Oh my gosh, my daddy used to make those and he’s long since died, so I never knew how he did that nor what they were called. I’m so tickled to see your recipe, you made my heart sing this morning.
Thank you. İ have used your tattie scone recipe often now and always a yummy result :-) İ usually make a batch of them and just sear them on both sides in a frying pan for a few seconds. İ find it easier for freezing and storing for later. İ live in Turkey and have introduced some locals to the tattie scone. They loved them 🙂
Wow brings back so many happy memories of the past. Any time I am back 'hame' I always head straight to a sandwich shop for a couple of morning rolls with square sausage and tattie scones. Asda in England sell morning rolls and tattie scones but they don't seem to taste the same. What I would give for some Curries special Kola, Butter tablet and some Oddfellows. I'm in my 50's now and plan to retire to Scotland. My family moved to England when I was 6. I am grateful to England for the life I have had but always think of Scotland as home. What's for tea I just found your channel and going to look and see if you have uploaded a video making stovies and ham hoch soup. Mum passed away a few years ago and sadly none of the rest of the family have any idea how to make them xx
my gran used to cook em on a griddle or dry fry them first. Some would have with a chunk of butter, the odd one with jam. They was only shallow fried when with a fry up.good show.
I appreciate my Scottish roots, even though I live in England and my ancestors left Glasgow in the 1890s to continue their trade of shipbuilding,in Liverpool. I am certainly going to give this recipe a go.
These look Great!!! I have never seen anything like these ones. I cannot wait to try them. Thank You for sharing them with Us. They look and sound Delicious!!!

Lovely,I've watched people make them and cook them on a griddle but shallow frying is the best, nice wee shot of Dunure harbour there not far from me in Ayr
Never burnt. Well fired. LOL. Thanks for showing how it's done. (Used to work Saturdays at McMillan's bakery back in the dark ages.) Long time since we've had Tattie Scones. I'm going to add them to our Christmas breakfast this year. I found a recipe for Lorne sausage last year & will be using it again this year. Wishing you and yours all the best this holiday season from Peachland BC Canada.
Thanx from Ontario Canada if I only knew how easy they were to make would not have bought all these years and they are pricey over here and you have to find a shop that sells them Thankyou Thankyou ohhh I think a fry up this Sunday! Take care 🐝🏴
Thanks for video a made my first scotch breakfast in lock down square sausage haggies and tattie scones and I'm back to make another the tattie scones just soak up all the breakfast juices
Thank You ! Just discovered your channel two days ago and was scrolling your recipes just now to see if you had one for them :) Keep it Up ! Cheers from France !
The pùotatoe scone looks really good I love them with an egg and dip scone in yolk or dip in tomato sauce. The dark colour Is usually way you buy scones .Mine are they've looked burnt effect.XX
Dunure Harbour was there about 3 years ago, trying to catch The Outlander cast, but missed them. Still had a look at the castle and lunch in the coffee shop. Then back to my sisters house in Ayr. Can you please list the music your playing, as it’s familiar but I can’t put a name too it. Thanks David
This looks so good! But my dough did not have the lovely elastic quality of yours, despite the fact I followed the recipe exactly. Any ideas why? Should we cool the dough before rolling and cutting?
Living in London I am thinking this year for Christmas breaky I will make homemade slice cause ye canny get them here and tattie scones but I will have to buy a round plate mine are all oval
yasss thanks for the recipee during these hard times no getting any tattie scone has been heart breaking so making this on Tuesday when my spuds get delivered :D
this is also known as potato bread isn't it? i have eaten I think the UK kind (from a specialised grocer here in Australia) and maybe the Irish kind too as a childhood friend her Irish father (a butcher) used to make them, brings back memories they were SO YUMMY!!! with Tom sauce.
I’m wheat intolerant so always looking for an alternative to the sandwich. I’ve just made these with Dove’s Freee flour, which can be a bit dry, so I added a bit of grated cheese. Absolutely delicious. I’m sure these are going to become a firm favourite. 🙏
Greeting from Sydney, Australia! You might be interested to know that about 55 miles northeast of Canberra, Australia's Federal capital city, is a small village called *WEE JASPER!*
Me too. I have never seen them this thick. We traditionally had them as part of afternoon tea rather than breakfast, with butter. Delicious fresh from the griddle or cold later. But thick or thin, they will taste similar, and are delicious.
My dough always comes out SO sticky and I can hardly work with it, no matter how much flour I add! Last time I got so frustrated and just threw it away 😢 do you have any tips?
Hi from Miami. I just made your recipe. It was delicious but very soft and not bread like more like mashed potato that held its shape. Is that the way it’s supposed to be?
Oh my gosh, my daddy used to make those and he’s long since died, so I never knew how he did that nor what they were called. I’m so tickled to see your recipe, you made my heart sing this morning.
❤

This scone reminds me of Norwegian Lefse..potato, flour & butter flat bread...
what a sweet video.
Recipe is fine, but I have always had them thinner. Of course we usually used them as afternoon tea accompaniments rather than as part of a fry-up.
Love tattie scones.Thanks

I literally just came here to the comments to mention Wee Jasper, glad someone else already did :D (i'm from the aforementioned Canberra)
My granny Jean aye called them tottie scones.
Do you have a good recipe for crumpets or soda scones.
Magic cheers
Great vid always crystal clear on how to make recipes but I would make them slightly thinner… not a criticism just a personal preference
Me too. I have never seen them this thick. We traditionally had them as part of afternoon tea rather than breakfast, with butter. Delicious fresh from the griddle or cold later. But thick or thin, they will taste similar, and are delicious.
Ahaha i love tattie scones! 😋

What kind of oil do you use?
Hi from Miami. I just made your recipe. It was delicious but very soft and not bread like more like mashed potato that held its shape. Is that the way it’s supposed to be?
Hi hun can you use any flour x
Looks yum. I will give it a go. Kisses for Jasper.
Can I use last nights potato’s which already has butter and milk added
Yes, just adjust the flour to suit the weight of the leftover potatoes. I've done it often, as did my Mum.
Hi,is the 225g of potatoes the weight of them before or after peeled.Thanking you
Hi Patricia :) It's the weight after peeling x
Thanking you so very much for answering and explaining. I made them and they have turned out so very lovely.Love your recipes.
