      I been watching gardening videos since I was 8yrs old, no lie! Never went to school for it or nothing. By looking at me, you would never guess in a million years I love gardening. This is the guy to watch, he taught me 1/2 of what I know. The stuff I grow tastes better than anyone in my area, or even “grandmas”. I’m 43 now, back blown out, shoulder need replacing, so I small scale it lol.

I’m so excited I saw John’s gardening videos as I’ve spent a month or more watching his “juice offs”! I’ll be ordering kitchen equipment soon to replace top of the line machines that are 20-25 years old. Soon I’ll be ordering from Josh. Over the last ten years I’ve worked so hard to grow organically not thinking I was ruining it all by using city water. Ugh! I saw John talking about the filters in another video so I went out and got another hose and fittings. I’ll put together several shorter pieces for using the filters. Thanks John!

    You can definitely get away with just using dry soil amendments from down to earth if you want to.
    I mix the Bu's compost/ Coast of main compost with peat moss and lava rock. 1 part of peat moss 1 part lava rock or Pumice Stone, and 1 part Bu's compost.
    Then add your choice of amendments depending on if you planting seedlings or up potting your seedlings into big pots.
    Here is what I use for amendments mixed into my peat, pumice, compost blend.
    Asterisks* means not required. More asterisks* means less required.
    All amendments listed are per 1 cubic foot of soil or about 7.5 gallons.
    1 cup kelp meal
    1 cup alfalfa meal
    1/2 cup Neem meal
    1/2 cup Crab or Crustacean Meal
    1 + 1/2 cups Glacial Rock Dust
    1 cup of Gypsum
    1 cup Oyster Shell flour
    1/2 cup Azomite (trace mineral additive)*
    1 cup green sand ***
    1/4 cup rock phosphate*
    1 cup prilled/ pelletized rock phosphate** ( hard to find)
    1 cup dolomite lime**
    2- 4 handfuls of worm castings depending on texture and strength*
    2-4 cups bio char **
    add 5-10% water and let sit for 2-4 weeks before use

    • @OrganicGreens
      @OrganicGreens 2 года назад +2

      @@surferdude-ll2qu I'm not sure what you mean exactly sorry. Mix one part peat moss one part pumice stone and one part compost. • @BoogieBrew
      @BoogieBrew 2 года назад +3

      Diluted tea (and also your own workhorse teas) drenched weekly on soil and leaves, (via showerhead nozzle works well on larger spaces). If needed, the Budget or Pro brew kits we offer are a very good value. Also, PureProtein, (twice monthly foliar feasts) , and frass, (added to mature tea). If a bloom-food is needed in peak season, (which is rarely - usually 2 applications in a crop's life cycle, max), then there's a good selection of sensibly-priced natural top dressings on the market, (eg: "Rainbow Mix Pro" or even Dr Earth, etc)....Try to plan on generating your own compost and worm castings, find wood chip mulch nearby, (also, consider hugel-kultur with logs, etc.) Thank you for crafting a garden! (Soil over Oil).

    Great video and I will be getting some products shown here for my garden! Are you worried about fertilizer shortages with the Russian embargo and Ukraine war? I was told much of our fertilizers come from that area.

      The oil and gas industry ferts - aka "deadrients" - synthetic etc....sure thing, plenty of those do indeed come from oil-republics. For us, none of that is an issue (and the world could benefit from a mass-shortage of chemicals!). However, items like organic soy are in short supply, mostly due to big-ag's grip on GMO soy here (and ridiculous taxes being imposed on Argentinian organic soy). Kelp was also hard to come by a couple of years back.

    30:12. What is Josh saying about the tea he advices to make more of, a 36 hour brew ?? The brochures only instruct about a 24 hour brew.

    • @BoogieBrew
      @BoogieBrew 2 года назад

      For workhorse tea recipes, it usually requires longer brewing times. AACT is usually ready after 24 to 36 hours, be sure to smell to see that it hasn't turned anaerobic, (sour / ammonia-like odor), and the foods you added, (eg: "Boogie Boost"), have been metabolised. (It should smell sweet & earthy!)
      24 hours is usually enough for Boogie Brew, (36 to 48 hours for simpler worm teas), however cold water inhibits microbial activity, so in the cooler seasons it can be advantageous to brew indoors (garage, etc) and / or place a heat mat under the bucket, as well as brew for longer periods (up to 48 hours or perhaps even longer).
      Be sure to use an adequate pump with sufficient air-strength to obtain proper aerobic conditions in your tea. Our rule of thumb is at least 1 liter of air, (per minute), for each liter of aqueous solution.(about 4 liters of air per gallon of tea). In addition, try to keep water temperature sufficient to allow for decent microbial activity, (about 72 degrees). Always use a dechlorinator and check your water hardness, (high ppm's are less than ideal).
