Thank you Denise for taking the time to make this video. I cooked my first crock pot turkey yesterday for Christmas dinner and it turned out GREAT! I followed your recipe except I substituted 1 teaspoon of each dry herb for the 1 tablespoon of each fresh herb that you used. I struggled a little with spreading the herb butter on the turkey. I should have dried the turkey better and maybe have the butter softer. I referred back to your video throughout the day to make sure I was doing everything correct. After slow cooking for 9 hours on low, the turkey was so moist and full of flavor and it sliced really well. Quite possibly the best turkey I have ever had. This is the only way I am going to cook turkey from now on. Thanks again and have a great new year!
@@georgeterbush2976 Thank you so much. I’m glad all turned out well for you.
That herb butter looks amazing! I like the idea of roasting the turkey on a bed of onions and garlic, too.
Thanks so much sharing, Mrs. Denise. Your turkey looks delicious! Lord willing, I am going to try my hand at making a turkey breast in my crockpot this year!!
I always find your videos so calming. Your voice is soothing.
Thanks for the spoon under the skin trick.😃
Thank you for the detailed instructions. I think I might try this for the holiday. ❤
Looks delicious! Thank you for showing how to do it from start to finish!
Thank you for making this look so simple, and appetizing. Thank you for sharing this wonderful looking meal❤!!!
I always season and add butter under the skin of my Turkey too. I plan on cooking a Turkey breast in the slow cooker this year too. I will put it in the oven like you did too. Looks nice and brown and good.
I thank you for helping me make up my mind about what and how to cook a turkey breast for Thanksgiving Day 😋 👏🏽 Looks great ❤️
You've convinced me to cook the turkey in my crockpot this year. The butter with all those nice fresh herbs looked delicious! Your finished turkey looked so good. Thank you so sharing. Happy Thanksgiving.
PTL D…good job; slow cooker recipe is perfect. Thanks for sharing; looks delicious 💯💌!
Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks!
You are a GREAT cook! Thank you for sharing your information!
Looks delicious 😋
❤ Looks So Good Thanks For The Recipe
It was totally delicious. Send me a picture if you tried it.
We have turkey at Christmas in my country. I'm grateful for your tips in this video, and will be trying them out next week.
.
We've bought a saddle of turkey or a turkey crown for quite a few years, as a whole turkey seems a waste just for 3 of us.
Merry Christmas / Seasons Greetings to you and your loved ones 🌟
Brilliant! I’m going t do this at Christmas. Thank you!
Give it a try and send me a picture. I’d love to see it and share it on my community page.
What a great idea wow thank you 🙏 I’m so glad your video showed up in my feed D
Wow I’ve never saw garlic sliced that way 😊
Thank you for this video. I learn something every single time we meet! May I ask...were you ever a Home Economics teacher? You are a great teacher.
Hahaha! No. I taught nursing for over 30 years. Retired now.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Your crockpot/ oven turkey < came out beautifully! 🙏🏽🦃💐💐
Yes indeed. The turkey breast came out beautifully and tasted delicious.
Thanks the Turkey Breast was amazing! Easy to do and will never go back!
Your kitchen is sooo impeccably clean❤❤ love your recipe and presentation! Gonna try this tonight ❤ cheers from the caribbean!
That's very sweet of you to say! As you probably already know, it’s a continuous process. I'm so glad you're trying this recipe. Let me know how it works out for you.
That Turkey looked so good along with that gravy
Very nice idea❤🎉 Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Looks great and I appreciate the gravy too
You’re welcome! This recipe always turns out perfectly. And the gravy is so easy.
Thank you so much for emphasising the importance of washing your hands in between whatever you are doing , when you are preparing any poultry.
Thank you. And not just poultry. Any raw meat.
Thank you for this recipe it sounds delicious. I love you presentation you have a very nice voice it’s a pleasure listening to you.
Thank you so much
Thanks for this turkey breast recipe. No one eats dark meat, so I usually do 2 breasts in a roaster. But if we have a smaller group, it sure would be easier using a crock pot and not dragging out the big electric roaster. A neighbor with double ovens thinks they're a waste...sure could have used one over the years!
@@terryruiz7417 I love dark meat
@@terryruiz7417 send the dark meat my way. I would be more than happy to take care of that for you.
Awesome great video and recipe. I have been cooking my turkey in the crook pot for several years now. I always used the crock pot bags. I let the leftovers cool tie the bag and toss it. (That makes life easier for me.) But I never put the turkey in the oven like that. I will try it this year. Have you ever tried Honey Butter on your turkey? A friend said it is great. I'm not sure about it. Many thumbs up to you. I truly hope you have a blessed Holiday.
Thomas…I’ve not tried honey butter but when I roast a turkey in the oven I glaze it with honey. Hmmmm. I’ll try the honey butter under the skin and see how that works. It sounds lovely. Thank you for stopping by. Yes…do put that turkey breast in the broiler but keep an eye on it. Put it 12 inches below the broiler and just 3 to 5 minutes in the broiler under your eagle eye. Let me know how it turns out.
@@homemakingwithdenise Thank you so much for responding to my post. Yes, I will let you know how my turkey turns out. Please do a video on the honey butter. I look forward to it. I just found your channel, and I like it and you. I will be watching your future videos. I truly hope you and your family have a blessed Holiday. God bless you all.
I’ve bought the turkey breast taken the two halves for breaded cutlets and the carcass for turkey soup. Three different dinners for about $7.00! Your recipe looks delicious but my husband likes dark meat.💙👍🏼😋
$7 gosh over here in UK a Turkey Crown as we call it costs £28 frozen and £75 if fresh. I am like you, make the bird do , hot, cold, curry, soup, and flan.
Not a cook, meat/or poultry eater, but i like watching you cook, and your food looks so good. I pass your recipes on to friend,s who do cook. Subscribed. Panama here
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kindness and hope these recipes bless your friends.
Thanks for sharing your recipe. Is there any reason why you kept the peel in the onions and garlic. Are there any nutritional benefits for doing so?!
Edit: Welp! I just did a google search and read- “The outer skins of onion and garlic provide an excellent source of vitamins A, C, E, and numerous antioxidants”
Fabulous. 🇨🇦💁♀️
We attended Thanksgiving at someone else’s house and so I bought Turkey breast to have at home for ”leftovers”. Thanks so much for this great recipe in the slow cooker; I will be cooking the breast this week.
PS: love your Bee Kind apron!
Corgi Mom, thank you. Bee Kind encourages just that…for people to be kind. When you cook your turkey breast, send me a picture. I’d love to share it on my Community Page.
Purchased turkey and pork sleeves of flavored meat. Yes! That flavoring is great!
Those slow cooker baking bags save cleanup. They are quite roomy. I love using those bags.
Ms.Denise, I LOVE your apron. I wanted that one from JoAnn too but didn't want to pay the original asking price. It went on clearance but I missed buying it & returned & it was gone! Looks too cute on you. Found your channel a month or so ago & quickly subbed. You offer GREAT tips. I pass your vids on to others. Keep em coming!
That looks amazing, Denise!
It was! And the skin was nice and crisp!
Ms. Denise, I am newly married! Can you do a homemaking bootcamp or homemaking basic for new wives
I can. Let me put some thought into this. Question…what kind of things do you want to learn and what form do you want the learning to take?
@ That would be amazing! A few things that come to mind is smart grocery shopping, budgeting, time management, home management, cleaning tips, mindset how to remain grateful and positive
Im not newly married, but im always keen to learn any tips and tricks in the kitchen. The idea of a kitchen boot camp sounds great to an old hand in the kitchen that needs a mental (and culinary) reset! @homemakingwithdenise
Hi Ms Denise- Another way to get a darker gravy is to cook your roux (flour & fat) a little longer. This is how they get a dark brown roux for gumbo. You just have to be mindful of constantly stirring until you get your desired color AND never walking away.
Ummm…yeah! That’s my problem. I get distracted and the next thing I know…scorched roux. Or I get impatient and want to move on to the next step. Hahaha! I’ll remember your tip and share it. Thank you.
@@sher-at-home a trick I learned from my mom was a sprinkle or two of instant coffee will add a darker color and flavor as well.
For turkey sandwiches the following days😊 or make a plate of food for each of your dinner guests to bring home.
This is the 1st time I've cooked a turkey breast actually it's now cooking I'm about to check during my cleaning and washing of it if I missed the packet you pulled out of it because I didn't see one inside mine!
All turkey breast’s don’t have them. They will come with or without the gravy packet. If you didn’t see one, you’re good.
@homemakingwithdenise lol I did go back and check no gravy packet but it was wonderfully delicious and moist I used the slow cooker bags. When it was done I made gravy with it's drippings. The next one I'll use your recipe. Mine was already in the pot when I came across your video.
When I was first married , my first Christmas, my first Turkey, I cooked this bird with the giblets inside, I had no idea that it contained giblets. We all survived.
@@bernadettec6386 lol
I thought my gravy packet was a packet of blood and tossed it😅 hahaaa ah well. From scratch gravy it is!
Looks glorious.
I must admit…it was delicious.
Paying close attention!
Crumbs that is a bargain. Here in the UK I have just paid £28 for a frozen Turkey Crown and that was cheap, the fresh ones are £75 upwards. Well done for the video. Edited to add the word frozen.
I've been using my slow cooker at holidays for a long time. In recent years I bought a few chicken breasts rather than turkey.. Dissolved one packet of turkey gravy mix in two cups of water, adding two good splashes of marsala wine. All this went into an oval crockpot---the gravy seasons the poultry, the alcohol cooks off and the meat turns out moist. My leftovers take care of meals for the few nights
Oh my goodness. This recipe sounds really good. You’re right. We don’t have to do turkey to have a holiday meal.
The chicken is so good too. My big issue with turkey is it's always overbrined----so much so the meat is salty with a baking soda aftertaste. Hypertension also runs in my family which is another reason to be extra careful.
Can i do a thigh and leg quarter at the same time as 2 breast quarters? Thanks
I should think so. Just keep the weight under 4 1/2 pounds. That’s the maximum weight recommended. Put the breast side down first and turn them all when needed. Be sure to measure the temperature.
I try to avoid the breast it's always WAY OVERCOOKED!
Thanks for this recipe. I had hoped to use a small turkey this year. But I must admit, most of the ones that are put out taste old & freezer burnt. It's really hard finding fresh. I'm thinking of using a roasting chicken instead of turkey.
Hahaha! We got you covered. Ms Leona made a roasting chicken just the other day. It looks amazing. Heres the link: ruclips.net/video/x6CN8iWRyJQ/видео.htmlsi=sTfatRxapKuC9yPA. I’m roasting a chicken today for Sunday dinner in the air fryer! I hope to post it Saturday. Do checkout Ms Leona’s recipe.
Do you add any liquid to the bottom of the cooker before turkey goes in?
No. The turkey will make its own liquid but you do set the turkey atop the onions and garlic. That helps create liquid.
Thankyou 😊@@homemakingwithdenise
What and how much liquid did you use?
No liquid added to the crockpot. Just the onion and garlic on the bottom to raise the turkey breast up and the juices cooked and some ran from the turkey.
Thank you
I found Shady Brooks turkey breasts at .99/lb at Stop and Shop. Butterball was $5.99/lb.
No liquid?
Oh I see the drippings!
No. It makes its own broth.
🍽🎉😊🦃
Did you not know he was coming in at that time. Family should come before videos!
I agree. I try to get any filming done when he’s out so I don’t inconvenience him. I can only ask him to be on mute for so long. However, sometimes, by the time I get things ready, he;s back. He’s pretty good about it, though. Doesn’t complain often.
In illinois the average price for these turkey breast's will be around $3.69/lb
And that's precisely why I couldn't buy one. They're all so big too. I want poultry for a few days and no more.
I have a feeling I’ve watched this video some time ago already!?
@@Seven.7556 she did show parts of it on trader Joe's video but this one is showing all the other steps that she left off
Yes…I did show parts of this but in this video, I wanted to drill down on preparing the turkey breast without the distraction of the grocery haul.
Wow! That's only the breast?! Why does anybody ever need the whole turkey with that much meat on the breast alone? But, I guess turkey wings and legs are also great.
You know, a turkey breast works well for a large group but like you said…there are those who like dark meat which has a completely different flavor. Those pieces, like the wings and legs make great tasting soups.
Just wear gloves..nice recipe!
You know, I just never have. I wash hands a lot!
Oh my gosh. I bet that turkey breast was delicious.
And it was delicious. And so easy to do. What have you made in the slow cooker recently?
