      +Dirty 10r (ZX10R) i find it funny how some people like the ducati and others complain ( mainly for roasting their testicles)

      +BommbasticPL in my opinion Ducati's always been different from other bikes, and that what should be, Italian, experience and different feel
      That's why some people like it others don't

      Its my opinion mate. I would be happy with any of these bikes. For sure I wouldn't extract all the power and eletronics they have because I'm just a regular driver looking for some fun. Btw, the 600s are the greatest for this kind of public. Hugs!

      +Pedro Fontes It really comes down to which one looks best as far as design and ergonomics. I think the ZX10R looks best but the Ducati, BMW and R1 can hold their own too.

    • @pedrofontes9780

      I would choose the most confortable since I'm going to ride it most on steets and all of them have 190+hp + full eletronic package.

    So the winner of the 2016 1000cc shoot out is a 1299cc, wow who would have thought that. Shame someone wrecked the clutch on the Aprilia RSV4RF whilst road riding, how ? I have owned a Ducati 1199 Tricolore S for almost 3 years now sold and have owned 3 Aprilia RSV4's since 2010, my latest is the RF. I also have a 2016 ZX10R and have ridden the new R1 and S1000RR. To me the Ducati is the most unreliable, uncomfortable bike around town, I have owned. The Ducati is pretty but high maintenance and to me not the best in this group.

      +Stan Radley I don't know if you have ridden one but the 1299 is a major improvement over the 1199. It fixed or improved every issue with the 1199.

    • @puttputt1992
      @puttputt1992 8 лет назад

      +Donovan “twowheel_D” Lewis by throwing more money at it and giving it a bigger engine. This shouldn't be able to compete in the test on the grounds that it can't compete against the others alone. For WSB and any other racing they have to use the 1199.

    • @donovanlewis7142
      @donovanlewis7142 8 лет назад

      +puttputt1992 Except its the bike they actually put out on the street and its the bike consumers are able to buy. Which is is what this test is about. The bike you can actually go and buy.

      @puttputt1992 8 лет назад +2

      +Donovan “twowheel_D” Lewis consumer can go and buy a H2, doesn't mean you add it into a scooter comparison. This is about the litre sports category, which the 1199 just about fits in. The 1299 doesn't.

    The Panigale R is at the absolute bottom of my list. It's certainly not as comfortable as any of the bikes it competed with, PFFFFFFFFFFFFFT. Otherwise, good review. it's not a wsb bike out off the box isit? but at the end off the day i feel the zx10r was totally overlooked in your test. also I can't believe it was 2+ seconds off the pace in the race track test. this years superstock bike too be on will be the new zx10r as it was last year because pound for pound and performance wise it's pretty much unstoppable. I seriously don't believe the 10r was given a opportunity too show its true protencial in your test in fact your test has been the only negative test I've seen for the new zx10r. every other journalist has given it a rave review true too it's potential....

    • @neevesybikes
      @neevesybikes 8 лет назад +9

      +Nick Guy show me another comparison test where they've said that, Nick. We gave the ZX-10R every chance, why wouldn't we? I was as excited about it as anyone. It's too long geared in standard trim and the ABS is too intrusive. Make a few changes, like in superstock and it would be brilliant, but we're testing road bikes out of the box. I'm running a new ZX-10R this year, so we'll see how it goes. I see from your profile pic that you might be a bit biased, though... Neevesy MCN

      +Nick Guy I wonder how the gearing spread is. My ZX6R suffers from very tall low gears but not that tall high gears... so when you gear it down enough that 1st and 2nd are great, 6th is really too low. An annoying compromise stemming from a track focused design.

    I still like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. It's just like you guys said that all of these bikes offer more power than an individual would ever need on the street, so it does not really matter which is the best in all of these categories but, rather, which one satisfies the consumer's personal preferences. I do not see a reason to argue in the comment section because of this. In retrospect, this whole test with these men opinions and reports mean absolutely nothing. The real, honest reason anyone watches these tests, first rides, and reviews is to see his/her favorite bike in motion and to see how it stacks up to the competition (mainly for showing off/ego fullfiling points).

      +YourTypicalGeek Ey guys, I own the '16 ZX10, and my housemate owns the '15 S1K. I can tell you now, the ZX10 runs cooler than any of these. While commuting I average 76 degrees celcius when the S1k is at 100+. If heat is a problem for you, have a look and test of the ZX.

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 лет назад +1

      +Miles Turton Thanks for that, I had assumed that was the case with my experience of the last generation ZX. I didn't find the S1000RR brutal or anything but this is good information to have if you live in... say, Texas. For the record, the new RSV4 RR/RF is considerably cooler than my 2013 Factory was. There's a bit of magic there, to put down 20whp more power and generate less heat...

    You're contradicting yourselves two times in this video. Firstly, for the road test you said that 2 bikes stood out: the Ducati and the R1 (which is strange considering how infamously uncomfortable and track oriented the bike is), but then later for the R1's drawbacks, you said it wasn't very comfortable on the road.
    Also the only "flaw" of the BMW you mentioned was that it wasn't "polished" whatever that meant... The bike had 2nd best track time, and you sang praises for the road portion of the BMW test, and yet it's behind R1.
    I get that in the end it all comes down to subjective opinions on the bikes, but work on your arguments at least.

    • @lukedurban9150
      @lukedurban9150 8 лет назад

      +neevesybikes still doesn't change the results, R1 uncomfortable not a great road bike... S1000RR comfortable great road bike... R1 an 'awesome' track bike S1000RR on that day a better track bike (or at least a faster one) Yes i know different tracks will give different results but surely you have to base your finding for this group test on the tests you did in that time period? but its all opinions
      1. S1000RR
      2.1299S
      3.R1
      4.ZX10R
      5.RSV4 (for obvious reasons)

    • @neevesybikes
      @neevesybikes 8 лет назад

      +Luke Durban it's all explained in MCN, Luke.

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 лет назад +1

      +Luke Durban Like you say, opinions differ. If I were riding on the street, I'd rate
      1. RSV4
      2. S1000RR
      3. Panigale
      4. ZX10R / R1 tie
      The S1000R has to rate high because of its creature comforts and overall roominess, whereas the RSV4 and Panigale are far and above more interesting to ride than it, but the Pani *FOR ME* is a bit tough to love on the street in terms of comfort. The two others, well... I'd pick the R1 over the ZX10R if it didn't look like a catfish with bolted-on chinese parts, and the ZX10R .. OK I take that back, make the ZX10R #4.
      For track I'd rate them...
      1. RSV4
      2. R1
      3. ZX10R
      4. S1000RR
      5. Panigale
      The RSV4 won World SuperStock and just has no weaknesses on track, the front end balance being key. R1 is a pip behind it and doesn't look like such a bag of atrophy in track trim (not to mention the GYTR ecu improvements). The ZX10R has a load of potential and I am taking a gamble here but I believe it would be both quicker and less expensive than the S1000RR in race trim. The new S1000RR has proven reliable and fast in its current trim, but it's $pendy and ultimately a bit more road-focused in this group. The Panigale is last for two reasons: the 1299 engine takes it out of most racing classes, and the cost of racing/tracking a Ducati is painful. But if it was just for track days / enjoyment, place it 2nd!!
      So uhm... just my opinions. As for defending my choice of RSV4 in both lists, it's as simple as this: I've voted with my own dollars twice. Aprilias have been good to me, parts are not overly expensive and the combination of chassis / motor in the RF is just stunning. It's not the most comfortable on the road, nor the most user-friendly but you always know you are riding a fire-breathing superbike, much like the Panigale... whereas the inline-4s (even the R1 to a point) leave me cold when I'm not riding hard... which for me pips the S1000RR's creature comforts simply because I ride the street for enjoyment, not long trips or commuting.
      Like others have said on this video however, the best bike to ride is the one you have the keys to...

  • @robertbchase
    @robertbchase 8 лет назад +9

    Not sure I really follow the logic of your tests results here MCN. The BMW had the 2nd fastest time faster than the R1 and you say it's a better road bike because the R1 is so track focused. Yet it's in 3rd place behind a bike that posted slower times? Last year of course since you stacked the deck in Yamaha's favor using a tight handling oriented circuit the R1 was the fastest bike. I used to really consider you guys to be an unbiased source of good information. With inconsistent and politically motivated test results I'm not so sure that's the case anymore. Please review the bikes not which companies checks make you smile the most.

      well listen man. This year Honda's fireblade is back on the podium without a single update, and we both know that many of these bikes, including the ducati, are technologically superior to it. I'd give it my best judgment to say that rider opinions weigh in heavily here, and it's not like it's some kind of dichotomous scenario where two bikes are facing off for glory like the last 3-4 years of world superbike have been. I'd say that we have to recognize that rider opinions vary far and wide, and in this particular instance, they just found that ducati was their overall victor. I'll be honest with you, I'm a diehard Ducati fan and my judgment is probably a little biased towards it, but that doesn't stop me from recognizing that the Race ECU kit on the ZX-10R produced 2 more bhp at the crank than Ducati's engine, ya see what I'm saying? I'm honestly surprised the ZX-10, R1 and RSV4 aren't running off with the title like they always do.

    To all you people bitching and moaning - just like car reviews, there is obviously a ton of user bias. Everyone likes different things for different reasons. That's what test rides are for - any decent dealer will let you take a bike for half a day if you're serious about buying it. Not only is it fun, but you can make up your own mind and buy a bike that suits YOUR riding style. Think of them like women (or guys if you're a girl / into that) - you might think it's a 3 but your pal might think it's a 10. Test ride the one ya like and keep it if it fits the bill :)

      +Darwin Allen A lot of truth in what you say. So many variables. Reviews should try and be impartial as much as possible, and just try and describe the bikes clearly. But what you want, or will like, depends massively on what you want use the bike for. If you want a track weapon, then you have to remember that you will probably end up changing loads of stuff anyway, making the bike quite different to what's being reviewed. Even comfort is highly subjective, as everyone is a different size and weight . Perhaps the most useful aspects of reviews are things like reliability, costs, technical specs and details, and niggling issues etc.
      Unless a bike really is a complete dog, or a complete star (1998 R1, remember!?!), don't take reviews too seriously.

      +Darwin Allen The voice of reason! I was on this test and there isn't a bad bike amongst them. For such similar bikes they're all very different, and that makes them appeal to different people for different reasons - you are 100% right in what you say about test riding them being the way forwards if you planned to buy one. Failing that they're all so good that you could pick one of these based on nothing more than your favourite colour and you wouldn't be disappointed! But with all that said, as winners go, the Ducati was easy to pick because it's a proper riders bike, it feels like it's alive and it's utterly glorious.

      +Visorvision UK The part that annoyed me the most is the complaints about "euro4 enforced 5kilo weight gain"
      if it's euro enforced, all the other bikes have it, And the first two things anyone will change on a bike, will shave off over 5kg...
      just saying.
      However, i do understand the end result.
      I just wish you'd counted bang for buck into it, if you had, the kawi would have done much better.

    Nice to see a controlled comparison, but I really don't like the footage. I understand that there are quite a number of bikes and the video is short, but slightly epileptic shots being thrown in all the time with some speaking in between doesn't really do it for me. The track portion of the test was slightly better though.

    By the way, another thing journalists never focus on is which manufacturers stand behind their bikes the best. In terms of factory warranties, BMW provides a three-year factory warranty on the RR in the US. Aprilia and Ducati are two years. Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha only offer one year warranties. With all of the high tech electronics and rider aids coupled with such hyper performance engines, factory warranties are critical for anyone who wants to own one of these bikes longer than 12 months.

    It's crazy the difference in opinions between reviews. In a separate review the Ducati was said to be horrendous on the road because it was so jerky, nervous and the heat problem could make you borderline infertile. I don't know who to believe!

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 лет назад

      +NickLiang It can be all of those things. It depends on the road, how hot the day is, and what your personal style is. I would not want to be on one in 35C+ weather unless I was on an open road, I can say that. But then, you could say that of all of them, the S1000RR and RSV4 frame rails will get hot pretty quickly and the giant, ugly, bulbous monstrosity of a converter attached to the right footpeg on the R1 is like a space heater. Not sure of the new ZX10R. I do not find the Aprilia or the last generation ZX10R to be unlivable as I have sampled both in hot weather... S1000RR was but I was locked in the pits idling for a few minutes on that bike.

    People say Ducati's cheating cause of the bigger CCs but forget that it only has 2 cylinders

    • @tedsantiago4505
      @tedsantiago4505 7 лет назад

      Well technically they still are kind of 'cheating'. Look at the World Superbike Championships, 1000cc for 4cyl, 1100cc for 3cyl and 1200 for 2cyl for different engine configurations to make around the same amount of power. So technically this Duc will obviously make more power than the compition since its 100cc higher than it should be. Hence why the official Ducati team that races at WSBK is the 1199 and not the 1299.

    • @BTrain-is8ch
      @BTrain-is8ch 7 лет назад

      The Panigale R and the 1299S make the same peak power although the R uses more revs to get there. The 1299 makes a shade more torque. That's what the extra CCs get you.
      Even if MCN had brought a Panigale R people would be complaining about its price tag. Realistically their complaints aren't about the displacement.

Everyone knows what they are capable of with their MotoGP bikes. I think if they did a V-4 in the price range of the Kawasaki it would be a hit. You get the dealership network of Honda with that special character and something-something from a V-4 that is pretty much only being done by the Italians. They need to do something soon though because everyone else is throwing out some pretty cool stuff. Wonder if it has anything to do with their leadership changing to a guy who came from being known for making their minivans.

    I tested a new R1 on the weekend and was not impressed. The throttle is choppy, its really stiff on the road and makes no HP until 7K. The brakes are rubbish. Sure it would be much better on the track but like everyone I spend 85% of my time on the road. I was lucky enough to test the S1000RR on the track and was blown away. I have an 08 CBR and a ZX10 track bike and the BMW was great. Awesome brakes, the DDC kept the bike really stable through high speed and low speed cnrs. The quick shifter up and down is great. Monster top end and sounds like something out of formula 1

    • @ShamanWS6
      @ShamanWS6 8 лет назад

      +rogase68 Yep, and you'd probably lose your shit over the RSV4 or the 1299 if you rode them, too. I agree with your assessment of the R1 but here in North America it's even worse for choppy throttle and goes mental around 9,000 when it finally starts to make power.
