    I'm sure glad I watched this video. Thank you, John. I had started my first batch of Boogie Brew tea. After hearing Josh rave about the Ortho Dial N Spray Hose-End Sprayer I ordered one from Amazon, and it will be delivered tomorrow. Then I added more of the Boogie Brew mixture to my brew bag to make it tipple strength.

      Be sure and tighten the sprayer to the inline filter well. It tends to leak otherwise. I wish the Ortho sprayer had a finer spray as it depletes the canister pretty quick.

    I've been doing compost tea for years, but i recently bought the boogie brew pack with the ortho hose end sprayer. That really is a good method, and helps to spray the underside of the leaves. It even gets my fruit trees. I'm very happy so far with Josh's method. And, sorry Josh, but rock dust is awesome, too!!!!

      Josh is a liar!!! He had multiple video’s claiming his boogie brew is organic and it isn’t!!! Not register with OMRI or cdfa!! That is a major lie!!! He even goes as far as saying there is a “labeling issue” and ships with no label so you will never know!! There are other lies if your interested

    John, I very much appreciate and admire your "purist" attitude in everything that you do, but have to side with Josh on this one. I wanted to apply EM-1 to a very large area and aside from my hand getting a bit crampy from having to keep a constant squeeze on the trigger for more than an hour, that Ortho sprayer worked like a dream for my purposes. It made the job so brainless and easy that I'll have no problems (primarily mental block) applying the product on a regular schedule.
    Of course your watering can would also be perfect for smaller applications too and I will definitely keep it in mind for if/when I start a container garden on my condo patio!
    Once again, mahalo for sharing this info about both of these great methods! Keep up the great work with your videos!

  • @infiniteawareness2698

    What about cleaning the little tube that goes from the container to the sprayer in the Ortho sprayer? You know that little skinny tube that looks like a straw leading from the container to the sprayer. Doesn't that have to be cleaned each time?

    This was great! Question: I got a sample pack of the tea when I bought a filter. I went out and bought a small air pump and two little stones. I put filtered water in my 5 gallon bucket and started the brew yesterday. But after this video I see I don't have near enough air AND I didn't rinse the burlap bag. So do you reccomend I toss this batch and start over with better air pump and rinsed bag, or go ahead and use what I made?

    Again love when you guys get together your knowledge is gold in my opinion .. but wait a minute Josh preached about not putting your comp tea through any hoses big or small but his applicator he recommends is a small version of a pressure sprayer??? If bio film residue is formed into that tiny tube of that small sprayer its not likely it will be easy to clean just as stated at the beginning of the video .. not trying to rain on the parade I love you guys and your knowledge I have been growing for a lot of years and you always inspire me to innovate my practices especially going organics and no till method etc. Keep up the awesome content

      +barneyg0 At 8oz per gallon, (the strongest dilution setting), it goes through about four gallons per cycle, (super sorry that we never replied sooner!). you can hook up a filter between the hose bibb and hose, there are short hoses tha can go in between the bigg and the filter too, to prevent breaking the bibb. You should def filter out the chlorine and chlormines it will kill the beneficial bacteria in the tea and your soil.

      Jake Lane For my indoor garden I only brew a half to a full gallon of Boogie Brew at a time I dilute that with two to three gallons of water and use it over the course of about three days. For the tea that is left, I throw an airstone back in the bucket and put in a teaspoon of raw sugar or half a teaspoon of molasses to keep the lil' critters alive til I can use them. If I dont use it up in three days, I pour it out on the roots of the crabapple tree In front of my apartment. It is about the healthiest tree in the Apt. complex.

      Alaska Fish
      Veggies/Annuals 2tbsp/gal for 25sq ft
      Perennials/Roses 3tbsp/gal for 25sq ft
      Outdoor container plants 1tbsp/gal for 1 cubic ft soil
      3 2x8=16 sq ft x3=48
      1 2x5=10 sq ft x1 =10
      1 5x5=25 sq ft x1=25
      2 4x4=16 sq ft x1=32
      1 5x4=20 sq ft x1=20
      2 2x3=6 sq ft x2=12
      Potted=appx 24
      Sq Ft Totals
      Raised beds=135 sq ft
      Potted =24 sq ft
      Products
      Maxicrop Liquid Seaweed
      (unsure of sq ft per gallon- using fish sq ft calculation)
      2tbsp(1oz)=25 sq ft
      4tbsp=50
      6tbsp=75
      8tbsp=100
      10tbsp=125 sq ft
      12tbsp(6oz)=145 sq ft
      14tbsp (8oz)=170 sq ft
      Alaska Fish Fertilizer
      3tbsp(1.5oz)=25 sq ft
      6tbsp(3oz)=50 sq ft
      9tbsp(4.5oz)=75 sq ft
      12tbsp(6oz)=100 sq ft
      15tbsp(7.5oz)=125 sq ft
      18tbsp(9oz)=150 sq ft
      21tbsp(10.5oz)=175 sq ft
      How could I avoid having to make a second concentration to go around to my potted plants after I fertilized/ watered my raised beds. I don't have designated areas for raised beds and pots. I don't want to make two trips around the yard when I could do it in one trip. I have a mix of annuals(including wildflowers), perennials, and vegetables. Most are in beds and pots together.

    Because of this video I went out and bought an Ortho Sprayer. Unfortunately it only lasted one season. I emailed the company and of course they wanted me to produce a receipt which I had lost. I went to the Home Depot where I thought I had bought it and explained the problem (the plastic was coming apart at the seams and it was leaking). The manager was nice and just gave me a new one. However the new one also only lasted one year. I will say I left it outside year-round attached to the hose. I didn't baby it.

      Interesting. Id figure thats pretty common of people who own them to keep them screwed on year round. Do you get harsh winters? Maybe the plastic doesnt like the cold weather.

      @@joeykimball5705 Actually the winters aren't that bad. I'm in Zone 8A but I did keep it screwed on the hose the whole time. We only have about 6 weeks of freezing temps or below just for a few hours at night. But if we aren't getting barraged with occasional yet long lasting downpours in the winter and spring, it is usually sunny - and in the summer often is in the 90s if not 100s.

    How do you get CL free water in your hose? Doesn't the tainted water kill the beneficial bacteria?

      Full a bucket and let it sit out in the sun for a day. Chlorine will evaporate. Or you can get a filter for the hose. But yes you are correct

    Was wondering is compost tea light sensitive while brewing?

      tuk843 I’ve wondered this as well. I would imagine it is light sensitive, if only for the simply reason that light rays getting trapped inside as heat could damage things. Also, these are microbes that live down in the soil - so naturally they’d be adapted to darkness.

    Can you add EM1 into your compost tea? If yes, when? During brewing or after brewing.

    Awesome, but for some strange reason I had ZERO LUCK with growing jack squat this year, other than grapes and blackberries.
