The point Simon's making is look at what United can do without winning anything Pretty much 90 odd% of what City bring in when they win pretty much everything and at a time when the prize pool wasn't as big either..That's the point of the revenue talk.
Prize money and stadium tickets really don't add revenue,, TV Rights and commercial income tho... And if United were to have control of their own TV Rights they'll blow away everyone
Yes but that’s down to United not being good enough to win things, both go hand in hand
@@chrisseel5838 No it isn't. It's strictly business. United brought in 627m wining zero. Man City 650m winning everything.
@@tonyh8965 they had nearly 30 years winning everything though.
Rubbish - the difference between 1st and 2nd (&then to third etc) in the epl is only 2m! The fa and league cups are small beer. Champs league is the big differentiator in prize money earned, particularly between whether you are in or out of it. Once in it, the differences are circa 10-50m dependent on how far you get, so again across all comps the prize money difference for second vs winning is circa 60m in total, even adjusting for the fact city win lots of stuff and united don’t City’s revenue is still higher. That’s because the Man City commercial team is years ahead of uniteds in terms of its professionalism and intellectual firepower. This discrepancy in citys favour is also duplicated in the manager, in the senior management team and in the owners! No surprises here I’m afraid, city is just a far better ran club. Simon given his background should really be able to understand that?
City Sponsorships?
You mean Abu Dhabi's shell companies like Wega with no staff, no active products and being run out of a mailbox in London.
A shady NFT, who would have thought? How did you determine the owners of Man City which is more than just the abudhabi group and not just another shady NFT/bit coin pyramid scheme?
Try not to cry too hard, please
If you think Simon's wrong on this, that's a shame, because he's not.
It doesn't matter if he's right or wrong, it doesn't make his argument any less pathetic.

I'm a City fan and I'm happy that we're still viewed by many as "little Citeh." Like some of the greats that came before us, we will need to have a sustained period of time where we dominate like LFC in the 1970s & 80s and like United in the 1990s, 2000s and early 2010s to be lauded as a "big club." The fact is, we are creating our own unique history and with every game we win, and every competition we conquer, we grow in size a little more. Will we get to that level iconography that Barca, Bayern, RM, MU and LFC occupy? Possible. But I don't really care if we ever do as I am just so pleased to be the thorn in all the big clubs' sides. May it long continue!

Us City fans, we don't care about being the BIGGEST club. We used to be the biggest laughing stock...the worst run club in football playing in the third tier as our neighbours won the treble. I was there in Dec '98 when we lost to Stockport. We didn't even own our club shop! Now we have owners who have invested in the club (another 300 million quid on the way for an stadium expansion with hotel and museum) and the surrounding area (houses, a college and a 25000 seater concert venue) and they have turned us into top dogs. The club studied the best practices around the world (Nike campus, Dallas Cowboys etc) and emulated them with distinction.
On the other hand, United have been pillaged for the last 17 years because they WERE the biggest club, with incredibly loyal fans. The clever ones knew where this was going and created FC United of Manchester which is commendable, good luck to them. Old Trafford is now a leaky rust bucket and United have a team littered with mercenaries. I would argue that Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world, their new stadium is as astounding as their trophy laden history.
The City group (13 clubs now) are on the rise and the blue shark won't stop until they are satisfied. We were the 1st Manchester team to win the FA Cup (1904) and we're also the last. A 3peat, a double and maybe the greatest prize in European football. What a time to be a blue.

The whole "big club" argument is complete garbage to be fair, as there is no official rules or set of requirements to be a "big club", it's just a catchphrase that's subjective to opinion.
Except it isn't....Manchester United are a club recognised and followed worldwide by millions of fans. Manchester City just aren't on the same level, they've only been relevant for the last 15 years. You wanna pretend these charges are false and city is being scapegoats. But you know as much as the rest of us your club is dirty like a mofo. 20 years from now all these players are gonna drop like Vialli, but what do you care as long as you win right?
@@wisped12 You do know City have already been charged and paid a fine? And other charges dropped because of time stamps.
There is no innocence in this you idiot 😂😂
United’s value at the moment is 2 billion😆CITY are here to stay playing their wonderful football
As an Arsenal fan, when there is a UTD game on I watch it because I want to see them get beat. I dont feel the same was about City or Chelsea. I feel nothing when I watch them. UTD are still the biggest club in England, because no matter how bad they get, or if you want to see them suffer, you always care about them. You cant buy that.
Twitter says different because every time City win all I see is millions of people crying about it.
That’s because you know City is going to more time than not.
yes felt nothing because arsenal is not relevant anyways.
Simon is is on point, you cannot compare city and utd
Man Utd/Liverpool's stronghold on UK fanbase and worldwide is based on achievements in 70's/80s (Liverpool) and 90's/00's (Man Utd) both made possible by outsourced wealth.
If Man City keep winning and dominating then they will eventually over take. Its simple supply and demand concept. With no actual reason to support a club, most people will choose to watch/support the superior/successful football offered.
More of a level playing field when Liverpool dominated English football.
@@dman9152 It wasn't tho. Liverpool had vastly more investment, than other clubs, and spent it on players other clubs couldn't afford to.
Its actually far more competitive now a days with several clubs spending vast sums on players.
Its not a coincidence that Liverpool's titles stopped when Moore's families wealth was impacted by the lottery and the investment stopped 😂😂.
@@chrismcgregor272 definitely was nottingham forest could get promoted and compete straight away
Liverpool have always been a sell to buy club
Sold keegan ,buy dalglish
Sold rush, buy Beardsley, barnes and Aldridge.
@@dman9152 Liverpool broke British transfer records consistently in the late 70's and through the 80's. You bought Rush back for a record 2.8m. You were backed by a rich benefactor (Moore's family) throughout your most successful period and then when they stopped backing you financially the trophies stopped.
Forest had Brain Clough in charge. Leicester won the PL with Ranieri in charge ffs.
You're talking fairytales. Forest situation was a one off like Leicester situation. Football domination and rich benefactor's has always been hand in hand. Football has never been an equal opportunity sport. The first division and PL have always been competed by teams with wealthy benefactors who invest more than others.
City will never ever take over..👍
Nike aren't necessary the best, but they have the biggest brand power in history
Simon - never satisfied like a selfish lover!
I’ve said it before, 20-30 years down the road? City may indeed become everything they’re striving for.
Right here and now? They’re not there yet.
They have been dominating for the last 5 years, or am I in a alternate universe
@@grsafranthey need to dominate another decade and gain more fans in England/Britain currently spurs has three times more fans than city😂
Spot on Simon
United had more revenue in a season they finished outside the top 4 and won nothing than City did in a season they got to the CL final and won the league. Still miles to go despite all the cheating.
dumb ignorant comment n so full of crap 💩
Go back to school
What have MU done lately. its 2024 right?
Comparing them them to red bull is an insult to red bull!
Simon, if City complete the treble on Saturday, then would that make them a "big club"? Because they've already matched United's three-peat; adding a treble on top of that in the same season would be a historic achievement.
United are the bigger club but I don't think that means City are small
It's not about matching one treble it's about a club as a whole. United have people talking about the Busby babes to this day and many teams after them
City have years to build that and when I say years I mean not in my life time (I'm 34) because beyond the city takeover where is their history? Shaun Goater?
He never said City are small. Do you understand the Ferrari reference?

@@craigjones8615 city’s history is the decade? Do you not get that? If they win the treble, in 25 years football will remember their dominance in the toughest league in the world and them being one of two English clubs in the premier league to win a treble. That sounds like history to me.
In 20 years
Jim “Are city NOW as attractive as Real Madrid when trying to attract players, are they on a level”
Simon “well we need to take into consideration it rains a lot in Manchester”
(You read that in there accents didn’t you 😂)
I don’t know why he’s so bitter, just won’t let city have 5 minutes. It is generational, and the generations are passing. In the 90’s United grew a huge base of glory hunting wet wipes. For the last ten years city have been doing the same. I have been this year alone to Brazil, Portugal, Denmark, Germany and seen lots of city tops, 15/20 years ago they would of been United tops. Things change.
Yes but city has a substantially smaller UK fanbase than spurs hence you can't be in the conversation with man utd, Liverpool or arsenal for a huge loyal uk fanbase, Yes those clubs have lots of foreign fans but not 95% which city has! When city sucess dries up after pep leaves only the loyal uk fanbase will remain with the club not the plastic shipjumpers!
@@mymemories925 city have a smaller fan base than spurs??? Your other points are valid but that’s nonsense. I would put serious money on city having a larger UK fan base than spurs currently. United didn’t have a country wide fan base before dominance, it comes with success, you would NEVER see city shirts on the street 10/20 years ago now it is common place. You don’t need to accept it, but it’s happening.
Simon - Man City were around long before we were purchased!! we are not manufactured. That's rude...
Your success is. The same group as Chelsea and PSG.
@@mattbarker5402 No it isn't - check the amounts spent... The success never arrived on day 1...

Arsenal fan here, although City are growing (115 FFP breaches considered) they have a long way to go to be considered an icon like Man United to the over 30’s generation at least
You mean over 40, MU don't win why would that attract more fans. It is legacy fans that care about MU
@@grsafran It's only been 10 years since United were good so it's not going to just be over 40's. 😂
Who cares about the size of a club? Honestly its such a dull and interesting topic. I don't support a team because its bigger than another team, its probably the most uninteresting topic in all of football.
Jordans Chicago Bulls are an iconic team even though they are nowhere today. City need the big pots in Europe and not just once, look how Many Liverpool and Real have. Utd dominated the premier league for 2 decades they are still a way from that. If they can go back to back in the CL win another 5 from 6 they will definitely be getting closer there will be a new generation of City fans but Simon is right to surpass those legendary teams will take more than just 10 years of sports washing success
This is probably the only time Simon Jordan was speaking sense and the one and only time I enjoyed watching talk sport while Jordan’s on 😂😂😂😂
"Big Club" discourse is pointless and will never end because there it fundamentally lacks meaning as a term. Completely vibes based and subjective
All i see is a big hater who failed at Crystal Palace
I doubt any city fans care about being considered ’bigger’ if they continue to be the better & more successful team as they have been for the past decade.
exactly like men thinking 2 much about their size
When women don’t really give a f**k
Simon just hates Arabs
I can confirm this makes me laugh as city fan, we literally dont care if you got more fans, we are hardly "small club" that's just an insult to city as that's all they can think of. Loads of city fans in Manchester and globally and we are all chill love the sport with what it brings highs and lows but when ever we hear. O fans in stadium or small club or oil money we just laugh and say go look at you club owners they church goers right? Soo sooo funny. Anyway we gotta treble to win so hate on that yall
Please get Goldbridge and Simon on together.
It's about history, which teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, ranger's, Celtic, real Madrid, Ajax, juventus, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and so on have, Manchester City are building their legacy but for them to be classed in the same breathe as the other clubs they have to have success over decades, not just a period of time, Chelsea was creating their legacy but it's stalled, what happens if the owners decide they have had enough and move on, we talk about the above teams because they have been winners since the 1950s, Manchester City was in the lower leagues whilst these teams was building legacies, so will take some time for them to be looked at in the same way
City are run with a model (CFG) that now means even if sheikh Mansour did decide to walk away they would generate huge interest from potential investors. They have made incredible strides to become one of, if not the most sustainable clubs in world football. City aren't just a club they spearhead a global group and aren't going anywhere anytime soon. This is what has petrified the established elite as their dominance has been and is now proven to be at threat and this is ultimately what they don't like and tried to stall for the last decade. Newcastle fans better be ready because they are coming for you next...
Where is Barca the 2nd biggest club itw
What makes you a big club is all about what you win. Man City are building their brand globally and if things continue like this for the next decade, they'll be well on top.
So why is Liverpool not bigger than United? Football is a business and winning things yes is an aspect of it.
@@geoffreywright9856 Liverpool used to be the outright biggest club in England until Man United went on an insane run of 13 PL titles while Liverpool was in ruins, Utd attracted more supporters home/globally. For 30+ years Liverpool couldn't win a single league title while Utd won 13.
It is on field success that makes a club a big global brand in football, and the elites knows that, that's why they're fighting City to stop them but they can't!
A Big club ? They didn't even fill wembley stadium!
Really who holds the record highest attendance ever at a home game ??? In the top flight history???????? Answer that ????
@Ian Rayson ??? Don't get your point the fact is you didn't fill Wembley at a fa cup final!
Man City aren’t a big club as in my area you don’t see Man City shirts about but you see the clubs Simon is talking about
City don't want to be utd, it's as offensive to us as it is to them.
There are lots of clubs that are called 'big' clubs and lots of reasons used (support base globally, support base locally, wealth, trophies) to justify that status. It's a bit of a nonsensical term to be honest, pissing in the wind comes to mind. Must be a slow day at talkSPORT if this is all they've got to talk about.
Simon is right. Kills the argument of Pep not managing a small club though doesn’t it? Can’t have it both ways.
Basically the argument is always that ManCity is a small club until they start debating Guardiola's achievement and then suddenly ManCity becomes the biggest club
Jim points are weird 😂 city don't have legacy or prestige, they are the best now and building for the future but Man Utd has something to it, first English team to win the CL & the treble, also even as a brand & popularity its not competition, if utd are as good as city, the media, world of football would be even more celebratory & it has that buzz and pull that only utd have thats a fact
Yes they would you are wrong Simon
Its like it needed explanation 😂
i'm a City fan but people need to stop getting carried away, we are still growing as a club from the top to the fans, but as much as i don't agree with Simon Jordan very often there are clubs who have a long heritage and European history, but if we do win a Champions League and carry on as one of the top premier league teams we do move up a notch, this is what you need to do to do for your worldwide fanbase to grow and to be talked about with these serial history makers, we are currently in that conversation in the premier league but still need to step it up that bit more to get closer to the very best
As an Arsenal fan, I will never accept City that is bigger than United.
I agree with Simon. If one of the legacy clubs were having this level of success they'd be making much more money from it. That is proof that the image of the club is not quite there.
Simon is right. If both Man City and Man Utd were made available for the same price most people would buy United
With Pep and company. I don't think so.
"This is what it feels to be small. You signed phill Jones, and we signed kun Aguero"
Ronaldo turned you down to sign for utd.
Forever in our shadow GGMU!
Utd fans conveniently forgetting that City were the first Manchester club to win a trophy. FA Cup 1904.
City fan here. Simon is right here. What he's talking about takes time and more success
You sound like a bitter Liverpool or United fan
Come back when you win 20 leagues or 6 champions leagues and then we'll have a discussion.
The salt in Simon Jordan is epic 😩🤣🤣
What about the brand city’s brand is worth 1.51 billion most in world football
Hey there, we here at MU don't care about what a teams brand is worth, or winning either !
er....as F1 fans , its more like Red Bull to Mercedes
"Colours right"? Red Bull doesn't have blue colour in their logo.
There's a simple way to answer this debate of iconography.... which club has the most fans around the world?
That's not what iconography means. Man City's iconography stops with their logo.
If Man City are Red Bull then Spurs are presumably Panda Pops.
