This is the second installment in our series "It's spring and the canopener is hungry" ... Last week an expensive-looking camper trailer had its air-conditioning units "chewed" off by the Gregson St canopener. That was crash #162 since 2008.
On the bright side it'll fit no problem on the way back.

@@chasecissell9627 Well then next time he goes that way.

@Mi p yea we replayed it lots
Someone should place a camera on the other side of the bridge to get people's reaction after going through the "metal eating bridge". It'll be priceless.
I recall they had tried at one point, but they were asked to remove the camera there by officials.
This comment is on every one of this guy's videos at least twice.
Like the rollercoaster pictures at theme parks!
Likely an issue of privacy, they'd have to ask to show the face of anyone appearing on the camera.
Streets are public places and there is no expectation of privacy.
In stead of a 90 degree turn, they'll have to deal with 90 degree heat.
The rain will cool them off.

all the heat should be escaping from the two gaping holes in the roof now.

It's funny how drivers always brake as if going slower would make the bridge taller
no, that would be a crazy notion. going slower makes your vehicle shorter, however
Some also try to go faster.
Lorenz Transforms don't work very well at driving speeds.
you've got to sneak up on the bridge, that's the trick.
*brake
I love how people just keep driving. They are so embarrassed they would rather continue destroying their vehicles further than back up and make eye contact with the people that saw them fuck up.

True, but as I pointed out in the other vid, the sensor is NOT picking up those above height or even close to it, they need to check the sensor is working or move it down about an inch below.

Bluegrass festival season is upon us, and things are starting to open up. People are taking their RV's to bluegrass festivals. I guess they'll have to do without air conditioning at this one. I hope it's not too warm outside.
Like a hungry cat
A/C hunting season.
I admit that I nearly did this once. It was my first time driving an RV, and we were driving across the country. At one point we were stopping for the night in Wisconsin Dells, and were headed to our campground. I hadn't anticipated the road dipping to go under a railroad crossing, but I also didn't think much of it as I cruised right on through. Only afterward did it dawn on me that that could have been a major mistake. The clearance for the bridge was 12'2'', and fortunately the RV was exactly 12 feet high. So, I got lucky that time.
Watched a guy crush his RV and his pickup truck after colliding with a overhang roof at a fuel station. Took out the whole Gas station in one terrible crash.
I backed into a overhang with my Motorhome at my buddies place once. Cost me nearly $1000 to fix his garage. I heard the crunch, stopped and without looking up I was confused and got in and backed up a little more only to hear more crunch. I honestly never thought to look up.
@@pixels303at-odysee9 Pulled through a stucco walled drive through just off the freeway south of Seattle. @@DwightStJohn-w1l any damage? I lucked out with my motorhome because it was built like a tank. Barely a scratch. It was tougher than the garage.
Ended up selling it three years ago after upgrading to a 27' fifth wheel trailer.
My buddy where I used to work took out the Tim Hortons sign at the drive through with a work truck. He was not as lucky because he tried to hide the damage to the truck (Never reported it). Boss spent man hours to investigate and I guess Timmies had a camera which clearly shown him driving. Lost his job. I learned that he also totaled two of his own vehicles as well and his insurance was pulled. He decided to move back to India so he could start again in a different country. You rarely hear about how the story ends. He was a fine person, despite his lack of spacial awareness. I should look him up sometime to see how he is doing.
The worst part is that the first air conditioner didn't get sheared off. It was shoved through the roof into the interior. Only the second one wound up on the street. That's a massive amount of damage.
If they can afford an RV, they can probably afford to fix it too. I have no sympathy for them either way though.

@@Taolan8472 It still appears to be an outdoor mic (usually protected which muffles them a bit) and it’s -well- over 50 ft away. Still impressively clear. Your pots and pans bit is nonsense here.
@@Chimera_Photography The pots and pans is a relatable example of metal to metal impacts, something the average person is likely to be familiar with. It's meant as a functional metaphor not a perfect explanation. Dropping a pot inside the cabinet can make an impressive noise, and that's only falling at a few feet per second given the confined space (which also amplifies the noise, but hey). Boost that to a few tons of metal banging together at a much higher speed, that sound is going to carry quite a distance.
The van behind them is an air conditioner company called Johnson HVAC Controls, lol, how ironic!

Ahahaha omg comment of the day.
It even fooled the "Overheight Must Turn" sign by sneakily only having its A/C units above the max height, lol.
Huh, that's lame! I thought it could detect the A/c because in the military truck video, they had a part of the truck jutting out and the sign could tell that.
I wonder if the sign should always be on and it should just say "Tall vehicles - drive carefully - accidents common," just in case the Overheight Must Turn doesn't come on.
The sign wasn’t working for a while.
Remove all the signs, light's, warning labels let nature take it's course. Stoopid is fixed.
@@j.walker3498 Speaking of "stoopid" -- why did you put an apostrophe-s after "light," but not after "sign" or "label"? With exceptions so rare that tney can be all but ignored, an apostrophe-s NEVER makes a word plural, it makes a singular possessive. Example: There were *three lights* on the house, but *one light's* fixture was broken. (Also, it's "take its course," not "take it's course." "It's" is a contraction of "it is," and "take it is course" makes no sense. Just remember that it's his, her, and its, not hi's, he'r, and it's.)
the funniest part to me is how everytime this shit happens someone is behind them or something and they just go around the wreckage like it happens all the time (it does)
OK that's the second bridge snack that didn't warn the driver... The bridge got so hungry it bribed the warning sign.
Driver to passenger: "Hey, we're in that town with the famous can opener bridge that I've seen on RUclips...wonder if we're close to that hilarious bridge?" MUNCH!😅
The vehicle itself was not enough to trigger the warning and the A/C units wouldn't trigger it is my guess since they are so small
Seems to me that the sensors should be designed to detect and warn vehicles where only small(ish) parts of it are too tall. Lots of vehicles are like that.

The meaning of life is our relationship with God. These four steps are the key to getting a Devine Revaluation directly from him. They are something you'd eventually do if you took God seriously enough to read the Bible, while implementing its teachings. They are, forgive your parents, break down before Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and read three books of the Bible. Step four requires the first book of each testament, and one you chose yourself. The order is actually important. The steps build on each other. Each one primes your soul for the next. To be forgiven we must forgive. Mathew 6: 14-15. That's why forgiving others has to come before asking for forgiveness. Jesus will not forgive you until you've at least done the bare minimum, our parents. They're supposed to be easiest to forgive, because they've fed, housed, loved us to some degree. Our problems with them are supposed to represent our problems with God. This is why the bare minimum to receive the revelation is our parents. You'll still have to forgive everyone though, but that comes much easier after meeting God. I'm extremely serious and very literal. I'm not talking about signs, nor feelings, nor prayer. It's an actual literal pulled out of your body direct one on one conversation, nothing you can miss. nor misinterpretae. The vast majority of christans never bother to do what God wants seriously, so most never get this revelation. To most outside church their Bible is a paper weight, or at best a virtue signal. Their religion is in what other people think about them, not their relationship with God. Please do those steps I mentioned, there really is a Devine Revaluation waiting for all of us. There's extraordinarlly important information we all desperately need in this revelation, but those who get it are forbidden to share it. The Truth that Jesus Christ is Lord is written on every human heart. We all have that knowledge inside us, but we bury it under mountains of pain and anger. Those steps clear away that garbage inside you, letting God heal you, so that his words boom clearly inside your soul. The entire point of our existence here is to Trust God enough that we pay him this mustard seed of Faith, so his Grace can remove the stain sin has left on our souls. Everyone that does not get this Grace is not forgiven of any of their sins, even if they turned around and we're the best person from 25 to death. Without Grace those first sins are still counted against you, tying you to the devil's punishment. It's not about being a good person, It's about being forgiven for when you weren't. The Bible is Truth. Please do those steps and see for yourself. Please take your salvation seriously

I come up with a nice quippy remark with oodles of thumbs ups, and I come to find it smeared with this worthless low-swinging misspelled political drack you felt desperately needed to be expressed. Shame on this mess. No points for you.
That's the fastest skylight install I've ever seen LOL 😂😂👍💡
Man you can still see the savaged metal guard after that last feast.
Wonder what it looks like underneath as the bridge jumped a bit on that one.
The best part of watching this channel is paying attention to the story that the crash bar tells. I love how ever since the bridge was raised we've been able to watch as that fresh, cheery yellow paint has been gradually ground off. Every scrape mark is its own story/battle scar, and the more paint gets scraped off the more everyone can tell how dumb the driving populace is.
They call them A/C units "tic tacs" LOL!! Love it. Whoever came up with that one, cheers to you, mate!
Top 10 for sure and to hear that 2nd unit land on the ground was precious.
OK gang.Try to follow along. The bridge was recently raised by 8 inches. (There are lots of videos, on this channel, before the change. Also videos of the construction.) If you look at this video at 0:06, for example, the signage is clearly 12' 4". Drivers are not relying on this YT channel to determine the clearance.
I've gotten stuck behind so many oversized camper vans that this is honestly cathartic 😂
Vicariously taking revenge through a 12'4" bridge?
That's a pretty radical psychological concept, I have to say. lol
"We better go slow in case the AC units hit. And if the first one hits, we will slow down even more."
No reverse gear, lol
Yeah, I don't get the logic. "This looks low, so I'm going slow, but fucked if I'm going to stop and consider this whole thing"
I'm new here. Can someone explain why the sign reads 12' 4" if it's 11' 8"?
I've watched a few other videos and the sign reads 11' 8". I had to return to this one to make sure I wasn't crazy.
For the record, I see they raised the bridge. Not enough, apparently. lol
It was 11'8. They have a video on i think this channel they explained the story about some big waterline below it that they cant move and they saved a ton of money my keeping train at certain angle, I haven't seen it in a few years, but I wanna say they shaved 8 inches off the bottom of the road. People decided to make trucks bigger which led to fun.
Best part is he doesn't even stop after he hears the first one break off 😅🤣😂
To be fair, he probably couldn’t. I think he realized his mistake about halfway through the intersection.
At that point, what can you do? Not like you can stop and crazy glue it back together. And backing up is reserved for the most stuck of trucks (like the legendary All My Sons incident).
Not only that, but the cherry on top was the fact that he made it all the way through the bridge and didn't even STOP... did he even realize his camper had been damaged? How long did it take him to realize??
No, the best part, is the van behind them is a very big AC repair company, called Johnson controls
@@FireBocchi I guess that makes more sense. Still, though... the foolishness of people getting caught under the bridge is kind of baffling. I get that the sign didn't flash this time for whatever reason, but with all of those OTHER warning signs, it's just so dumb.
Love that there is HVAC van watching the whole thing happen
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Just waiting to give the first estimate for repairs.
Johnson Control van driver: "Hey, just the parts I needed for my next job!"
That they will still charge their customer 500% of retail for the parts.
Honeywell parts are better.
11'8+8 foot bridge: trying to cheat me out? That's it! No more AC unit for you! Enjoy the hot summer.
I'll never understand people who don't know the height of these massive trailers they're pulling.
If the A/C was an add-on and the driver is still mind-locked on the height of the trailer warning signs don't matter. In this case study, the warning didn't go off... What's broken?
@@thomasboese3793 A trailer that size doesn’t have “add-on” a/c.
The warning sign shouldn’t matter. Drivers should know exactly how tall their vehicle is.
@@thecheeta the vans I drive for work are 8ft 11 tall. I still duck going under 10ft bridges 😂
@@thomasboese3793 nothing is broken, in regards to the bridge or advanced warning anyway. Both AC units are definitely broken.
The AC units are too small to trip the overheight sensor. Even if it had tripped the sensor, I’m gonna speculate that the driver would have ignored the sign anyway. My reasoning for that is because it’s a trailer that they ‘know the height of’
@@thomasboese3793 The driver for not knowing the height of their vehicle. I drive semis, some single decker 14'3" some double deckers 16'3 or 16'6". Those heights are based on the fifth wheel height of 1250mm. Personally I take the "height given on the trailer" and add a minimum of 3" (and ususally 6") on to that. If the bridge is lower than that, I don't go near it. If you don't know the characteristics (height, length, width, weight, movement capabilities etc) of your vehicle, you shouldn't be driving it.
The bridge is hungry, so drive like hell
Ignore the warnings, and feed it well!
Gotta love how they slow down to minimize damage yet still lose their ac entirely
Love how he didn’t stop🤦🏻He is like oh well nothing I can do now!!! Yeah you can..clean up your shit
The bridge peeled them off like those candy buttons on wax paper.
@dave Me too,
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Peeled, great word. My dad used it peel down, to pay for something.
thedogdogification ... not much holding those things on the roof. I just removed one last summer and there's maybe 4 screws clamping it down with plastic frames top and bottom that make a sandwich with the roof.
That's a blast from the past
My favorites are always the one's that realize, 'something must have happened', but keep going until they're out.
If I lived near this bridge, I would put a lawn chair out there and watch everyday just waiting for the fun.
You could bring a cooler with you and sell sodas for a buck or two. Make some money. Maybe the city could install bleachers!
I'll bet you could sit for even weeks or even months with no action though. It's spectacular when it happens and is caught on video but I bet it would be a lot of waiting to see one live.
@@ian3580 Possible shrapnel could be a problem, too.
I’ve never driven a camper, but I would think an activity for Day One of ownership would be to memorize the height.
I dunno Y, but the final moment with the AC falling down just made my day. It is so tragic, and yet hilarious. Its just like a final accord of a short black humor suite.
Yeah, the timing is like a punch line.
the AC falling off the roof has better comedic timing than I do
I like how it's a Johnson Controls van that is the next vehicle. He's probably used to working on bigger HVAC units, but he may have been able to help out.
@@foamer443 that was best part that cracked me up!!
I like how everyone decides to leave their shit in the road once it’s torn off
Ignoring guidelines and leaving trash behind tells us a lot about the people that nail it.
To embarrassed to go clean up I guess
I don’t think he knew it happened because he was towing it
@@jakeg3126 the fact he came to a crawl as soon as it caught just shows extreme lack of awareness or just driving away in shame of it happening.
Y'all, you don't know he just left it there - the video doesn't show what took place after! The guy would have had to find a place to park before he could get out and clear the wreckage out of the way. Sheesh!
Love this channel.
Thanks for the memories :)
