Useful video thanks. Once the tea is brewed, I was told to mix it with water on a 1:5 (water) ration. Diluted to a color of a mild drinking tea color. Agree?
Oh I just heard at the end that you dilute your tea with water for foliar spray 50:50. Sounds like it is going to be very potent. Danger or leave burn?
i have worked in production horticulture for 25 years using old farm practices eg.synthetic ferts, broad spectrum insecticdes i have found this video one of the best , to the point , no bullshit info vids the 23 thumbs down ,,there are allways a few know it alls that know f,,,all 23 of them it seems .Dude keep up the fantastic work you are also very engaging ,you had me captured right to the last air bubble GOOD JOB
When I started gardening in the place I live the soil was very dry and sandy (deep sand) after using compost and compost tea for the last 10 years it is now a rich worm filled nutrient living soil. The plants grow stronger, produce more and have way less disease and pests. I don't mind all the extra work it takes to be Organic and to create a living soil. This year I'm beginning work on the fungi and i'm very excited to see the results from that!! Love your videos ,you helped me a lot when I built my Chicken Coop/Run. thank you!!
Today, I was taking a trip down memory lane of videos that I have watched from you and found myself here. The need to appreciate you and your genuine teaching style is understated massively in our society, however there is a community that has always been here supporting and agreeing with you. And now to look at how far soil health science has come in just a few years. Now that I find myself in June 2020 (needless to describe our environment), I must express how much you have influenced me over the years and inspired me. Please, help me leave the central valley and it's monocultures behind, good people need good people and help more now than ever. I need to be around people that think like me, and if you had the grace to assist me in a direction, it would be beyond my gratefulness, it would be beneficial to the humanity that I wish to help, like you do my friend, as we slide into an interesting predicament here in June 2020.
Great video! I have the book Teaming with Microbes. Seeing you make the tea with step by step directions was so helpful. Your past teaching career holds you in good stead. Your a good teacher.
😂 I was so focused on the title and intro that when our super host appeared squinting with the light in his eyes he had my full attention from the start, him and his 'pillers. Keep it up, bro. You're a star!
Very good stuff Steven. I read Teaming with Microbes last summer and have red wrigglers in oak leaf compost. I've collected the runoff from this a few times, but this is inspiring me to create a bigger tea system to get the full use from that brew. Thanks for taking the time!
With all this talk about aeration and aerobic, I know oxygen is good, but people have been “steeping” compost for a very long time and seems to work great. I’ve been throwing compost in a bucket , mixing it every few hours. Let it sit overnight for 6 years and it’s Very good stuff. Im starting to aerate now and will see if there’s any improvements? I use spring water which has very high oxygen levels. Thank you.
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) will remove not only chlorine but also chloramines which many utilities use and cannot be aerated out of your water...just takes a tiny amount.
How was I not already subscribed? I've watched a ton of your videos, and they're always so informative. Really appreciate the scientific approach to gardening. I find this stuff to be fascinating.
I've made anaerobic tea for years, and the plants love it, I read somewhere that when you add fresh water to dilute it starts the airobotic action again, and the airobic microbes eat the anarobic ones and its all good,
Great video. My garden soil has improved immensely. But the biggest thing I've noticed since I've been using these techniques, is all the compliments I've been getting on my eyebrows.
Funny I’ve lived on well water for 65 years. And If I try to drink Chlorinated water it makes me ill. My wife took a drink out of a drinking fountain at O’Hare Airport and had diarrhea before we landed in Dayton. That’s like 45 minutes. Good Video. Cheers!
I love the cookies and candies analogy. I work well with metaphors so this video really helped me to understand the relationship with the microorganisms and the plants. Thank you Steven!
So I was listening about the Humic Acid part, and I'm wondering if the Leatchate (worm run off from a worm bin) could be used instead of running water over compost? Or is that basically the same thing as putting the worm castings in at the end like you did? Great educational video, learning a ton!
Hello, i love your contents, one of the best, i have a question about the dilution ration, what is the best dilution ration for the trees and how much should i spray the tree like how many liters for each tree, i have a semi drawf apple trees age of 8 year.
Thanks for spreading your knowledge! Question about your microscope analysis -- what are you looking for (microbially speaking), ratios of fungi, bacteria, protozoa, etc? Do you stain your sample with anything to make it easier to see the microbes?
I have a question - I’ve seen some other shows where they take plant scraps and put it into water let it sit until it decomposes - and then put that water on plants. 🌱 It is an anaerobic set up
Definitely learned a lot I got alarmed as you said the warnings of applying little amount of aeration to the tea and it made me learn to know more about bacterial activities do to plants.
Thank you for your great presentation & valuable information. May I suggest a better way to aerate? Put a reverse Y fitting in your water pump hose, as far from the outlet as possible, but still in air. Air is drawn in & mixes with the water, if you give it some length to do so. You may doubt this works, but, I oxygenated 100,000 pounds of fish in a fish farm this way.
Enjoyed the video very much. I listened to it while working. Your voice, writing, presentation and information was easy to follow even without out the visual. I use RUclips like a podcast. Though I've listened to various composing videos I still found new things to learn. I also like hearing your appreciation for the soil biologist and their work.
Great video, thank you. Say, perhaps you could help me with my Moss lawn. I am learning so much about moss, and I have bought a house with a beautiful moss population, and want to expand it and help it to flourish. Could you tell me what I might use to feed my moss? I know moss does not actually respond to organic fertilizer, but it does require nutrients and minerals. Any remarks from you would be very helpful.
You have saved my lil backyard apt container garden lol I have made 2 buckets of anaerobic compost tea which I see would have burned up my transplants 💚
Thanks for the great how to for aerated teas. I already make as much compost and worm castings as I have room for on a suburban block but have been putting off creating teas. I've just been using worm leachate to keep my compost moist and buying organic foliar sprays. Seen you before on growingyourgreens channel so when your face showed up in the compost tea results I had to watch. (Sorry, but yes I remembered the eyebrows too) :) I've subscribed and now will have to check out lots of your other videos too. Thanks again from Melbourne Australia.
Very informative. I'm still confused on aerobic and anaerobic process. I am reading a few materials on both these process and use in enriching soil. Unable to make conclusion though. It would be great If you can share the reference materials that you used. Really appreciate it
Great video. I wish someone would make a video about all the tools and equipment needed for these kinds of processes. I’ve also heard Elaine Ingham talk about injecting biology into the soil underneath compaction layers, but I haven’t been able to find the equipment needed for that-at least not under $500 or $600 or more.
Worm castings are hands down the best fertilizer ever and you get the benefit of the microbes as well. Best of luck with your systems glad you are doing them, you'll love it!
4:25 I recently learned that the Mariana trench animals most likely came from cold and nutrient lacking waters from Antarctica and the underwater stream has allowed the mutation over the last 10 million years to allow them to enter the great depths and the temperature as well as the lack of nutrition.
I use boogie brew tea. Can I add some worm castings or aloe Vera to boost it or top dress with worm castings. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS. I ALSO HAVE A GOOD SUCCESS WHEN I ADDED 1 oz of black strap molasses
What i am liking with your channel i noticed that you are on here to pass on your knowledge. Most channels i notice teach nothing I already know. Thanks for making me a better gardener 😀
it was great catching you on instagram live recently, congrats on the move and I hope it's going great. I had this video cued up in a tab for a couple weeks while I have been looking around for tea recipes without molasses because I figured it would kill diversity in the tea. not easy to come by that type of recipe. of course you've got it here already and I just hadn't seen it. Thanks again. I have deeply appreciated all the knowledge you've been putting out there, and I have been experimenting with and learning so much from what you've shared. haven't dug into soldier fly larvae yet, but I may get curious enough soon. thanks again, take care.

super tired - lots of farm projects we're working through this week. This video is excellent - but for those of us balancing a lot - would you do time stamps? I listen more than once - but time stamps always help. Great video - not critiquing. I really appreciate what you're sharing
I discovered Dr Elaine Ingham a week ago and i have watched almost all the videos/lectures related to her. Mind blowing and eye opening. Did you attend her courses?
Hey thanks for the video. I’m an Arborist and Looking to make teas to ultimately amend soils under trees etc. I am looking into Elaine’s work as well. At 24:30 you said that you will make a video about microscope samples, did you record that? I am not able to find it. Also, does it really make a difference if we add humic acid if we are already using compost since the humic acid is isolated from compost itself? Why not just add slightly more compost instead?
I never did :( got busy with other things. I will for sure do it in the future I want to get a nicer microscope first though. Adding more compost will add more NPK and other nutrients, straining the compost to get humic acid is just a way to mainly get that compound specifically.
Can you / should you use bokashi to this to increase the fungal aspect of the tea? Or is that strictly for anaerobic application? Or maybe just putting the bokashi in the soil and using this with it would be good enough?
Great video, it helps me plan out my system. You keep saying you are putting oxygen into the system when in fact you are putting air. Air only contains about 20.94% oxygen, as opposed to straight oxygen.
Great condensed explanation of how it all works , I got a lot from it . What do you suggest for a lawn & shrubs like azaleas & hydrangeas . I used a lot of chemicals on my lawn this year & am now going with microbe friendly plan . It’s a cold fall so compost tea is not an option , but I want to put down alfalfa meal in spring followed by compost tea . Am I on the right track ?
Hi I live in the jungle mountains I'm trying to be self sustaining we kinda have to because of the lockdown. Any I am hoping to be able to make the compost tea but we are far from the sea to get the sea weeds so I was wondering if you or someone other smart person can help me find a plant that can be substituted? I was thinking banana sap? Thanks for your time and consideration!
I am confused on molasses. When I make mushroom teas to multiply all the wild mushrooms I find in the wild i use two cups molasses to 5 gallons 65 degrees water, age for 24 hrs and am able to spread the spores and fungi in habitat and get results for chanterelles, lobsters, boletes, ect. The teacher I learned from said the fungi feeds off the sugars. Is there any updates on this information of adding sugars to achieve higher levels of fungi?
If you just want to use it as more of a soil conditioner and fertilizer then yes you can do that, just continually aerate. The idea of making it in one batch and harvesting around 36-48hrs is that is when you have the most microbial diversity and largest populations of microbes.
Great video. I'm doing my compost tea in 5 gallon batches, but use water from rain barrels and/or my fresh water aquarium. Any insights. Soon to start a worm bin
If humic acid can be extracted from compost, then why is it included as a separate ingredient for the tea? If we are adding compost to the tea brewer, wouldn't humic acid be released from the compost that is put into the brewer?

Pure gold
Lmao😂😂😂
Holy shit!
Had something funny to say, totally forgot after laughing for five minutes 😂😂
thats freaky
U are an artist and a great teacher sadly some don’t appreciate that , awesome school , thank u
One of the best videos i have seen on YT for making compost tea. Down to earth and simply put. Thank you🌞

My wife logged on for the information and left falling in love with your eyebrows. Thanks bro😥
Do you also add Brawndo? It’s what plants crave, it’s got electrolytes. Seriously, love the videos and that you reference Dr Ingham. Keep it up.
Luneth Gardens But it has electrolytes it's what plants crave
Lol yep
Like outta the toilet?
Idiocracy is the name of the movie for the ones who were tryna remember for a second lol i got ya

Great timing.. I have been thinking of upping my worm tea brew... Exactly what I have been researching.. Great info.. Thanks.. Happy growing..
Nice glad to hear that Sima! I keep making mine better and better too. The soil biology behind it all is fascinating!
Love the videos! I’m actually building a worm farm like yours this weekend! Keep up the great motivational and educational video’s.
Love that Louis! Worms are our best friends :) Hope you like the system

It’s a Venturi
@@thomasa5619 It certainly is. Not a great one. But it aerates very well. A real venturi would be best.
Just wanted to be clear for any other readers
Thanks for putting this process and the why’s into understandable english!!

Looks great! Will try as I get the worm castings started... along with my compost pile... I think I'm going to get the Worm Factory 360.
Worm castings are hands down the best fertilizer ever and you get the benefit of the microbes as well. Best of luck with your systems glad you are doing them, you'll love it!
Great video my friend thanks for sharing your great information
Is humid acid really a “food” or isn’t it just an extract of microbes & fungi from compost?
Would this be good to spray on a sheep/cattle pasture? Great video. Thank you for your time.
Can I urinate in my tea and will it help? Soil drench only.
This is the most informative video on worm tea, and the environment, etc. Highly recommended. Thank you!
Thank you soooooooooooo much for this video and giving us the recipe!!!!!!!!!!
4:25 I recently learned that the Mariana trench animals most likely came from cold and nutrient lacking waters from Antarctica and the underwater stream has allowed the mutation over the last 10 million years to allow them to enter the great depths and the temperature as well as the lack of nutrition.

Dr. Ingam is awesome.
Would adding Wood Ash be beneficial to the brew?
How long does your tea last? How quickly do you need to use it up?
Thank you dear for good information 👍
when finished, how much do you dilute it? how much diluted tea should be used on a scale of an acre?
Humic and Citric acid also bind up chlorine and chlorimines as well
Can you aerate anaerobic soils such as river sludge into aerobic sweet smelling and good soil?? I hope this makes sense to you.
What i am liking with your channel i noticed that you are on here to pass on your knowledge. Most channels i notice teach nothing I already know. Thanks for making me a better gardener 😀
Super interesting since I’m trying to make worm tea. Thanks so much for this great info.
Awesome video. Looking forward to all of those future videos. 😊
Can I apply this aerated compost tea to my eyebrows to increase follicle growth?
it was great catching you on instagram live recently, congrats on the move and I hope it's going great. So like what if you made a really big version and used it as an aerobic septic system?
Chahahc this is basically what a septic system on your home does just add yeast to it every few months to keep the bacteria built up
Thank you for pronouncing Fungi properly....
For off-gassing the chlorine and chloramines, I've read that the offgassing only happens at the surface of the standing water so it's going to take a lot longer than a day to get that out of water by letting it stand. Also, you mentioned the humic acid will get rid of the chloramine. How does that happen? I don't see it tossing it out of the bucket. 😅 Perhaps it converts it but converts it to what?
Can you grow great plant with just teas ? Like once a week ?
Can I use peroxide or alcohol to clean aerating equipment?
Excellent Video! I appreciate your detailed instruction!
Hi,
Great Video. can you tell me what telescope is good to use (what magnification) to see the microbe population?
Thanks
David Wallace
Is it possible to make bokashi tea fertilizer?
Great information. I have been researchig Dr Elaine Inghams practices and you have managed to simplify it for me. Thank you from Australia!
I typed in “eyebrows “ and I got this!
Lucky I am also interested in compost tea!
It’s a joke dude!
Seriously, I enjoy your videos and am implementing some of your ideas here in Tasmania although hard to find some of the ingredients here in Australia 🇦🇺
Dear NAR, how long I need to wait to harvest my greens, and put them on my plate, after I sprayed them with the worm castings foliar tea?
Thank you for your very useful site.

Love the video, explains a lot that was needed on my part. Thank you.
Would the anerarobic bacteria be responsible for the horrid stench from comfrey and nettle teas? Would that make them unsuitable for vegetable crops?
So how can we make tea without having to buy products. Would make a great video
And thanks for suggesting Elaine's video's. I'm hooked on learning about the soil food web. Wish I had that money for a microscope lol.
See if your local buy nothing group has one you can borrow.
Have you made the video showing how you use your microscope for checking the bacteria and fungi and etc? I was looking for it but didn't find it.
Are you using that tea on your eyebrows those things are cranking
Looool wtf

If you live on a well in the country is there still chlorine in the water?
What is your take on Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ)?
Can Brown Sugar be used as a substitute for Molasses when brewing Worm Tea...??
Great condensed explanation of how it all works , I got a lot from it . What do you suggest for a lawn & shrubs like azaleas & hydrangeas .
Quick question. Can you explain cover cropping? Do I NEED to have that? Like buckwheat? Peas? Thank you for your time.
Here's a video I made a while ago on it, ruclips.net/video/o410IVRGNF0/видео.html
I am confused on molasses. Can you use the tea over time and keep adding castings and fish and humatic. Does it go bad it not use in a few days.
Soon to start a worm bin
what if I add liquid fertilizer after applying the tea? Would the liquid fertilizer kill the soil?
If humic acid can be extracted from compost, then why is it included as a separate ingredient for the tea? If we are adding compost to the tea brewer, wouldn't humic acid be released from the compost that is put into the brewer?
Hey man, you use this stuff on your brows too? They are very impressive👍
