Yep, started talking about Alien... I was like here we go. Then he mentioned the shotgun..facepalm. Did anyone review his review? Lol The game looks really good with the footage though.
In Aliens, they do kill a descant amount of Xenomorphs, but it's also an immediate sh!^show, and half of those advanced special marine corps guys get destroyed and overwhelmed and are instantly on the back foot, like a fort under siege. No one is having a fun time shooting massive cockroaches like in these videogames
I truly think all the reviewers are confused about how easy it is to actually kill an alien in the movies when they have proper pulse rifles and even shotguns and pistols and such. It's really the sheer number of them and their ability to appear from anywhere and move on walls and shoot acid for blood and stuff that makes them a pain. But, yeah, they should and usually do die pretty quickly when you're firing rounds from a machine gun into them. So I don't think that's a legit thing for all you guys to be calling out here. Maybe it's something else that's failing to convey the right sense of tension and such, but I don't think just making the aliens bullet sponges is the key. Possibly making their blood actually cause real damage if you shoot them when they are too close, and maybe even keeping the acid on the floor for longer and making that cause some damage if you step into it too would really sell the danger of even engaging them at all. I think that would be a good way to handle it. Then you'd really have to pay proper attention to both the aliens and environment at all times, which I think would up the tension level considerably.
I've played a bunch of PSVR2 and never once had that issue pressing the PlayStation buttons?? Is it something in particular about the control layout for this game?
"The only weapon recognizable in the Alien universe..."? What are you talking about? Most of the settings of these type games are derivative of Hadley's Hope from Aliens. If you watched that movie, two of the guns in it are Hicks' pump shotgun and Gorman's revolver. Even in Colonial Marines (the one everyone seemed to hate) those two guns were special legendary weapons you could find and use. You don't know what you're talking about because they fit perfectly in Alien lore. I just wish there was a Smart Gun in there to use.
@ - Okay, so it was Gorman's pistol and not a revolver. It's irrelevant. The point still stands. The guns in the Alien franchise aren't all futuristic.
They should give the aliens free roam of the map which means you could enter a room on the first play through and there’s no alien, the second time there is. The game sounds like it’s missing unpredictability. Stick the unpredictability in and we could have a real winner of a VR horror game. Of course the main scenes which always require an alien to carry the cutscene would have to remain unchanged but just give the aliens free roam and the game will change for the better. Also add in a distance to noise for the aliens to actually hear you or not.
The problem I think most gaming companies have with the action-adventure approach of Aliens is that of the two major gun battles that happen in that movie, the Colonial Marines experienced severe losses both times. Sure, they had plenty of high-powered weaponry, but they were still on the losing side of each battle (which was Jim Cameron's point). Had the makers of this game remembered that detail, it probably would have been a better survival horror game with more intense combat situations.
I desperately wish that both Isolation and its incoming sequel get VR versions. The VR mod of Isolation remains one of my favorite VR experiences of all time.
Here's a question: Do we get to use the pump action grenade launcher function of the pulse rifle as per Aliens? And if not, why in the hell not. That would be so satisfying and actually in-keeping with the movies.

@@TheJadedJamesa flamethrower was the only tool you had avaible to stand a chance. Though in Alien isolation, the Xenomorph was made considerably stronger than is standard in the universe.
I love this game, but is it just me or is the HDR implementation on the OLED headset quite poor? OLED should output pure black, but with Alien Rogue Incursion, even if I turn the brightness down all the way to the left, the black levels simply won't go any darker. There are no blacks in this game.....only dark grey. As great as the game looks, everything looks kind of washed out and desaturated with very little contrast between dark and light. Any thoughts?
At first, I thought this is like playing Aliens: Colonial Marines in VR, and I loved it! Then I realized the AI of this game seems to be just like said game, as it doesn’t seem like the aliens are near as intelligent as they’re supposed to be. True ambushes from the ceiling would be nice, maybe add a melee weapon as the only thing that can break you from the xeno’s grip, though you suffer some acid splash damage. And I agree, where are all the rest of the arguably more iconic weapons? The flamethrower and the smart gun in particular? I still love this game, but it could definitely do with some decent post-launch patches, and DLC adding new mechanics and tools.
Would love the sequel to have human enemy types and facehuggers as the common enemies, the xenomorphs as a less common enemy. Maybe even having you deal with a freshly chest busted alien and boss encounters like a queen or synthetic. Lots of potential.
I've just got this and it's excellent, now watching this review, I definitely think the big day one patch has fixed many of these issues, the Alien AI is good and they have completely surprised me by hiding behind pipes and on the ceiling etc. also they've even popped up in the supposedly safe save rooms which really scared me. I'm totally on edge the whole time just as you would be in this situation. The story, characters, action and graphics are all excellent. The other negatives in this review I haven't seen either like repeated dialog so this has been patched too. I also think the controller issue is the user's issue because I've had PSVR 2 since day one and I've never accidentally hit the PS button so not sure about that being a down side. Love this game so much and it's as scary as you'd imagine it to be. 9/10
Literally would not expect anything less than this stellar review from this stellar group. I personally gave Alien: Rogue Incursion a 2/10 because my drink did not have any ice in it, and because my blue tooth in my car stopped working. Absolute chads IGN.
This game is one of the best games to play this year, because you're inside the game with aliens on another world unlike Astrobot 2 where it's locked inside the monitor in 2D.
The only valid point about their only being xenomorphs or facehuggers. There could have been other kinds of xenomorphs aside from the warriors, they could have had drones scouts crushers and such.

If I were Creative Director I'd make this game Darker then all the movies, I'd make it M17+. it'd be an extraction shooter, with full xeno life cycle if you get caught, or downed. You would come back as a chest buster. Survive, grow, and build the hive. If you die, you go back in as a human. If you survive, you get upgrades, new weapons. Nuke the planet if you need a server to end. Making levels in spacestations... acid blood would just shorten the time in the raid and cause unique events.
My god, IGN... you are a gaming news portal. Its unjustifiable how a hired reviewer is less aware than the average youtuber. The guy complained of weapons designs that are in the movies, he complained about how he does not know how hold a VR controller as a negative point to the game. I mean, this is just amateur.
"oddly generic and LOW TECH for a SCIFI setting" lmao - he really just said that talking about Hicks Shotgun and the pulse rifle or Revolver xD did he EVER watched a Alien or heared anything about alien weapon lore? "only on IGN"
You guys should have your early access revoked. Please don't give this review the weight of a grain of salt. You not knowing how to hold a controller seems more like a user issue. EDIT: I just spoke to without parole (prominent VR reviewer) he said he did it once in the 10 hours he has played the game and said it's about of average how often he does it typically and said if someone is doing it often they likely dont use a psvr2 very much and its more user error.
I mean the alien "pretty easy to kill" compared to the first one, is that in the first they didn't actually have any firearms, just a flamethrower that we understood wouldn't be much of a use. also the fact they are worried that it would destroy the ships they're on if they would bleed the thing... but in the second one it's pretty clear that on a planet (so no worries that he planet would crash...) and with firearms, you become a issue for the aliens... and that continue in the third and fourth alien. so not much surprise here, then you have isolation which make the aliens unkillable even with good firearms, but then I would see it as worse lorewise, it doesn't follow the aliens weakness in front of firearms.. but at the same time procure a feeling of thrills you wouldn't get otherwise. so yeah 50/50 on this one, think they did a good portray on this one, but the alien strategies which seem weak contrary to the lore where the aliens definitely "think" for himself, at which point also understand the danger of firearms and act accordingly.

Now why would you guys review this but not Metro Awakening, which is literally one of the best VR games ever made
In space nobody hears your scream! This looks like it may be good.
Predictable 7 because 1-10 bell curve entertainment ratings are predictable. Get over it.
Yes wish it was more like alien isolation, stalker survivor mode that we all want though as the aliens here don't seem scary or a threat.
The only valid point about their only being xenomorphs or facehuggers. There could have been other kinds of xenomorphs aside from the warriors, they could have had drones scouts crushers and such.
I mean they also gave alien isolation, the 2014 goty, a 5.9. So, you know, take it with a grain of salt.
spoiling that the android won't betray you kind of removes some tension that could be possibly had.
I mean, that's pretty clear right from the beginning and also spoiled for you already if you've kept up with the comics.
News alert ...The review was done by an actual Alien with 7 fingers on each hand to keep pressing the ps button.
“I’m a review journalist, I suck at video games, and I used chat GPT to write a review for me. I don’t want to offend anyone by giving it a low or high score, so I will go with lucky number 7, because I have no real review skills”
"I'm an incel, obliged to be whining in comments every day, my life is so pathetic that my ego is tied to perceived difficulty and 'skill' in games even though I'm not good enough to play at a professional tournament level, and even if I was, no one else would care."
@ aww poor ign game journalist had to break out the separate account to release his anger 🥺🥺
@@SovettaParmettaYeah the shilling is crazy in the IGN comment sections.
7 is a good score
I’ve played years worth of PSVR2 and you saying it’s annoying when you hit the PS button it hilarious! I’ve done it, but it really doesn’t happen that often at all… you either have weird hands or don’t know how to play the PSVR2 controllers bro if you’re hitting them “that” often… (as much as he did back to back in the video, even if it was an accident, is insane)
I've never had any issue with accidentally pressing the PlayStation button on PSVR2, anyone else?
@@Quantum_Donut Literally never, clearly the reviewer is panicking and just hitting random buttons, 100% a skill issue
Did they give it a 7??? Please, tell me it was a 7!!!!!!!!
I was going to like your comment, but it's best to leave it at 7.
Can we please enjoy other takes on the franchise other than alien isolation take on it. AI is getting remastered for vr and AI2 has been confirmed! Im so tired of people crying alien isolation 2 every time a new alien game comes out. Let other Alien games make thier way too. You guys always bring up IGN review of AI but yet still come watch thier alien reviews. LET IT GO! So glad an alien game has come to take the action horror theme then just hiding in a locker all the time! Vertic 7# out of 10 is pretty safe.
Mostly...
The AI remaster is just a questionable rumor, unfortunately.
@wasteddimension it's already being work on.
@@naturalstate8539 No. No it is not.
@wasteddimension yes it is. You must not be doing research. Go do some research on it, and you will see. That's one of the reasons AI is being remastered for vr. Now you want to not believe then that's fine but that's not correct 🙂
@@naturalstate8539 Okay, feel free to provide a source since you've done your "research".
Too much rogue, not enough incursion 7/10
It seems the Acid blood is thrown out the window.
Even the movies are extremely inconsistent with that.
Certainly a shame
It is a game at the end of the day and that would be pretty OP 😅
@@itscard0man everyone wants the experience of a perfect organism. No one wants a watered down version... people want the fear, they want real consequences. I feel people are sick of arcade experiences.
Seen it in other reviews. Again missed another key component of Alien and Aliens.
The acid splashes on the screen and takes away health.
Good review. It does sadly look repetitive as hell. Too bad was hoping for more.
Just started playing this game last night and it's absolutely amazing and it looks great loving it
Thanks for covering this one, Travis. IGN is the only gaming journalism I trust nowadays
7? Ah ok, so it means like a 9.5, judging by the score you gave Alien Isolation. Gotcha! Awesome!
I’ve been playing for about 2 hours now. So far, I’m liking it 👍
I am pretty sure nobody wishes to be hunted by one of the greatest predators ever created in the universe.
Remember Hicks had a shotgun...for close encounters.
According to the IGN score, it's better than Alien: Isolation lmao
The day when I sold my Meta Quest is now the darkest day of my life after finally seeing woooohoooo ALIEN GAME since Alien Isolation!!
So it's at least 9/10 from what I hear and see and IGN giving an Alien game a 7 also means it's a banger.
I'd give it a 5/10 at best. The xenomorphs are more annoying than threatening and only serve to keep your ammo count going up and down.
I only watch IGN reviews to see how far off the are.
I was first but decided to watch the review before commenting.
Great comment! *pats back*
Proud of you man
how could you get past the first 10 min without feeling nausea
Why graphics looks like its from 2010?
