. tbh i was too nervous to even try to get a cdl but now im ready. seeing this makes me excited as heck. always wanted to be a trucker!
same boat as you. im getting mine soon. was in a motorcycle accident and labor work aint it for me no more with all this pain. Hows the last 2-3 months been, you pull the trigger all the way and start schooling ?
Congrats dude. Nerves are everything and being able to overcome it when it counts is a true sign of inner strength. Best of luck to you and your future. Stay safe.
I got my CDL through the company I worked for, stuck with them for about 8 months, It was an LTL company so I was local and home every night. That job put me in some tough backing situations, and backing into docks in some really tight, hard to maneuver areas. I now work for an international company doing regional routes, home every weekend, and I feel like I can back into some really sketchy areas with little effort, and surprising myself with some of the backs I've had to do in a sleeper/van. When I worked LTL, all the training was done in single axle day cabs, with 28' pup trailers. The class started with backing up a dolly, and once we were able to maneuver those around, we went to the pups, and tested in the pups. Pulling doubles was probably my favorite. I feel going LTL first can be great to get the skills to back into a variety of difficult docks, you're backing 10-25 times a day into different docks to do deliveries/pickups. Money was decent too. Regional can be fun, but long, long hours, I'm running my clock to almost 14/day, money is fantastic for me. I do plan on buying my own truck some time in the future, but I want to learn more, and get more experience under my belt, and evaluate the freight market a little bit as right now, I'm hearing left and right it's over saturated, and not enough freight, or cheap freight. Keep your head up, focus on the road, don't let shit stress you out, when you're stressed, that's when bad shit starts happening. If your gut tells you you're going to hit something, then you're probably going to hit something. GOAL. Plan arrivals, this is one of the things I focus on the most before going to my next stop, PLAN YOUR ARRIVALS. you will have a much easier time if you familiarize yourself with the view on google maps, or trucker path, and you know where the truck entrance is at. I also run dual navigation. I have a Garmin Dezl OTR610 that I use for my main routing, and then trucker path to help in my arrival because they usually have the best spot for a truck entrance, and let you choose the entrance if need be. Be safe out there man, and you'll be just fine.

Quick heads up, IF you work at a warehouse, or an LTL company, from my experience, do not, and I repeat do NOT do the dock-to-driver program if they have it. You do not want to get stuck in a 2 year contract, or have to break it and pay 10k. Just go through the list of reputable truck driving schools, and choose the one that best fits you, and your needs. It'd be cheaper to do that, than break a contract, and you can also go to any company that will hire you. If you like your company, and would like to stick with it, then go for the d-t-d program, but from my experience, it may not be worth it.
@DoubleKlutch Never heard of that program. We have a bunch of different inside and outside carriers we use. I found one that I don't see here at work that seem nice and good. Cypress. They pay while they train me and then of course set me up to work with them. I just have to take the cdl written test and DOT physical first. So I'm leaning towards them because it seems like the transition over wouldn't be to rough financially.

🤔🤔 I don’t know what state this is, because it’s the first time I watch this video. But that old man, is the coolest instructor I’ve ever seen in my life😎. He even let you be recording while driving without having two hands on the steering wheel. Because here in New York 🗽 where I’m from, he would have told me straight out “come back another day” since I didn’t ENTER the truck the right way🤭😂😂. Oh yeah. Some of them are not to play with. I had to go back for my class B, just because I didn’t enter the truck the way he wanted and not the way I had been doing it for the past 10 years that I had been driving a 26 footer - 26,000 lbs. Which doesn’t require cdl. Only the air brakes endorsement 🥴😫. So there you have it. He sent me home within the first 5 seconds. And this guy even though you how start the truck. Amazing 👏👏👏👍💪✌️🙌.
Your check driver seems like a great person. Does he work for a trucking company, the Dmv ; or a driving school? Also congrats on passing your CDL testing 👏
Good job bro..i wish you all the best. i see so many brothers in this country who dont want to work. this job pays a lot of money. and you get to see the country
congrats, that's awesome! I knew that damn pre-trip back and forth until my test day! Then failed on air brakes. now 6 months later, and I still can't find a truck to test in.
@missg44 it sucks, and the way things worked out my school didn't open back up until 5 months later and now I'm stalling cause I'm in my head and feeling super nervous, even going back to the school is freaking me out.now I understand all those people my teacher talked about that failed and never came back to retest, it's nerve-racking. I'm about to need to redo my permit in September so now my time is limited. not to mention I'm gonna have to pay a loan back at some point and that's gonna hurt if I'm not working yet. I really wish there was a truck at the DMV just in case you don't have access to one - I would have probably done it by now. no one wants to lend out their trucks (and themselves) around here, even if I pay them. Good luck and I hope you get yours soon!
My job in 2010 paid for the class B test but wouldnt let me get the class A. I failed the class B the first time in a group of people from my work who all tested that day and most of them passed and I felt like shit but I got it the 2nd time around about 2 weeks later. Then in 2016 I went and upgraded to a class A. I took the test in a 10 speed manual trans and I passed 1st time but I didnt think it was entirely easy lol. For anyone who has failed and is struggling to get their CDL, dont give up, stay focused and you will eventually pass the test.
One thing I’ve learned is always take your test in a manual, cause then you can drive both. But if you get your CDL on an automatic. You won’t be allowed to drive a manual

@@jsimmons6837 thanks man. I’ll be sure to comment back here once I do obtain it. I’ve been longing to turn my life around. I’m 28 and finally found my sense of direction, and it all will begin with trucking. Im anxious to get out of NYC. This place is a dump
I drove for 5yrs got to see all 48 states and Canada. My advice is Just always think SAFETY first-SAFETY first and always get down a million times if necessary and ALWAYS be alert when getting behind that wheel! Its a big weapon your driving so always think safety! Thanks be to God that in my 5yrs experience I never had an accident; however I saw many many accidents involving big trucks and four wheelers. Congrats🎉and STAY SAFE N ALERT ALWAYS
I was sitting high like that when I first started too lol. When you get more comfortable you’re going to lower your seat a little more. Not to mention driving like that for long periods of time but more strain on your legs and foot
I be feeling like I can’t see when it’s low
@@KhariLoaded lol I was the same way. Salute on getting your cdl man I wish I would’ve got mine a little younger. You’re going to love it on the road. Have fun and take your time. Don’t ever let other drivers rush you when you’re backing and save your money 💪🏾
For sure! Thanks man🤘🏾
I sit with 0 air in the chair. Don't like the bouncing, had it mess me up once. Bounced on the brake and almost locked em up! 😂
😂
I'm getting my CDL soon for my new job. A little different because we don't pull trailers, so easier but man am I nervous (but excited). Watching other people around my age do it makes me feel more confident. Thanks bro, keep getting that money!!
Also ours are automatic too. No idea why everyone is hating on you because your company doesn't pay for training you aren't going to use.
Goodluck my guy! It’ll be a breeze! Thanks🤘🏾🤘🏾
Congrats man. Good luck on that road and stay safe out there
Thanks bro🤘🏾
That’s my instructor at the driving school I went to! And thanks
Hey
I wanna be your friend
@@alexsandra002 That sounds great. I love making new friends ☺️
I’am going for my Cdl a permit and I’am glad that I have found this valuable information and I just scribed
Hey man, I start my CDL program in 2 weeks, any advice? Anxious and excited at the same time
So how did it go?
Congratulations young man and keep up great work!
Thanks! I’m in grind mode!
2:03 bro definitely sniffed hand from @ss😯
Damn sholl did don’t shake his hand 😂😂😂
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🍀 😇 🙏
That's just the beginning 👏👏 I remember graduating my CDL school in 2000 🚛🚛🚛🚛
Before I was born
Impressive. Congratulations 🎉❤. We are proud of you 🎈💕🎉❤
Mr. Melvin is too cool! Much Respect!
Good job bro..i wish you all the best. i see so many brothers in this country who dont want to work. this job pays a lot of money. and you get to see the country
Thanks🤘🏾
congrats, that's awesome!
I knew that damn pre-trip back and forth until my test day! Then failed on air brakes. now 6 months later, and I still can't find a truck to test in.
You’ll get it man🤘🏾
Same here the air break test
@missg44
it sucks, and the way things worked out my school didn't open back up until 5 months later and now I'm stalling cause I'm in my head and feeling super nervous, even going back to the school is freaking me out.now I understand all those people my teacher talked about that failed and never came back to retest, it's nerve-racking.
I passed my second time, I drove a Manuel. And yeah once you know the basics, it’s a pretty straightforward job.
If the instructor is chillin like that after your good driver 😂💪🏽
Congrats man. I just recently aquire my CDL'S Monday. EZ money.
Oh shout out to Baltimore Sysco and Sysco Metro New York for the opportunity!!!
Yes sir 🤜🏾congratulations bro 💪🏾 keep them vids coming
Thanks bro! For sure!!
Congratulations King!
Thanks🤘🏾
Happy for u young fella and welcome to the road
Thanks!!
Just found this stay focus and keep grinding brother ✊🏿 you on your way to become very successful definitely inspiring
Super congrats king!🎯💯🎯💯
My job in 2010 paid for the class B test but wouldnt let me get the class A. I failed the class B the first time in a group of people from my work who all tested that day and most of them passed and I felt like shit but I got it the 2nd time around about 2 weeks later. Then in 2016 I went and upgraded to a class A. I took the test in a 10 speed manual trans and I passed 1st time but I didnt think it was entirely easy lol. For anyone who has failed and is struggling to get their CDL, dont give up, stay focused and you will eventually pass the test.
Making me wanna get out here and do it too as a young guy myself thank you so much for the inspiration broadie 🎉🖤
Congratulations Man!!!!💯👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾😎
Thanks🤘🏾
Great job I am very proud of you young man. 🎊
Congratulations! I was in class but got kicked out because I had a suspension on my license. That was in 2020 so now I'm ready again.
Thanks! Go get it now!
Proud of you bro congratulations 👏
Good stuff man. Congratulations!
One thing I’ve learned is always take your test in a manual, cause then you can drive both. But if you get your CDL on an automatic. You won’t be allowed to drive a manual
Can't wait to start my course, have to wait till my college get the funds to pay for it. Congrats on passing man!
thanks!
@@KhariLoaded no problem
congrats and thanks for recording so we can see. Bless
Congratulations bro I’m trying to get my cdl too , I’m saving a little bit of money for the permit test and class
Stay focused on it! Thanks!
@@KhariLoaded how much did you spend on driving school you think itll be better to work for a company for a while but they are able to pay for training/school?
