SIMON (14) started singing in a children's choir in a nearby city. At the age of eight he was admitted as a member of the Kampen Boys Choir. Simon is one of the main soloists of the choir and he also is one of the two Deputy Head Choristers. In addition to singing, he likes to play the piano. Simon is a big fan of (choir)music from the Renaissance, in particular music by da Palestrina. He also loves Baroque music. After summer holidays of 2020 he will go to Gymnasium 4.
NICOLAAS (14) started singing with the Kampen Boys Choir at the age of six.
He also often sings solos and is the head deputy of the boys. In addition to English choral music, Nicolaas is very fond of music from the Renaissance and Baroque. He often listens music by Bach, Buxtehude, Schütz and Monteverdi. He is a big fan of soprano Griet de Geyter and tenor Daniel Johannsen. In addition to singing, Nicolaas plays the harpsichord, enjoys traveling and is interested in politics. After summer holidays Nicolaas goes to Gymnasium 3

Lovely performance. They say that boys' voices break earlier and earlier these days. So it's lovely that these fine young singers still have their high notes at 14. My own voice changed when I was their age.

My voice changed on my 18th birthday. I was very upset, but that was over 40 years ago.

@@revjonathan3166 I can understand how upsetting it was for you considering how fortunate you were to have it so long. I hadn't sung in my school choir for a year when my voice changed. It didn't so much break as slip gently down. I only noticed when I went to sing a piece and the high notes weren't there anymore. It left me feeling very sad.

Wel Nicolaas en Simon - dit is toch wel heel wat beter (voor mij althans) dan N & S. haha! Jullie bewandelen een wat interessanter muzikaal / cultureel pad. Heb ervan genoten. Natuurlijk is het triest je treble te zien verdwijnen, maar het is net als de jeugd, alles gaat voorbij, niets blijft. Maar.... deze opname wél. En daarom is het voor jullie (en voor ons) een waardevol document voor later. Deze opname is nu bijna 4 jaar geleden, maar alsnog proficiat beiden. Ik zie en hoor net een nieuwe opname van Nicolaas met gevorderde stem. Alle treble voices moeten weer hun draai vinden, maar dat lukt je dus best! Succes.
